Sam and Luka are walking out as Sam is
getting off work. They are talking about Alex and what to do because he wants
to go see his dad. Luka thinks that Alex should know about his father in
prison in Colorado, but Sam says because his dad wants to be the one to tell
him. Carter, who is on his last shift, walks up to them and is carrying
pizzas and sodas. Luka grabs some to help Carter. Sam tells Carter that she
will miss his farewell party and to take care of himself. Carter gets excited
and wants to know more about the party. Luka tells him to shut up about it
because it’s a surprise. They put the pizza on the admit desk and everyone
complains that it’s cold. Then he takes a girl, Janell Parkerson, who fell
and broke her hand playing volleyball. Ray walks up to Carter and tries to
sign off his cases to Carter, but he tells him to give them to Abby or Neela.
Ray, Neela, and Abby talk about their cases as Pratt shows the new interns
around. Ray tries to give Neela a parnoychia that is in Exam 2. Then Morris
tells them they need to have each others back and gives Neela the parnoychia.
Morris then tells Ray that he is ready to go to the Cubs game, but Ray says
that he is going to a party instead. Morris invites himself to the party
anyway. Pratt introduces the new interns to the gang and tells them that they
will follow the interns around for the rest of the day after he gives them
lockers. Neela can’t believe that they are about to be R2’s and there is no
turning back because they signed a contract. Ray hasn’t signed his contract
and is wondering if he should. Pratt is having a hard time as a patient
knocks him to the ground.

Ray and Morris are walking to the party as
Ray tells him that he probably won’t have any fun because he doesn’t know
anybody. Morris shrugs it off and continues anyway. Ray asks if his friend,
Rick is around and is told to try the penthouse on the third floor. Morris is
glad to be away from the ER and enjoy the time to mingle with others. Ray tells
him to stop talking like that because he doesn’t want to see him thrown down a
flight of stairs. Ray says hi to a couple of friends and then asks where
Jessica is then goes over there. One guy asks Morris if he is a doctor too.
Morris is quick to point out that he is Chief Resident and then is told that is
means nothing to him, then leaves. Back in the ER, Carter is working on a man’s
knee and Janell is asking all kinds of questions that are starting to bug
Carter. Carter gets up as Janell is still asking questions, then is told by the
school nurse, who brought her in, to leave him alone. Jerry then tells him that
building services is on the phone telling them that only one OR is working
because the sewer pipes are broken. Then he tells Jerry to break out the
buckets. Neela comes in with a man in a cow costume, who was hit in the head by
falling scenery and is bleeding from the head. Neela tells Carter he has it and
she goes on her way. Right behind him another man comes in with burns. Abby
tells Carter that is was theater gone badly. Abby takes care of him as Carter
walks away. Chuny gives him a chart of an asthmatic waking up and Pratt asks
where is K.J. and finds out that he is in the nurses’ lounge. Pratt catches up
to Carter and tells him that it won’t be the same without him. Carter laughs
and tells him that he will see him at the party. Pratt walks up to K.J. and
asks what he is still doing here because it’s after 8:00. He tells him that he
is waiting on his dad. Pratt asks if he needs a ride home. K.J. refuses, but
Pratt insists anyway. At the party, a guy, Benny, shows Ray his tattoo, and
then Ray is laughed at by telling him to watch for infection. A girl, Molly,
asks if he is a doctor because she thinks that is cool. He says yes and they go
to get something to drink. People down on the ground start to ask for beer, and
Ray goes over to the cooler and throws down two beers. Morris then comes over
to them drunk and introduces himself. Ray tells him that he just did that ten
minutes ago and Morris walks off. Abby and Neela are tending to the two actors
as they are arguing with each other. Luka tells Abby that he is walking Carter
over to Ike’s for his farewell party and that she and Neela are in charge. Abby
asks if they are closed to trauma. Luka tells her that since the pipes won’t be
fixed for 3 or 4 hours there should be no problems. He also tells her that he
will be back in 30 minutes. Sam comes home and asks Alex if he checked his
sugar and is told he did. She checks the mail and tells Alex that he got a
letter from his dad. She won’t let him read it until he finishes his homework.
Alex then asks where Luka is and if they are still fighting. She tells him no,
but Alex believes that they will move soon. Luka walks Carter into Ike’s and
everyone yells surprise. Ray is kissing Molly and is told that Morris is
throwing up. Ray goes over to check him, and Morris tells him that he wanted
Chief because no one cares about him. By getting this job he wants to show them
that he is one a screw up then throws up. All of a sudden, the floor caves in,
and the next and the next as people fall to the ground. Ray shouts out Molly’s
name and sees Jessica on the railing scared. Then the railing gives out and she
falls to the ground

