 The
episode starts out with Luka with a Santa hat, on his way to work. He walks by
Louis, who is cleaning the sidewalks, he tells Luka he has 2 more sidewalks to
clean, and a furby to find. Luka hands him a furby from his gift bag. And
then walks on to an EMT, asks he how her mom is doing and after she told him
that her mother needs 1 more treatment, he also gives her a gift, for her
mother. He walks into the hospital, handing kids candy. He bumps into Frank,
and gives him a scarf. Frank states that the last time he got a present, was
when that helicopter fell on Romano. Luka goes on and gives Neela a neon
stethoscope. Luka gives Morris a CD and Ray and Pratt get 2 baseball tickets.
And now for the bonus, he allows 4 members of the staff to go home, they have
to play rock, paper scissors for it, and Neela wins. Clemente walks up and
asks Morris is he is gay, since he is holding an ‘N Sync CD, Frank asks if
Clemente can finally call Jody back, to get her off his back.
Luka walks up to Abby,
who is holding a cake and a piece of paper. Luka gives Abby her present and
tells her to open it, but she can’t, so Luka tells her she can do it tomorrow
morning, they talk about spending Christmas together and decide they will do
that.
Sam is seeing Steve in
prison, they talk about he being transferred back to Illinois, Steve asks if
Sam still has the Guitar, DVD player and Cam recorder he gave Alex. Sam says
she still has them and Steve says people might come looking for those things
with warrants. Sam gets angry and walks out.
EMT’s bring Tamara in,
Ray and Luka guide them to a room and she starts seizing. Luka tells Ray that
as soon as Tamara stops seizing, she needs to be brought up for a CT. At the
desk, Haleh talks about needing background singers, Eve says she can do it,
but Haleh tells her she wants someone to have her back, not stab her in it.
Morris says he has got her back, and Haleh tells him she needs people that can
really sing. Kerry comes in telling Morris, Haleh takes her Christmas gig very
seriously. Haleh tells Morris he is welcome to sign up for the auditions in
the lounge, and Kerry is welcome too, but she passes.
Abby is discussing a
patient with Dr. Clemente as they walk down the hall, they arrive at the
patient, and Clemente asks Abby to check on something else.
Cut to Ray and Luka
with Tamara, she has woken up and tells Luka the date, but she also adds it’s
the year 1986. Then she falls asleep again. Luka asks Haleh to get something
for him, but she tells him she can’t, since she is the only nurse in the room.
Eve comes in telling Luka they are a little short handed since “Santa” sent
half of the nurses home.
Abby and Neels walk
down the hall, while Neela is telling Abby about being nervous to spend
Christmas dinner at Michael’s parents. Luka then walks up to them, telling
Abby she needs to confer, she tells him she can’t because she has to check
something for Clemente, Luka says Clemente can wait. Neela and Abby walk on
down the hall and a boy tells them they have to kiss, because they were under
a mistletoe, Neela says perverts start young these days and they walk away.
Ray explains Tamara’s
condition to her and her husband and also tells them that Tamara needs to be
admitted, but she doesn’t want to because she can’t do that to them on
Christmas. Abby and Luka are talking about Abby’s gift and she has to guess
what her present is, Ray informs Luka that Tamara is signing out AMA and Luka
tells Ray he will be right there, and he tells Abby to page him when she has a
clue of what he bought her.
Eve is outside,
talking to her boyfriend but when she sees Sam walking by she hangs up and
tells Sam she is late for work. Sam answers by saying she had stuff to take
care of. An Ambulance arrives and Kerry and Pratt take care of it, in the
trauma room the girl lost her pulse and they are trying to save her. Abby has
joined the team now, the mother of the girl is standing outside talking with
the police. The OR for the girl is ready and Abby picks up the girl’s stuff
and also picks up her Christmas list.
Ray and Luka walk down
the hall to Tamara, she is getting ready to go home, and tells her husband to
wait outside. Luka tells Tamara that she will be leaving against medical
advice. Haleh comes in telling an MVA is coming in. Luka tells Ray that he
will meet him outside. Luka still tries to convince Tamara to stay, but she
tells him she can’t be saved anyways, she has ovarian cancer and it had
already spread to her liver. Luka tells her she could fight this, but she
explains to him that she wants her kids to remember her like she is now, not
as some bald, skinny, dying woman. And she goes home.
Abby walks out of the
trauma room, with some of the girl’s stuff, she tells the police to give the
mother a break and they walk away. Abby gives the mother the girl’s stuff and
asks her if there is any family they can call. But they don’t have to do that,
as the mother tries to call the father again, Abby walks away. The trauma team
are still trying to save the girl, as the mother watches.
Luka is asking for
some medical records on Tamara as Haleh asks everyone if they want to audition
for her Christmas gig. Clemente goes on to a patient, tells him he can go home
because his blood results came back and they were good, but the man complains
of chest pain now so Clemente asks him why he didn’t tell the other doctor
that, it was because it just started. Eve and Sam are treating the three Santa
Clauses, one of them is rude and Eve tells him to shut up and that she needs a
urine sample of him.
Weaver and Pratt are
still working on the girl, she has a pulse now and they are ready to move her
up to surgery. A surgeon named Allbright comes in complaining about having
staff waiting in an OR for an hour, because they called about this patient.
Weaver tells her they haven’t met before and that she is the Chief of Staff.
