Peter is playing with Reese as Jackie watches on.  He tells Jackie that she needs to have Reese ready later for Roger to pick him up.  They are going to one of Roger’s family member’s birthday party.  Jackie is not crazy about Roger spending time with Reese.  Peter tells her that he is giving Roger and Reese time together.  Mark and Elizabeth are on their way to take Rachel to school.  Mark is having to take Elizabeth to work first though.  She has been on the phone with the hospital about her patient.  Rachel has gotten a new cell phone (Mark must have given in) and is trying to program it.  Mark instructs Rachel on what she needs to do later as she is taking care of Ella.  They drop Elizabeth off and he then heads to take Rachel to school.  She is embarrassed by the van, so she wants her dad to drop her off a few blocks before they get to her school.  Susan and Carter are at a Yoga class.  Carter is not doing as well as the others in the class.  It seems to be hurting his already ailing back.  She tells him he should take some medicine for it, but he tells her that he does not like taking any kind of pain medication.  They begin to chat while they do their Yoga.  They discuss Abby and Carter explains to Susan about Abby and Luka.  As they are doing various, painful, positions, Carter tumbles and causes everyone around him tumble also.

Abby is at work and sees that Carter and Susan are arriving at the same time, both with wet hair.  Carter explains to her that they have been out being tortured.  Abby is looking for emesis basins and Frank tells her that Central Supply has just hired someone to take care of that.  Abby learns that the person is Luka's friend Nicole.  He had helped her get the job so that she can remain in the country.  Abby tells her that she is looking for some emesis basins, and Nicole has no idea what she is asking about.  Abby tells her that she is hunting for some barf bins.  Elizabeth is with her elderly patient Mrs. Wilson.  She had operated on her a few days earlier and she now has a post-operative infection.  The woman's daughter, April, seems to think that maybe it is time to let her mother die instead of having her go through so much suffering.  It is mentioned that Mrs. Wilson does have a DNR order.  Carmen Torino from Infection Control continues to watch Elizabeth.  There has been a fire and patients are being brought in.  One of them is Mrs. Mintry.  She had jumped from her apartment window with her daughter Eden.  She has a broken leg, but her daughter is okay.  A fireman was there to help her out of the burning apartment, but she had already jumped.  Luka and Abby help the fireman through the ER.  He has a broken foot and it hurts for him to walk.  Abby seems to be making him feel a lot better though.

Luka sees Nicole and asks her how she is doing on her first day.  She seems to like her new job.  He asks her out to lunch.

Mark checks out the little girl, while Elizabeth and Carter take care of the mom with the hurt leg.  Carmen is right behind Elizabeth as she tends to her patient, Mrs. Mintry.  She reminds Elizabeth that she needs to clean her stethoscope.  Mark comes in and tells the mother about how her daughter is doing.  Elizabeth leaves the room with Mark and tells him about how worried she is about her elderly patient's infection.  Carmen noses over to see what she can hear.  Abby takes care of Rick, a guy who tried to circumcise himself.  Susan takes care of Lara Avery.  She is a young lady who seems to have the flu.  She thinks it may be caused form a hangover.  She tells Susan that she had been to a party the night before.  Susan walks out of the room and sees Carter's student Stanley talking to himself.  When she gets closer, she sees that he is really talking to Carter, who is on the floor in pain from his earlier Yoga class with Susan.  He sees that Stanley is talking about Lara with Carter.  They have already been to see her and diagnosed her with the flu, but Susan tells him that he should sign off on his patients so that no other doctors will examine the same ones.  