Kerry Weaver is on the phone in the
lounge. She has some personal information to tell
someone, but she is having to leave a message. Susan
Lewis is coming in for her first shift back and she asks
Kerry for a locker. Kerry tells her that she can
have Chen's locker. She is then greeted by Malik,
who heard that she was back, but could not believe it.
She wonders what happened to the board, and they tell her
that Weaver had changed it. Cleo introduces herself
to Dr. Lewis and passes on some patients for her.
Peter sees Dr. Lewis and then asks Cleo out for breakfast.
Cleo has been offered a chance to run a pediatric urgent
care 40 minutes away in Schaumburg. Mark and
Elizabeth are trying to get things together to leave for
work. Rachel asks for permission to go to a party
that night, which is a school night. Mark speaks to
her friend's mother on the phone and agrees that it will
be okay. Then a boy comes knocking at the door to
give Rachel a ride to school. Mark hardly even puts
up a fight an lets her go. Elizabeth says, "Well, I
guess she is making friends".

Susan
takes care of a patient with an upset stomach who does not want to
take his clothes off to be examined. He tells her that she
just wants to see him naked. Mark greets her and makes fun
of her first day. Carter is touring his new students.
There are two of them. It is a part of his Chief Resident
position. Carter then visits with Susan, until she stops to
ask a nurse a question. Carter introduces Susan to the
nurse, Abby Lockhart. She wants her to set her up for
suturing. She tells Susan where she can get the stuff
herself. They then get called away to a trauma. A
man's brother is unresponsive. He wants to make sure he will
not die. Abby and Mooney, the medical student, take care of
another patient. He gives him some medicine under his
tongue. He gave him three sprays and the patient
automatically worsens. He gave the patient too much
medicine. Abby saves the day. She catches Carter in
the hall and tells him of his student's mistake. He was
suppose to give the three sprays every five minutes. Mark
and Chuny run out to assist a man who was struck by a car.
His name is Alan and his daughter tells Mark what had happened.
Susan explains to her patient's brother that he is still in a
coma. She asks if he has ever seen a psychiatrist. She
is hollering over the construction that is going on. She
tells him that her patient is faking it. Susan's other
patient is still dressed and wants to know what is taking her so
long. He tells her that he wants to speak to his surgeon,
the British chick with red hair. Kerry and Peter
assist Mark with his patient, Alan. Alan's daughter
apologizes to her father, as they look on. He tells her that
she didn't see him. They wonder what she is apologizing
about. Elizabeth takes care of an elderly woman. She
will need colon surgery. The daughter wants to wait a few
days, but Corday says it needs to be sooner. Susan comes in
for a consult for Mr. Ashman. Elizabeth learns that Susan
hasn't even examined him yet and wants to know why she is
bothering her with it. Susan then tells Abby to examine the
man. Abby hands Susan a gown. Susan then catches the
patient who was faking a coma, getting beat up by his brother.
He is beating the guy's legs with a metal bar. Susan calls
for a nurse to call security. Kerry speaks to Alan's
daughter. She wants to know if she can call her mom for her.
She tells Kerry that it is just the two of them. He had
taken her out to lunch because she had just gotten in to Law
School. Kerry tells her that he may have a crushed pelvis.
He had been pinned against something. She tells her that it
was a wall. She thought she had the car in reverse, but it
wasn't. Kerry shows concern.

Abby and
Carter discuss Dr. Lewis. She wonders if she has always been
high maintenance. Carter then gives Susan another patient.
A female with abdominal pain. Corday sees Susan and learns
that her hunch was right about her patient. Corday will take
a look at the man, but Frank tells her that one of her patients
has coded in the SICU and she has to make the man wait.
Susan had finally convinced him to let her examine him with his
clothes off. Susan checks on her patient with abdominal
pain, Amal. She has been in pain since yesterday. She
has to be home in 2 hours no matter what. Peter takes Alan
to surgery. The daughter wants to go up with him. The
police want to question her. He suspects a DUI. Kerry
talks him into waiting until after the surgery. Susan's
patient wants to have an abortion. She tells Susan that she
has to be a virgin on her wedding day. Susan does an
ultrasound. She will be sent out of the country if her
parents find out. Susan tells her that she has an ectopic
pregnancy and needs surgery immediately. Yosh comes in and
tells Susan that they need her right away. Susan tells Amal
to stay put and that she will be right back. Susan goes with
Yosh. A paramedic had given a woman some medicine and she
started seizing over 40 minutes ago. Luka is working with
her. She introduces herself to Luka. Elizabeth is
working on her elderly patient. Romano asks if she is trying
to raise the dead. This is her third post op infection for
the week. Susan asks her patient's husband about the
medicine she had been taking. She learns that she has taken
too much of it. The label says to take once a day, which is
once (11) in Spanish. She tells the husband that they will
help her. Carter is taking care of a woman with gall stones,
when his student rushes out after him. His patient is
crashing and needs to be shocked. Stanley will get to shock
him. Carter is standing too close and gets shocked in his
private area. Luka and Susan try to save their patient.
She wants Yosh to find some Paradoxin from wherever he can get it;
nobody in the area has it. Peter and Romano are scrubbing in
for Alan. Peter gets a call from Roger and he tells them to
take a message. Yosh tells the doctors that it will be ten
minutes before the medicine will arrive from Mercy, but Susan and
Luka's patient has died.

