Elizabeth's mom, Isabelle, has arrived to help Elizabeth on her wedding day.  Elizabeth is nervous and upset that the wedding is going to be ruined.  She just feels as if it is going to be a bad day.  Mark receives a call from his daughter, Rachel, telling him that she has missed her flight.  She will have to catch another plane.  Mark cannot find his wallet, so he will have to go to the ER to get it from his locker.  Peter asks Cleo if she has asked Malucci to cover for her so that she can go to the wedding with him.  She tells him that she has not and she acts as if she is not really interested in going.  Kerry gets bombarded with calls from nurses calling in sick.  They are playing sick, so that they can attend the wedding.  Abby is at work and she really is sick.  She has a cold and is not feeling well, but this is not keeping her out of work.  Kerry speaks with Conni over the phone.  Conni tells her that she has a fever and will not be able to come in.  Kerry tells her that if she does not come in to work, then she had better bring in a doctor's note and she had better not show up in any of the wedding photos, or she will be fired.  Kerry may be so mad, since she was not invited to the wedding herself.  People are surprised to see Mark at the ER, he has only come to pick up his wallet and then he is out of there.  Kerry is on her way out and she is heading to the airport.  She is attending a conference in Las Vegas.  She sees Mark and wishes him and Elizabeth happiness.  Mark sees a tow truck and his van is right behind it.  He was illegally parked and the man will not let him get it back.  Mark grabs his tux out of it as he drives off.  Abby gets a radio call stating that a prison van has been in an accident and they are wondering how many patients that they can take.  Since Luka is in charge, she wants to ask him, but Carter takes the call and tells them that they can handle more than what Abby thinks.  Elizabeth tells her mom that she is upset that her father was unable to make it to the wedding.  Her mother makes a few unnecessary comment about him and this upsets Elizabeth.  Isabelle gives her daughter a gift.  It is Elizabeth's grandmother's ear rings to wear.  This puts a smile on her face.  Rachel has called and she is unable to catch another flight.  She will not be able to attend the wedding.  Jing-Mei takes care of one of the prisoners.  It is a woman who desperately wants to see her child before she is locked up and is unable to see her for a long time.  Carter and Abby take care of an officer that is injured.  Elizabeth speaks to the limo company that was suppose to pick her up to take her to the church.  The person on the phone tells her that they are unable to because of the heavy rain.  This does not make Elizabeth happy at all, She chews the man out and tells him a few choice words.  Luka and Yosh greet a van load of female prisoners.  Some are injured and some are not.  Mark runs to catch the El, but finds out that it is not running.  Something has fallen on the tracks.  He will have to hop on a bus.  Mark barely squeezes on to an already full bus load.  Carter tries to resuscitate the cop he has been working on, but Luka tells him to call it.  Kerry's flight has been cancelled and she is waiting in the airport lounge.  A man named Mike buy's her a drink as she waits.  Rena comes to meet Carter to go to the wedding.  Carter is tending to a prisoner who is in very bad pain.  She has a dislocated shoulder.  Carter wants to give her some pain medication, but she tells him that she is a recovering heroin addict and does not want any.  Elizabeth and her mom drove themselves to the church.  When they arrive, Elizabeth has a great surprise.  Her father is there, and she is very happy to see him.  The bus that Mark is on breaks down, so he has the driver to let him off.  Jing-Mei is still taking care of Sarah, the inmate who broke parole to see her seven-year-old daughter.  Carter and Rena work on pulling the woman's shoulder back in place and Luka walks in.  He sees that the woman is in a lot of pain, so he tells Abby to give her some morphine.  Carter explains that the woman has requested not to, because of her addiction.  Luka does not care and tells Abby to medicate her anyways.  This again upsets Carter, so he and Rena leave.  Peter is ready to leave for the wedding and he asks Cleo if she got Malucci to cover for her.  She tells him that she does not want to attend his ex-girlfriend's wedding.  Mark comes back in to the ER looking for a ride to the church.  Peter lets him ride with him.  On their way to the church, Peter and Mark discuss Elizabeth's family.  Mark is nervous about meeting Elizabeth's father.  Peter tells him that the man is okay.  Mark is surprised that Peter has met him, then he realizes that they met when Elizabeth and Peter were seeing each other.  Jing-Mei's patient makes a run for it.  She tries to escape to see her daughter.  The police catch her and tackle her down in the ER.  She screams out that she has to see her daughter.  Jing-Mei watches on and feels her grief.  Mike sees that Kerry is still waiting on her flight.  He joins her at her table.  Mark and Peter are still stuck in traffic.  