Susan helps Carter get to his feet.  She then massages him as Abby walks by heading to the lounge.  Abby sees Luka in the lounge and they discuss Nicole.  He tells Abby that he just wants to help Nicole out.  She wants to know if they are dating now and he tells her that he just got her the job.  Abby then learns that she has moved in with Luka.  Luka and Abby leave the lounge and they finish their conversation.  Carter is back on the floor and overhears some of it.  Carter wants to know why Abby cares so much, but Abby tells Carter that she doesn't care.  Elizabeth gets paged to the ICU.  Her elderly patient, Mrs. Wilson, has worsened.  Elizabeth wants to help her, but is reminded about the DNR.  Peter has come in to make sure that the woman is not treated.  Mrs. Wilson dies as her daughter looks on.  Abby checks on her paramedic patient.  He seems to show interest in Abby.  Peter comes down to do a consult on Abby's patient Rick.  Peter tells him that he can either have surgery to finish the circumcision, or he can restore it back to the way it was.  He tells them that he only did it to please his girlfriend.  Luka takes care of Wes, a man who passed out after cutting his hand.  He has a clotting factor deficiency and his hand continues to bleed.  Luka wants to know what he has been doing for this problem and Wes tells him that he has missed a couple of treatments.  Wes has a porta-cath that Luka can put his medicine in.  He had this device put in two years ago because he hated needles.  Nicole has come to meet Luka for lunch.  Abby is at a vending machine when Susan walks up.  Susan wants to know if it is hard for Abby to work so closely with Dr. Kovac.  Susan tells Abby that Carter has told her about their situation.  Lily comes to get Susan for help on a patient that has been brought in.  Elizabeth goes to the hospital morgue to see Mrs. Wilson.  Dr. Upton is working on her and Elizabeth questions to find out if any infection was found.  Dr Upton tells her no and begins to tell Elizabeth about all the things that have been told to her about her situation.  Carmen comes to find Elizabeth and fusses at her for not letting her know where she was.  Rick's girlfriend comes in to check on his condition.  She tells Abby that she told him that she wants a boyfriend with a circumcision only because she wanted to break up with him.  She had no idea that he would have done it himself.  A young man named Andy is brought in by the paramedics.  His roommate is with him and explains to the doctors about his condition.  He had been complaining of a stiff neck, so Susan immediately checks for a fever.  The young man also has spots under his hands.  Susan immediately thinks he was exposed to meningitis.  She asks for someone to find Carter and then orders everyone to put on masks.  Abby finds Carter in an exam room with Stanley, who is doing acupuncture on him for his back pain.  Abby tells him what has happened and Carter rushes immediately to help Susan.  Susan learns that Andy is a student at the University of Illinois and that others could have been exposed to him.  She remembers Lara, who had the flu symptoms, and tells Stanley to go and find her.  He tells Susan that she has already been discharged.  Susan rushes to find her and Frank tells her that she has been waiting on a ride.  Carter is working on Andy and  tells Abby to get him a catheter.  Abby has a hard time locating one, so she goes to hunt one down.  Abby sees Luka and Nicole coming back from lunch, so she stops to ask her where she put them, and she tells her that she had put them in the trauma room, so Abby tells her to show her exactly where they are.  Luka follows the two of them to the room where Carter is working on Andy.  Nicole finds what it was that she had and Carter tells her that it is not what he was looking for.  Carter gets upset with Nicole and Luka defends her.  Susan goes to the cafeteria, but she can not be found.  As she is rushing through the hospital, Susan catches a glance of her outside ready to leave.  She opens the window and tells Lara to wait for her to come down.

