Carter
is sleeping and he starts coughing Steven brings him tea and he drinks it.
He says that Carters help is appreciated. There is shooting outside and he
tells Carter that he will learn to sleep through it.
Morris gets bitten by a little kid and walks into the
desk area. There are flowers on the desk for Abby since Morris told the rest
of the staff that she was pregnant. Luka asks why Kerry is still there and
she tells him that she’s not working she is just staying until Victor comes
in. They talk about what they think really happened and Kerry tells them to
just drop it. Victor is in a meeting for a fifth time, they tell him that he
should get a lawyer soon.
The Janjawe had shot holes in the water tank so Debbie
gets into a truck and drives over to one of the bigger tents. She gets mad
at Dr. Dakarai because he is so calm about the situation. She tells him that
the conditions were better in the Congo. Dr. Dakarai asks Carter if she was
this bad in the Congo and Carter tells him that she was worse. Carter treats
a boy, the boys brother has a picture he drew of him and his father fighting
the Janjawe. When Carter finishes the boy comes up to him and gives the
picture to him.
Victor comes back to the ER and talks to Abby. She asks
if he’s ok and he asks her if anyone talks about him but she denies it and
tells him he didn’t have to come back so soon. He tells her that he didn’t
shoot Jodie and she tells him that she believes him. He catches up with Luka
and Luka tells Victor to go home even though Kerry told him he could come
back. Jose Rodriguez comes into the ER, he was hit by a car.
Carter
and Dr. Dakarai are talking about the war and they bump into Debbie who is
doing yoga with some other people. The brother who was treated earlier runs
over carrying his brother who has a stomach ache and diarrhea, his mother
went out to get fire wood and he doesn't know where his father is. Carter
tells him that he will help his brother before his parents come back. A
group of women are bring some wood back to the camp when some men on horses
ride up and chase them. The mother gets brought back to the camp, she has
severe bleeding and she was raped.
Malik gets Pratt because K.J.’s dad is in the hospital,
he says he got beaten up and he is a little drunk. Victor visits Jodie and
apologizes to her for not being around. Pratt is suturing his cuts and he
asks if the kid in the other room, Jose, is going to be ok.
Carter tells the husband that she was badly beaten when
he asked if she was shamed. When he goes to see her he sees the cut on her
thigh and runs out. Dr. Dakarai tells Carter that the cut was a mark of
shame. Carter asks how he was supposed to know that and runs after the
husband.
Neela comes down to the ER and Pratt argues with Abby
about why she should have been down faster. Neela wants to take Jose for a
CT but Pratt does not. As they are about to enter the elevator Jose’s father
comes with an officer and ask Jose to describe what hit him. "He was a black
dude, blue pickup, all I remember was the side door was smashed and the
grill was crushed, and there were bumper stickers, lots of bears bumper
stickers." Pratt leaves to go find K.J.’s dad. He tells Malik to go on a
break, he shoves him around asking if he was the one who hit the kid.
Carter
looks in the husbands tent to see if he is there and then asks a neighbor
where he went. The husband went off to find the men who raped his wife.
Carter gets ready to go find the man but Dr. Dakarai goes with him because
he knows the area better.
Pratt brings Dr. Albright up to see Jose he was talking
to Neela but his heart rate started to rise and he fell asleep. Victor asks
what they’re planning to do about Jodie and they say just wait and see,
Victors cell phone rings its Bobby
. Pratt tells his friend that he went out
on a limb for him and he thinks that he should turn himself in but he
doesn’t want to go to jail.
John insists on going further to find the husband but
Dakarai doesn't think so because its too dangerous. Another truck with three
officers pulls up and they have to get out. Back in the camp the mother
wakes up and the kids go over to see her. John tries to explain that he is a
doctor and what he is doing and the one officer holds a gun to his face to
get him shut up. When the officers leave they begin to go back but John
still insists on going further. Carter sees smoke rising and they go over to
see if it’s the husband.
K.J.’s father turns himself in and gets into a police car
while Pratt and K.J. are watching.
They hear people laughing and climb to the top of a dune
to see what’s going on, the men on horses were beating the husband up. Dr.
Dakarai tells Carter that they should leave because there’s nothing they can
do when a flock of birds in a tree flew up into the air. One of the men
shoots at the top of the dune just nearly missing John and Dr. Dakarai. As
they ride away they shoot the husband to make sure that he dies. Carter
rushes down to help him but he is pulse less
Victor is sleeping in a chair in Jodie’s room and she
wakes up. She wants to know if Bobby
is in jail and how long she has to
stay in the hospital. She remembers what happened and Victor tells her that
he will go get the doctor. Pratt tries to apologize to K.J. about his father
but he thanks Pratt for making him step up and take responsibility. Neela
comes down from surgery and tells Pratt that it went well. She says she is
sorry about not listening to him and asks him what’s going on. He says its
nothing but she knows Pratt is lying and he tells her about what happened
with K.J.’s dad. Abby and Luka are outside trying to pick a name and Luka
suggests that they name him after the first person who walks through the
doors but its Victor so they decide against it. Luka catches up with Victor
and tells him he needs to take some tests before he can come back so he
agrees. His phone rings again and its Bobby, Bobby honks a horn and Victor
looks across the street to see Bobby pretend to shoot him while he was
driving away. Carter comes back with the dead husband; they wrap him in
a white sheet and bury him.

DARFUR--NOAH WYLE RETURNS, EAMONN WALKER ("OZ") AND MARY
MCCORMACK ("The West Wing") GUEST STAR-- Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) is joined by Dr.
Dakarai (Eamonn Walker) in the Sudanese desert as they work to treat hundreds of
disease infested, and famine stricken people. Carter and Dr. Dakarai must spring
into action to save a woman who was raped by a militant group. Meanwhile, back
at County General, Dr. Clemente (John Leguizamo) returns from New Jersey
wounded. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) and Neela (Parminder Nagra) quickly work to save a
14 year-old involved in a hit and run accident, but Pratt is infuriated when he
discovers who hit the young teen. Laura Innes, Goran Visnjic, Maura Tierney and
Scott Grimes also star.