Abby checks on Carter. He tells
her that he is better. Stanley apologizes to Dr.
Carter. He offers to help, but Carter tells him that
he has done enough for the day. Roger comes to
Peter's surgery asking about Reese. He is missing
from daycare. Abby releases Susan's patient.
His stomach is feeling better after he drank some of the
Russian water that Carter's gall stone patient had.
Susan then learns that the girl in exam one ran off.
She is the girl with the ectopic pregnancy. Alger
brings Gamma in and asks to see Dr. Carter. Susan
does not know who she is, so she tells her that she will
have to wait. When she learns that she is Carter's
grandmother, she apologizes. Millicent tells her
that she must only be rude to strangers. Carter
learns that she fainted outside of Marshall Field's.
She says that she did not faint. Elizabeth's
patient, Mrs. Wilson, is told by Dr. Corday that her
surgery went very well. She thanks her. Carmen Turino
from Infection Control needs to speak with Corday about a
patient that had died earlier. She tells Elizabeth
that she needs to be cultured. Her surgical
privileges could be suspended if she does not cooperate.
Romano and Anspaugh are supporting Carmen. Susan
informs Mark about her patient who left the ER without
being treated for her ectopic pregnancy. She tells
Mark that she believes the girl will return. Dr.
Corday calls to speak with Mark. Kerry speaks with
Susan about the nursing shortage. They have been
complaining about the way she has been treating them.
Kerry is told that the blood alcohol came back on the girl
who ran over her father. Mark asks Susan to cover
his last hour. He has to go home to tend to Ella,
since she has to stay and be cultured. Roger shows
up at surgery and tells Peter that he still can not find
Reese. Peter has to leave and tells Roger to call
the police. Carter looks at Gamma's EKG and it looks
good. She tells Carter that Alger means well, but
sometimes he is annoyingly condescending. She had
just missed lunch. Carter asks if she has been
depressed. She tells him that she just misses her
husband. She wants to go to her appointments.
He wants her to stay for more tests. Susan calls
Amal's home looking for her. She pretends to be a
friend from Amal's school. She will call back.
Yosh comes to find Dr. Lewis. Mr. Carrasco, her
patient who died from the OD's husband, is still waiting.
She has to go tell him about his wife's death. She
explains everything to him in Spanish. Elizabeth
gets swabbed and tested for infection control. Peter
storms out of surgery and finds Roger on the phone with
the police. Peter picks up the phone and hatefully
tells the person on the other end of the phone to send a
detective right away. Kerry sees a chart laying
around and asks who it belongs to. Susan tells her
that it belongs to her. She sees that the patient
has left the hospital. She tells Kerry that she is
trying to protect the girl. She knows that she will
return.

Roger and Peter are still worried
about Reese, when Jackie comes in with him. She had left a message on
the voice mail for Peter. She is surprised that Roger is still picking
him up. He does every Tuesday and Thursday. Reese had been
fighting during recess. Jackie says he needs more stability. Her
and Roger argue a while. Chuny sees Weaver and tells her that the OR
called and doesn't believe her patient is going to make it. Carter
finds Gamma leaving against medical advice. He asks Alger to check on
her in about an hour. Susan apologizes again to Carter for offending
her. They chat on the bench for a while. Abby comes looking for
Carter and sees the two of them holding hands. Pickman is bringing in
a woman in active labor. Carter, Abby and Susan help her. The
switch is broken and the patient's bed rises to the ceiling. Susan
runs to get a ladder. Abby tells them to call Luka, he is tall.
They deliver the baby boy safely. Kerry has to tell the daughter of
her patient that her father died. The police come in to arrest her.
She wants them to let the daughter see her father. Weaver watches as
the girl sobs and says she is sorry. Mark and Elizabeth are home
worrying about Rachel. She is not home from the party. She
finally walks in, but doesn't seem concerned about being late. She
gives them an excuse and Mark tells her not to ever let it happen again.
She then tells him that if she had a cell phone she could keep in touch.
Susan's patient has finally returned. She apologizes for being late.
Susan can't find Amal's chart and learns that Weaver has it and is on a call
in the lounge. Susan runs to the lounge to find Weaver on the phone.
She tells her that the girl is here and hangs Weaver up. She learns
that Weaver wasn't on the phone with Amal's parents. Susan walks out
and Kerry makes her call again. She tells the woman on the phone that
an investigator gave her the number. She is calling a woman who had
given up her daughter for adoption. The woman does not want to speak
with her and Kerry apologizes and hangs up.