Every one is on the ground crying in pain
and looking for each other. Ray finds Jessica who has a piece of rebar sticking
through her stomach. Ambulances are on their way as Ray tries to help. Morris
is drunk and looks spaced out not knowing what is going on. Ray tells everyone
to remain calm and tries to move all of the debris but not to touch anyone until
he has looked over them. Abby and Neela fix the two fighting actors and the
stage manger wants them to return for the second act. “The show must go on.” He
says. Abby ask why and that sometimes it can’t go on. Ray and now Morris are
diagnosing the people. He finds Molly with a cut ear and in pain and maybe her
baby too. Ray looks around and can’t believe it. Alex finishes his homework
and Sam gives him his letter. He asks her if they will ever live with his dad
again. She says no, he gets upset and goes in his room to read his letter.
Paramedics arrive and start to assist. Ray tells them that six are dead and
there are about fifteen non-critical that he knows. They ask if Morris is with
Ray. Ray tells them to send him to St Rafe for a banana bag. The paramedic
tells him that is where all of the critical are being sent. Ray says it’s a
level one trauma and that county is the closes. Ray is told that county is
close to trauma. The paramedic says that if you can get county to open the more
the merrier and gives Ray a radio. Chuny answers the radio, and tells him that
Luka and Carter are not there, but that Abby is there. Abby gets on the radio
and Ray tells her what happened. He wants them to open to trauma. Abby says no
because they only have one working OR. Ray begs and gets her to take one, but
he wants them to take five. Abby says that there are no attendings present, but
Ray says that she is a doctor and can do it. One critical flat lines and Ray
tells her now four critical. Everyone gathers around and she tells them to send
them. Abby gives out orders and tells Chuny to page Luka. Luka is giving a
toast telling Carter that “we only part to meet again.” As his is happening we
see his beeper go off in his jacket pocket.

Neela, Chuny, and Jane are looking on
Molly, who is going into labor. Abby is tubing a patient with the new interns
watching her every move and asking questions. Ray then works in his friend,
Nick that cut an artery in his foot and may lose it if he doesn’t get to surgery
soon. With OB backed upped, Neela tries to deliver Molly’s baby, but she runs
into trouble with the baby getting stuck on her pelvis. With the contraction
over, Neela goes to get Abby because she has OB experience and she takes over
Abby’s job. Abby goes in and tries to do a wood screw maneuver, but with Molly
trying down she stops. She asks where the hell OB is then tells an intern to go
to Ike’s and get Luka. Then she starts to do a c-section. Luka beats Carter in
a game of pool and then finds out that, according to all of the others, that he
sometimes cheats. Pratt gets up to take K.J. home and hugs Carter telling him
to take care of himself, then leaves. Carter gets up to go to the bathroom and
prepare his speech. When he enters the bathroom, the intern comes in, tells Luka
what happened, and everyone rushes off to the hospital. Luka arrives to see
Neela doing a cut down and he couches her through it. Haleh tells Luka that
Abby is doing a symphysiotomy and Luka helps her as the baby comes out. Pratt
walks K.J. up to his front door and finds Darnell drunk on the porch. Ray goes
to check on Nick who is getting worse. Sam gets a call saying that her credit
card was trying to be used and she goes downstairs to find that Alex took her
money and a credit card and left. Carter is practicing his speech in the
bathroom, comes out and finds that no one is there. A man is going through
picture slides of Carter and the gang over the years. He then comes to a
picture and stops, telling him that he looked good with the beard.

Molly is holding her baby and Abby is
standing out in the hall. Ray is sending Nick up, then goes over to Abby and
congratulates Abby on her procedure. Morris then walks up to them, telling them
that he was sent to Lakeview and asks if he can help. When he finds out that
everything is okay, he goes and lies down. Susan and Carter walk in and Chuny
tells Carter that Janell is still here, now with her parents, and goes o take
care her. Sam walks in wondering if Alex has been there. Carter helps align
the bones in Janell’s hand and finds out that ten years ago he helped deliver
her. Sam tells Luka that he is trying to get to Colorado to see his dad. Most
immortally he didn’t get his insulin. Then they go out to look for him. Pratt
is standing outside a house and he goes up to knock on the door. A kid answers
and then a man comes up beside him, Pratt asks if he is Charlie Pratt and the
man says yes. Then Pratt walks away. Abby and Neela are filling out there
charts and Ray comes in tried telling them that he won’t leave until all his
friends are ok. Carter comes up to them with a letter telling them that Dr.
Greene made every intern write a letter on themselves and they waited to their
last day of their residency to open it. Carter gives Abby the letter and
leaves. As he is leaving we hear Drs. Greene Benton, Ross and also Carol
talking to him as he looks through the hospital. He walks out and sees Morris
throwing up telling him “to set the tone”, just as Greene told him when he
left. Ray comes to Abby and Neela at the admit desk with his signed contract
and they start to right their letters. Sam and Luka are out looking for Alex,
and we see Alex hitch hiking a ride to go see his dad in Colorado.
