Dr.
Lewis receives a call from her accountant about her audit with the IRS. Chuck
suggests that they have children, instant tax write-off. Romano begins a file
of Pratt’s incidents. Romano uses his new prosthetic arm to grab Chen’s ass,
then says it was an electrical malfunction. Alex gets to spend the day in the
ER because Sam can’t find a babysitter. Abby comes down to start her ER
rotation. Pickman brings in a family from a MVA. Romano grabs Sam’s ass. If
response, Sam slams him against the wall and unhooks the hand from it’s socket
and gives it to Lewis. Romano threatens to fire her and Sam threatens a
sexual harassment lawsuit. When Romano asks for his hand back, Lewis refuses
and takes it away for the entire day.
Ben
Hollander (Bob Newhart) thanks Lewis for the seeing-eye dog. Susan tells him
that he doesn’t have to keep coming down to the ER for checkups anymore. Ben
asks her out and she accepts. Pratt confronts Morris. He asks Morris if he
smokes weed when he smells marijuana on his clothes. Morris denies it, saying
his roommate tokes. Abby, Neela, and Lester examine the family from the MVA.
The kids and the boyfriend are fine, but the mother has a head laceration. Abby
wants a Head CT and a babygram on the youngest child but Kovac says for her to
trust her clinical skills and not to order the tests. Instead, he discharges
the family. A prison mate from a fight comes in and is tended to by Neela.
Chen receives a call from the embassy in China. Ben
Hollander is still waiting for a cab. Sam calls another cab for Ben. Romano
has another prosthetic hand and Frank informs Lewis that her audit has been
postponed for an hour. Alex is in the lounge as Susan walks in. He asks her
some medical questions before she notices Chen talking on the phone. Jing-Mei’s
parents were in an accident. Chen has to fly to China. Lewis tells Pratt about
the accident and he races after her as she leaves.
Romano hands off the prison mate to Pratt. Abby presents a
soccer mom with heart palpitations to Lewis. She tries to leave AMA, but they
keep her in the ER. Ben is home painting and is beginning to have trouble doing
it, the thing he loves most. Alex is following Luka around. Elizabeth
questions Kovac about not getting a CBC on a possible appendicitis patient she
was called down to consult on. She orders a CT for her patient. Mrs. Myers,
the soccer mom, almost faints when she tries to leave.
Neela talks with the prison mate as she stitches up a stab
wound. When he stands up, Neela finds he is bleeding from his rectum. When he
refuses to be treated, Pratt talks him into staying in the hospital longer so he
doesn’t have to go back to the prison. Mrs. Myers’ condition is still unknown.
Alex continues to follow Kovac around. When he tells Alex to go to the lounge,
Alex hides behind him and continues to follow him. Luka discharges the possible
appendicitis without having the CT done. Sam and Gallant go to another hospital
to transfer a girl to County. She is septic and Gallant scoops her and runs to
the ambulance to transfer her to County. Mrs. Myers confesses to Abby that she
uses Crystal Menthe. The boyfriend from the MVA comes back with the baby. The
boyfriend says the baby wouldn’t wake up. Ben sets the table for his date with
Susan but with mild success. Susan intibates the baby. Abby is stressed about
not catching the inter-cranial bleed. Gallant’s septic girl has gone into PEA
during the transport to county. While chopping vegetables, Ben slices his hand
and gets frustrated. The appendicitis patient comes back to triage and throws
up on Cooper, perforating his appendix. Corday has to operate but he doesn’t
want aesthesia. Michelle, the septic girl, dies just as the parents arrive.
Gallant informs the parents of her death. Ben sits at home waiting for a call
from Lewis. Neela comes to check on the prison mate. Kovac gives Alex a head
CT. While Alex is getting the CT, Corday comes in and complains to Kovac about
the appendicitis patient. Ben cancels dinner with Susan. Mrs. Myers is
discharged.
The record Ben has been listening to has reached the end and
is still spinning as he tapes a letter to his chest. He takes a pistol to his
head, looks around, than shoots himself. The words “Do Not Resuscitate” are
written on the envelope of the letter.
Romano finishes the rape-exam on the prison mate. Neela
brings the prison mate’s lab results to Romano. Romano re-enters the room to
inform the prison mate that he has AIDS. He thanks Romano, letting him know
that “Now I know its not going be forever”. Susan and Abby look over the CT
scans of the MVA baby from before he left and after he came back. The
inter-cranial hemorrhage only shows up on the latter screening. Abby races to
find the boyfriend. Ben Hollander is brought in by paramedics. Lewis doesn’t
notice that it is him because his face is hidden by Sam, who is bagging him.
When Susan turns to intibate him, she freezes up and tells Pratt to stop
cardioverting him.
Abby, Ken Sung, and Security come to talk to the MVA
boyfriend. She asks what he did to the baby. When he tries to leave, security
arrests him. Alex shows Sam his Head CT.
Mrs. Myers is discharged. Neela asks Abby is she would want
to study together. She wants to help Abby with her academics. Susan is
monotone as she leaves. She tells Romano that his hand is hidden in the tampon
machine in the women’s bathroom and to get it himself before she leaves.