Pratt explains to Albright the girl had no pulse so they were busy getting her
pulse back. Then the girl loses her pulse again and they have to resume
compressions, Albright tells them to call up to surgery when they know what is
going on. They don’t want to keep an OR empty for a dead kid.
Tamara goes home with
her husband and Ray doesn’t think it’s a good idea, but Luka tells him she
will be back as soon as her kids opened their presents the next morning. Eve
tells Sam, Joe wants to spend Christmas at his mother’s alone. They turn to
the three different Santa Clauses and a blind Christmas choir start to sing,
the Santa Clause that was rude before starts to make jokes about the choir
being blind. Eve hits him and drops his own urine on him.
Pratt and Weaver have
given up on the girl, she died. Pratt goes and get the mother in. The mother
starts talking to her daughter and the heart rate is coming up, Pratt rushes
to the phone to call surgery. The Santa Clause that has been hit by Eve is
complaining about what happened to Sam and Sam asks Clemente for some help.
Clemente listens to the story but when he sees Jodie, he walks away, Frank
comes after him. Clemente tells Frank to tell her he’s with a patient. Sam
asks for help again but Clemente tells her she needs to be with Kovac if she
needs help.
Pratt is still on the
phone with surgery but all the OR’s are full.
Haleh is holding her
auditions, but she can’t seem to find the right person. Luka and eve are
arguing about what Eve did. Eve doesn’t want to apologize, and Luka threatens
to fire her. Clemente is back with his patient, and he tells him he needs to
go home because he isn’t really sick. But when Jodie comes to talk to Clemente
her pretends the man is really sick and needs to be admitted. Sam is talking
to the nursing supervisor and as they are done the nursing supervisor tells
Luka, Eve is going to be fired. Clemente and Jodie walk down the hall,
Clemente explains that it is over between them and that she needs to go home
to her husband, but then they start kissing.
 Albright
takes the girl upstairs, and Pratt walks to Olivia, she asks how the girl,
named Danielle, is doing. Then Olivia takes Pratt outside where people are
standing with candles for Danielle. Chuny calls Pratt back to trauma 1 because
Danielle lost her pulse again.
Sam walks through the
locker room, and hears Eve crying, she accidentally tells Eve about her
getting fired, while Eve was crying about her boyfriend. Eve storms out of the
locker room.
Jodie and Clemente
come down the stairs. Jodie tells Clemente she left Bobby (her husband)
because he hit her. She tells him that if he wants to call her, he can do that
if he doesn’t, he can have a nice holiday.
Abby asks if that was
Jodie, Clemente asks how she knows. And Abby explains that Jodie calls Frank
about 8 times a day and Abby talks to her about 3 times a day.. Clemente says
that’s great, and Abby answers that it must’ve been great since his fly’s
down.
Luka takes Abby to the
Ambulance bay to wait for a patient, while they are walking out Luka tells
Abby he is making Croatian bread and turkey for dinner, he asks her what she
is making and she answers him by telling he must have amnesia from the last
time they were dating.
A police car enters
the ambulance bay with the two guys who shot Danielle, Abby and Luka walk on
to the Ambulance that just arrived.
Weaver rushes back
into the trauma room and asks what happened to Danielle. The guys that shot
Danielle are brought into the room and Pratt makes them see what they did to
her.
Eve yells at Luka for
getting her fired, and tells Sam she was trying to get Eve’s job.
Danielle is in
surgery, and Pratt and the mother talk about her.
Weaver compliments
Luka he did good on his first shift as Chief of the ER. The mother of Alex’s
friend Willy tells Sam that Alex has been telling bad things about Willy’s
father, until Alex gets help, the mother thinks it’s best that Willy and Alex
shouldn’t see each other anymore. Luka asks if he can do anything, but Sam
says she can handle it.
Sam goes and talk to
Alex, telling him his father loves him, but Alex doesn’t believe her, she’s
just lying for him, he tells her.
Haleh and Morris are
singing in the bar, as everyone is listening. Abby buys a snowball for Luka.
Clemente is playing a game with his patient, who pretended to be sick because
he was lonely. Sam has taken Alex to see his father in jail. And Pratt is
still in surgery with Danielle, as the father of Danielle comes in. Abby walks
through the wake the people are holding for Danielle. Then Morris starts
singing along with Haleh. Abby finds Luka in the bar and gives her present.
Abby opens her present, and sees it’s a compass, Luka explains it symbolizes
that they always find each other. Abby asks if they can talk outside for a
minute, and they leave the bar. Abby tells Luka that she’s pregnant, and Luka
looks at her, they just stand there in the snow, and Haleh and Morris’ song
ends.

HARK THE HAROLD ANGELS SING--After a little girl is
mistakenly shot, Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) and Weaver (Laura Innes) desperately try
to bring her back to life. Meanwhile, nurse Haleh (Yvette Freeman)) holds her
annual choir tryouts and everyone is surprised at who is chosen to sing the
solo. Eve (Kristen Johnston) crosses the line with a patient and causes
management to get involved. Abby (Maura Tierney) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic)
exchange Christmas gifts but, Abby's (Maura Tierney) gift to him is bigger
than expected. Also starring Shane West, Parminder Nagra, John Leguizamo and
Linda Cardellini.

It's Christmas Eve in the ER, but all is not
calm as Pratt and Weaver try desperately to save
a little girl who's been shot by a stray bullet.