Peter  and Elizabeth are scrubbing in for separate surgeries when Peter is told that he has a call from Roger.  Reese and Jackie can not be found and he is suppose to be going to the birthday party.  Peter tells him to take it up with Jackie. Elizabeth and Peter discuss the surgeries and she apologizes for the way she had behaved earlier about Mrs. Wilson.  Peter was the one who had to make sure that Elizabeth understood that she was a DNR.  Peter confirms with her that he would trust his and Reese's care with her if they ever needed surgery.  This seems to put her more at ease.  Carter, Susan, Abby and Stanley continue working on their young patient.  Stanley helps Susan do a spinal tap on Lara to make sure she has not contracted the disease.  Susan learns that Lara and Andy had kissed at the party.  Susan notices the spots on Lara's feet.  Lara tells Susan that she would like to call her family in Omaha.  Carter points out that Andy has died.  Luka continues to work on Wes, the man who can't quit bleeding.  He sees that he has been taking Demerol and thinks that he has been doing it through his porta-cath. to shoot more than Demerol.  Luka gets on to him for it and Wes tries to leave.  Nicole brings Wes a sandwich that he had asked for.  She sees that there is a problem and asks Luka about it.  He explains the situation and she seems to take Wes' side of the story.  She does not think that Luka should remove the porta-cath.  Susan tries to contact Lara's mother.  Lara has gotten worse and has to be intubated.  Susan leaves a message for her to call.  Susan and the other doctor's who assisted take some medicine to help prevent them from getting the meningitis.  She can not believe that she missed the original diagnosis.  Carter tries to make her feel better by telling her that they had missed it also.  Abby discharges her firefighter.  He will need crutches.  He asks her out, but she tells him that she is not available.  Elizabeth and Carmen are in surgery.  Carmen seems to be annoying her very much.  Elizabeth tells her to get out of the way so that she can work on her patient.  She tells Carmen to leave the room and asks Shirley to call security.  Another nurse comes in and tells Elizabeth that Romano wants her to scrub out immediately and report to his office.  Frank tells Peter that Roger and Jackie have both been trying to reach him.  Peter decides to not call them back.  Elizabeth goes to Romano's office to find that he also has someone with him.  It is Edwin Bane from the Cook County Health Department.  He is wanting to know about all of the deaths of Elizabeth's patients due to infections.  He thinks that she has been killing her patients on purpose, because they are elderly and want to die.  Romano goes to defend her, but it does not help matters.  He tells Elizabeth that she may want to hire counsel.  Abby sees Nicole with the little girl who had been in the fire.  Abby stops to chat with Nicole.  Nicole tells her that she admires all that she does.  Nicole had wanted to be a nurse, but never did anything about it.  Luka sees the two of them talking and stops by.  He wants to know if Nicole has seen Wes.  She hadn't, but Luka suspects that she is not telling him the truth.  He tells her that Wes left without being treated.  Luka was really trying to get Wes to stay so that the social worker could see him and tell that he had been shooting drugs through his catheter.  Luka sees that Nicole probably told Wes what he was up to.  Elizabeth comes home and sees that Ella is crying.  Music is playing loud and Ella is very upset.  Elizabeth picks Ella up to comfort her and then looks for Rachel.  She finds Rachel in her room and on her new cell phone.  Elizabeth tells her to hang the phone up.  Rachel tells Elizabeth that she didn't know that the baby was crying and this makes Elizabeth angrier.  She tells Rachel that she needs to feed Ella and Rachel goes to get her bottle.  Elizabeth continues to scold her and Rachel shouts back and walks out of the house.  Mark finds Susan sitting with  Lara, who is on the verge of death.  He tries to make Susan feel better, but it does not help.  Conni comes in to tell Susan that Lara's mother is on the phone and Mark leaves her.  Peter is on his way to the parking deck when Roger pulls up.  He wants to know why Peter never returned his calls.  Peter tells him that he does not want him to see Reese anymore.    Roger knows that this whole thing started up because Jackie did not like him.  Peter is not willing to setup any kind of visitation for Roger.  He tells Roger that he is Reese's father and Roger tells him that Carla told him the truth.  He knows that Peter may not even be Reese's real father.  The makes Peter angry and he tells Roger to keep away from Reese.  Carter and Abby are taking a walk.  She tells him about the fireman asking her out, but this does not seem to bother him.  He wants to know if she accepted his invitation and she gets upset with Carter.  Abby tells him that she broke up with Luka because she thought he had wanted her to.  This makes Carter upset with her.  He did not tell her to break up with Luka.  Carter seems to think that Abby is still wanting to be with Luka and shows it by being jealous of Luka and Nicole.  They continue to argue until Abby walks away mad.  Mark is home and he tells Elizabeth that he has found Rachel.  She is at Andrew's house and that she will be home by ten.  She feels bad for haven been so angry at Rachel.  She is really worried about the investigation.  Elizabeth doesn't seem to think she can handle the whole thing, but Mark comforts her and says they can get through it together.  Susan is sitting with her patient Lara.  Lara is improving and wakes up to see Susan there by her side.
