They talk about what they think really happened and Kerry tells them to just drop it. Victor is in a meeting for a fifth time, they tell him that he should get a lawyer soon.

The Janjawe had shot holes in the water tank so Debbie gets into a truck and drives over to one of the bigger tents. She gets mad at Dr. Dakarai because he is so calm about the situation. She tells him that the conditions were better in the Congo. Dr. Dakarai asks Carter if she was this bad in the Congo and Carter tells him that she was worse. Carter treats a boy, the boys brother has a picture he drew of him and his father fighting the Janjawe. When Carter finishes the boy comes up to him and gives the picture to him.

Victor comes back to the ER and talks to Abby. She asks if he’s ok and he asks her if anyone talks about him but she denies it and tells him he didn’t have to come back so soon. He tells her that he didn’t shoot Jodie and she tells him that she believes him. He catches up with Luka and Luka tells Victor to go home even though Kerry told him he could come back. Jose Rodriguez comes into the ER, he was hit by a car.

The brother who was treated earlier runs over carrying his brother who has a stomach ache and diarrhea, his mother went out to get fire wood and he doesn't know where his father is. Carter tells him that he will help his brother before his parents come back. A group of women are bring some wood back to the camp when some men on horses ride up and chase them. The mother gets brought back to the camp, she has severe bleeding and she was raped.

Malik gets Pratt because K.J.’s dad is in the hospital, he says he got beaten up and he is a little drunk. Victor visits Jodie and apologizes to her for not being around. Pratt is suturing his cuts and he asks if the kid in the other room, Jose, is going to be ok.

Carter tells the husband that she was badly beaten when he asked if she was shamed. When he goes to see her he sees the cut on her thigh and runs out. Dr. Dakarai tells Carter that the cut was a mark of shame. Carter asks how he was supposed to know that and runs after the husband.

Neela comes down to the ER and Pratt argues with Abby about why she should have been down faster. Neela wants to take Jose for a CT but Pratt does not. As they are about to enter the elevator Jose’s father comes with an officer and ask Jose to describe what hit him. "He was a black dude, blue pickup, all I remember was the side door was smashed and the grill was crushed, and there were bumper stickers, lots of bears bumper stickers." Pratt leaves to go find K.J.’s dad. He tells Malik to go on a break, he shoves him around asking if he was the one who hit the kid.

Carter looks in the husbands tent to see if he is there and then asks a neighbor where he went. The husband went off to find the men who raped his wife. Carter gets ready to go find the man but Dr. Dakarai goes with him because he knows the area better.

Pratt brings Dr. Albright up to see Jose he was talking to Neela but his heart rate started to rise and he fell asleep. Victor asks what they’re planning to do about Jodie and they say just wait and see, Victors cell phone rings its Bobby
. Pratt tells his friend that he went out on a limb for him and he thinks that he should turn himself in but he doesn’t want to go to jail.

John insists on going further to find the husband but Dakarai doesn't think so because its too dangerous. Another truck with three officers pulls up and they have to get out. Back in the camp the mother wakes up and the kids go over to see her. John tries to explain that he is a doctor and what he is doing and the one officer holds a gun to his face to get him shut up. When the officers leave they begin to go back but John still insists on going further. Carter sees smoke rising and they go over to see if it’s the husband.

K.J.’s father turns himself in and gets into a police car while Pratt and K.J. are watching.

They hear people laughing and climb to the top of a dune to see what’s going on, the men on horses were beating the husband up. Dr. Dakarai tells Carter that they should leave because there’s nothing they can do when a flock of birds in a tree flew up into the air. One of the men shoots at the top of the dune just nearly missing John and Dr. Dakarai. As they ride away they shoot the husband to make sure that he dies. Carter rushes down to help him but he is pulse less

Victor is sleeping in a chair in Jodie’s room and she wakes up. She wants to know if Bobby
is in jail and how long she has to stay in the hospital. She remembers what happened and Victor tells her that he will go get the doctor. Pratt tries to apologize to K.J. about his father but he thanks Pratt for making him step up and take responsibility. Neela comes down from surgery and tells Pratt that it went well. She says she is sorry about not listening to him and asks him what’s going on. He says its nothing but she knows Pratt is lying and he tells her about what happened with K.J.’s dad. Abby and Luka are outside trying to pick a name and Luka suggests that they name him after the first person who walks through the doors but its Victor so they decide against it. Luka catches up with Victor and tells him he needs to take some tests before he can come back so he agrees. His phone rings again and its Bobby, Bobby honks a horn and Victor looks across the street to see Bobby pretend to shoot him while he was driving away.  Carter comes back with the dead husband; they wrap him in a white sheet and bury him.
