We start off seeing a woman waking up, moaning and groaning. She tells her husband it is happening. She is pregnant, and is going to have the baby. She runs around the house trying to wake everyone up, but can’t seem to wake anybody up. One hour later, Samantha Taggart is waking up in her bed. She rolls in bed, looks at the clock, and then realizes the alarm never went off. Luka never heard the TV, and he is rolling in bed with Samantha. Luka smiles at Sam, after she gets up, out of bed. She walks into the living room, and sees Alex come out of his room, plop on the couch, and begin to watch TV. She tells Alex they need to talk, when they both look over and see Luka coming out of the room, buttoning his shirt.

The scene cuts to Susan and Chuck. Chuck calls Susan "mommy". Susan says she’s not making surname decisions yet, but for now she wants her child to be a Lewis. Chuck agrees, and asks if she has told her father yet, at which she grins, and lets Chuck know her father does not know she is pregnant. Next, we see Susan walking over to Carter, in which the ambulances pull up. The family from the beginning is in the ambulances. The mom is screaming because she is in labor. The dad is not awake, and the kids are in pain. The mother’s baby is crowning, and they are hooking up the fetal heart monitor on the mother.  The family got carbon monoxide poisoning. The mother did not get it, because her baby took it all in. Her baby has carbon monoxide poisoning. Malarkey, Abby, and Pratt are taking care of the family. Pratt is taking care of the dad, Malarkey is taking care of the girl, and Abby is taking care of the boy. Sam and Alex are in the car, and Alex is sitting in the back of the SUV. Pratt is still working on the dad, trying to get him to come out of seizures.

Gallant suggests the hyper baric chamber. The mother can’t get her son out, and Carter is telling her to push harder. She does, and out comes her son. They clean him, and put him on the table. Neela is working on the baby. The baby gets into a container, and gets wheeled outside, but before that, the mother gets to touch the baby. The baby is going to get wheeled into a hyper baric chamber. Neela is claustrophobic, but does not tell Susan that. Neela feels it, once inside the chamber. The scene now is the mother, Vicky, getting wheeled into a room with her husband and kids.  Carter bumps into Susan Lewis, who is pregnant. He pats her stomach, and asks her how she is doing. The next scene, Susan knocks on the door of the chamber, and lets Neela and the technician person know that the baby’s name is Samuel. Neela complains of not being able to breathe. Weaver and Elizabeth have a conversation together. Sam is now checking out a girl who is complaining of her throat hurting, and the dad tells the girl he has to go to work, so the girl bravely tells him she will be fine. Luka asks Sam if Alex is ok, and Sam tells him yes. He offers to cook dinner, and let Alex watch something on his big-screen TV. Weaver sees Luka, and scolds him, for making her late to a meeting. She tells him to look for the deduction in his paycheck. Susan and Abby start to have a conversation about Susan’s father. Carter walks outside, to see ambulances arriving. One of them, Deb Chen gets out of with her father. Carter and Deb greet each other, and Deb explains to Carter about what happened to her mother, and her father. Mrs. Lopez brings Weaver’s baby in, and demands to see Dr. Weaver. Sam is the one Mrs. Lopez is talking to, and does not realize it is Dr. Weaver’s baby. The carbon-monoxide poisoning dad, is awake now.

Neela is still in the chamber, complaining to the technician. Finally, she starts ascending, when she can not take it anymore. But, the technician tells her about the baby’s symptoms. The baby needs her help. She goes back down, and into the chamber again. As she is doing that, her eardrum blows and her ear starts bleeding. Chen and Carter are sitting by her father’s bedside, while Chen is telling Carter about her father and mother, and how much she appreciates the American system, because it took a week for her father’s chest film in China. Suddenly, Chen sees Pratt, and starts to fill him in on her father’s condition. Neela goes back into the chamber, and starts helping, when Dr. Olivera comes in. Weaver goes to her baby, and starts comforting him. Her baby only has a cold, from what she is saying. Mrs. Lopez and Weaver say a few words to each other, and then Mrs. Lopez brings the baby back home with her. Susan calls her father to tell her, but has to hang up because of a patient. Two traumas are wheeled in, and its drug related. They are covered in blood. Susan brakes the news to a woman who is pregnant. A old man was wondering around in the ER, asking patients for change, when Samantha Taggart takes him off. Before she takes him off, he pukes onto a girl of eight years of age. Luka and Samantha talk about their night together. The two trauma people are covered in blood, and are still working in the trauma room.

Neela is finally out of the hyper baric chamber, and she is really happy about it. But, the Dr. is worried about Neela’s lungs, so he asks her to stay in there, so he can check her out, and the pressure can come down slowly. Elizabeth is followed by cops when wheeling one of the people who had been covered in blood to surgery. Susan Lewis forgets to update the mother, Vicky, and does not update her on her family. The little girl in the ER gets treated for strep throat. Susan is now wheeling Vicky, the mother up to the chamber, so that she can see her son. Susan goes to the chamber, and sees Neela on the monitor. She asks her about it, and Neela tells her about a possible lung problem. Alex gets dropped off at County, and Sam walks outside to greet them. As they walk away from County, Sam and Alex talk about a few things. Susan Lewis is getting off of the elevator, patting her stomach. She looks over, and sees Carter talking to Kem on a  web cam. Somehow, Jerry hooked it up for him. Kem shows Carter her stomach, and Susan wonders why some people get huge and some people get little stomachs when they are pregnant. Pratt tells Chen good news about her father, and offers Chen support in these hard times. Olivera is telling Neela to be careful, and that she’ll need a chest x-ray once they get out of the chamber. But, as soon as the door opens, Neela bolts outside onto a balcony, and takes fresh deep breaths. Susan and Chuck go into a bar, where they greet her father. Her father is paying attention to the TV, and doesn’t really pay attention when Susan tells her father she is pregnant. Chuck and Susan are both happy together.

NBC Review

NEELA SUFFERS WITH POISONED NEWBORN WHEN BOTH ARE PLACED IN HYPERBARIC CHAMBER -- While Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) pines over his separation from his pregnant girlfriend in Africa, a family of four is rushed to the E.R. after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning from their furnace -- forcing a claustrophobic Neela (Parminder Nagra) to accompany a newborn baby into an extremely uncomfortable hyperbaric chamber to extend its life. Elsewhere, Dr. Lewis (Sherry Stringfield) is upbeat about her future with Chuck (Donal Logue) while Nurse Sam (Linda Cardellini) has reason to ponder her relationship with Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic). In addition, Lewis and Abby (Maura Tierney) treat a maniacal man (as Doe, Jerod Edington) who's rushed in covered in blood, while Dr. Weaver (Laura Innes) counsels a mother whose young son tests positive for leukemia. Amid the chaos, Dr. Chen (Ming-Na) returns from China with her sick father in tow. Alex Kingston, Sharif Atkins and Mekhi Phifer also star.
