Kerry
calls Victor Clemente, the new attending to tell him to come to work as soon
as he gets the message. She tells Luka to cover until he arrives and Pratt
is also late. Luka has to leave so Kerry tells Morris to call in a
moonlighter. Pratt shows up, Kerry tells him he’s late, but according to him
he isn’t late. Sam brings in a man with chest pain. Morris asks if Susan is
coming in, Kerry tells him that Dr. Lewis is never coming in again. She took
up a tenure tract in Iowa City but Dr. Clemente is supposed to be good.
Kerry has a presentation to work on she doesn’t want to be bothered with
anything short of a meteor crash so she puts Pratt temporarily in charge.
Pratt works on the man with chest pain, he wants to spray something in his
mouth but the man wont let him, he claims to have taken 2 lines of coke a
bottle of tequila and 3 of Viagra last night, the spray would kill him. He
asks why Pratt didn’t take a history and then tells him that he is the new
attending. "Congrats doc, you just killed me." Kerry gets pulled downstairs,
she tells Victor that Pratt is usually very thorough, she has a Q and A
upstairs but is starting to think she should stay downstairs. Victor tells
her to go upstairs so as she leaves tells them that Jerry knows where to
find her. Victor explains to Pratt that he was just trying to get the lay of
the place, it took 24 minutes to get his vitals. As he walks down the hall
he sees the x-ray board he thought all the hospitals were using electric
ones. He thinks everything can be improved, Abby says they should get a
psych consult for him Neela thinks differently. Victor wants to do rounds so
Morris pulls the board down, Victor tells them he hasn’t seen a board like
that since the 80's and he prefers a walking round so they go through the
patients.
Luka
goes upstairs to check on Blaire, she is doing better so Luka helps her to
call her ex. She is curious about what really happened, Luka asks another
doctor, it turns out it wasn’t just a car accident, it was an attack, the
other doctor thinks its best not to tell her yet.
Victor teaches them how to diagnose a patient without
a spinal tap using recent discoveries made. One of Abby’s patients,
Stephanie, in Oncology starts freaking out because they couldn’t do her
reconstruction, Stephanie has some cuts but she doesn’t want Abby’s help.
She finally lets Abby suture her cuts Abby tells her that her mothers
Grandmother and Sister died of breast cancer and she never even had a
mamogram.
A trauma comes in, man stabbed in the neck, its not
major but Victor wants to send him up to surgery to see if they can learn
anything from it. Sam is on the phone with Eve, she has to hand out pins and
put posters on the wall, Scrub or Rub, she explains that she is using tape
that wont ruin the wall, duct tape and gum. She cant believe that its Eve’s
day off and she has to call in to make sure everything is ok.
Luka wheels Blaire around in the hallway, she wants
to see Lake Michigan, Luka tells her that she isn’t even supposed to be out
of her room.
Neela doesn’t like Victor anymore and begins to hope
he doesn’t become Chief. Ray is downstairs looking for something to do
because it is boring upstairs. After an incident with a patient Victor tells
Neela she should consider taking a surgical elective because she’s quick to
cut and she uses a scalpel more than her brain.
Abby
brings Lou in to see Stephanie, he gives her a box of chocolate. Upstairs
Abby schedules a mamogram for herself. Ray is in the ER he is explaining to
his boss that he got called down for a possible intoxication from a plant,
he cant figure out what it is. Victor is on the other side of the curtain
area and writes on his board that it’s a tobacco plant. Ray sees this and
concludes that he finds that it is a tobacco plant. After Ray’s boss leaves
he thanks Victor. Kerry comes down to the ER to find out why her research
assistants are in the waiting area. Victor explains that they were getting
in the way and Kerry’s upset that he just went ahead and pulled the plug on
her study. Abby watches Kerry explain that if Victor wants to do anything
differently he has to run it through her first.
Luka and Blaire are on the roof looking out. She
wants to know if its god or fate that she is awake, Luka isn’t sure. She
explains that she keeps remembering things that don’t add up with a car
crash, that something else happened and not knowing is killing her. She
stops speaking and begins to fall back into her coma so Luka brings her down
to the ER. He sends Abby for medications they don’t have in the ER, Kerry
asks Luka if he thinks the drugs will work because if they don’t the state
is going to start asking questions. Victor signs himself off the chart,
while she gets a C.T. she seizes. Kerry tells Luka that the state will admit
her for two days before she goes back to the nursing home.
Pratt is with Olivia he tells her he doesn’t want
anything to do with his dad, that his dad was just a guy who got his mother
pregnant.
