Kovac was hosting a giant dinner on behalf of the restaurant. Abby didn’t recognize the location of the dinner, but everything came together when she walked into the warehouse that was turned into a restaurant. This was going to be the setting for her wedding. Abby was mad at Kovac for blindsiding her.

As Morris and Hope were trying to steer guests in the direction of the bar and tables, Kovac was trying to convince Abby to marry him. Kovac took care of the cake, the rings, and the dress, now he just needed Abby to say, “yes”.

Ray was disappointed to see Neela arrive at the event with Gates. The two got some alone time and she explained that she wasn’t planning on taking Gates. He surprised her and showed up at her doorstep. She explained that being with Gates made things easier when it came to moving on from Michael.

Hope interrupted a touching moment between Neela and Ray to tell Neela that Abby needed her. Abby took the opportunity to ask Neela to be her maid of honor. Tears filled Neela’s eyes and she told Abby that she would be honored. Meanwhile, Abby had Neela help her with her hair jewelry, something that had been handed down by Kovac’s mother.

Kovac took Pratt aside to ask him to be his best man. Pratt and Kovac were joking about their friendship when Morris barged in trying to get Kovac ready for his wedding. Abby walked down the aisle, but not before getting a little push from Hope.

Abby and Kovac were unprepared for readings at the wedding, so Neela stepped in and gave a traditional reading. Afterwards, Abby wanted to rush the ceremony and get straight to the “I Do’s”. Meanwhile, Kovac slowed her down and recited his own vows and Abby followed suit.

The reception was about to begin. Morris introduced the happy couple and called them up for their first dance. Meanwhile, Neela couldn’t take her eyes off of Ray, who was at the bar. She later joined Gates who was outside trying to calm Sarah down on the phone. Afterwards, Gates asked for another chance with Neela. She wanted to talk about it later.

Abby got a moment alone with Hope to thank her for her hard work in the wedding planning. Hope surprised Abby with a giant hug in return. Meanwhile, a very intoxicated Dubenko planted a kiss on Neela. She left him and headed towards the bathroom, where she passed Sam making out with her wedding date, and then Hope and Morris making out against a wall.

Neela entered the bathroom to find her young surgical intern, Mai Ling crying. She told Neela she always cried at weddings. She also said she really admired everything about Neela then surprised her with a huge kiss!

Ray sat stewing at the bar. Gates walked up and ordered a couple of drinks and Ray mumbled a few names about Gates. Gates called Ray out and wanted to know his deal. The two began to fight about Neela and Gates defended his relationship. Things turned violent when Ray told Gates he would take care of Neela like he took care of Meg.

Pratt escorted Ray out of the party and told him to take a cab home. Meanwhile, Gates checked on a pretty upset Neela. She accused Gates of wasting her time and they had no future. He turned it around and blamed Ray for Neela’s behavior.

Morris had bought Kovac and Abby a few nights in the honeymoon suite, but they couldn’t leave Joe. So, Morris and Hope played with the idea of taking in the room for themselves to have a little fun.

Abby and Kovac were basking in the glow of their wedding. Abby admitted to Kovac that she couldn’t have planned a better wedding. Morris later videotaped all the guests giving their toasts to the happy newlyweds.

Neela called and left a message with Ray inviting him for breakfast the next morning. A heavily intoxicated Ray was just leaving a bar when he noticed Neela had called. That brought a smile to his face. He dropped his phone in the middle of the road, just as he picked it up; he was face to face with a speeding truck!

Summary from http://www.nbc.com/ER/

Here is the poem that Abby told to Luka as they were getting married:

I Carry Your Heart With Me" by E. E. Cummings

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
                                    i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

NBC Review

LOVE IS IN THE AIR-- The entire ER is surprised when they arrive for the department dinner and find out that surprise nuptials are about to happen. Ray (Shane West) can't seem to handle seeing Neela (Parminder Nagra) and Gates (John Stamos) together. The romantic atmosphere seems to bring everyone together. Goran Visjnic, Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, Linda Cardellini and Scott Grimes also star.

TV Guide Review

May 03, 2007: I Don't:

The staff think they are attending a departmental dinner, but soon learn the event is a surprise wedding---planned by an eager groom for a tentative and unsuspecting bride.