Mark gets out of the car and climbs on top of it.  He sees that there is a traffic accident up the road, so he decides to go check to see how long it will be until it is cleared up.  A young boy is brought in to the ER.  He is unconscious and is suffering from hypothermia.  Luka sees Abby and asks her if she is mad at him.  She tells him that she isn't, but that he was too hard on Carter.  She wants him to know that Carter is her good friend.  Carter and Rena arrive at the church.  She mentions something about Abby and he tells her that he and Abby really never went out.  They see Malucci carrying a heavy gift.  It is a crock pot.  Carter asks him if he replied to the invitation to let them know he would attend, but he hadn't.  Malucci thinks that they won't mind, since the heavy rain is keeping others from coming.  They then see that Romano has come and has his date with him.  They seemed surprised that he was even invited.  Jing-Mei sees that the young boy is awake.  She tells him that he is in the hospital and not to be afraid.  He tells her that his name is Bryan and that he parent's forgot about him.  He tells her that they work a lot and sometimes they forget.  Mark sees what the traffic hold up is.  A man and his wife have ran in to each other.  They are arguing about their separation and her husband's new girlfriend.  The woman is in labor and needs to get to the hospital.  The husband wants to go with them, but she does not want him near her.  Mark catches a ride on the ambulance.  As he is trying to get into the ambulance, he hits his head with the door and his nose starts to bleed.  Elizabeth is worried about Mark.  She thinks he may have changed his mind about getting married.  He has not been answering his cell phone.  Elizabeth's mother tells her that he probably doesn't have his phone on.  Elizabeth tells her parents that she doesn't know what she would do without Mark.  They tell Elizabeth that they will have a wonderful life together.  Mark arrives at the ER again.  He has to get another shirt, because the one he had on has blood all over it from his bloody nose.  Elizabeth is still worried about Mark, but that all changes when Romano comes in to see her.  He tells her that Mark is on his way.  He also tells her that Mark is a lucky man, and she replies with a smile, "I know".  Kerry's companion gets to board for his flight.  He leaves her a card and wants her to call when they both are back in town.  He leaves and she takes the card and puts it with the rest of the trash from the table.  Jing-Mei speaks with the boy's father and tells him that they should be more careful to pick him up.  He tells her that he and his wife are going through a divorce and the boy does not know this yet.  She tells him that it isn't a good excuse.  She later calls to check on her baby boy that she had put up for adoption.  She can hear him laughing in the background and she thanks the adoptive mother for the pictures that she had sent.  Mark has finally arrived at the church, thanks to Doris giving him a lift in the ambulance.  He takes his place in the church and watches as Elizabeth is walked down the aisle by her father.  When she takes her place next to him, she tells him that it is nice for him to show up.  He replies, "It was raining".

ODDS AND FATE ARE STACKED AGAINST DRS. GREENE AND CORDAY AS THEY FIGHT TO GET TO THEIR WEDDING -- On their rainy wedding day, Drs. Greene (Anthony Edwards) and Corday (Alex Kingston) must fight fate to get to the altar as he overcomes several roadblocks until he is waylaid in the street by a nasty bleeding pregnant woman (guest star Alex Kapp Horner) -- meanwhile, she contends with last-minute details and her feuding divorced parents (guest stars Judy Parfitt and Paul Freeman). Elsewhere, several ER staff try to free themselves from work to attend the ceremonies, including Dr. Finch (Michael Michele) and Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle), ever mindful of the irony that he once dated Corday. However, the uninvited Dr. Weaver (Laura Innes) heads for an out-of-town medical conference and meets a friendly and appreciative man (guest star Casey Biggs). When a prison van overturns, Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) tries to save the life of a crushed corrections officer -- and gets some ribbing about his young girlfriend (guest star Lourdes Benedicto) -- while Abby (Maura Tierney) treats a teenaged female prisoner (guest star Mandy Freund). Dr. Chen (Ming-Na) ministers to a hypothermic boy (guest star Ryan Wilson) found asleep on a frozen field. Goran Visnjic, Paul McCrane and Erik Palladino also star.

wedding.gif (72253 bytes) wedding2.gif (66486 bytes)April 19, 2001: April Showers: It's Corday and Greene's wedding day, but — amid a heavy rain that shows no sign of letting up — they seem to be encountering nothing but trouble in getting to the church on time. Things begin on a sentimental note as Corday's mother presents her with earrings that have been in the family for three generations. Then Greene realizes that he left his wallet at the hospital, and his trip to retrieve it becomes a series of misadventures that includes his car being towed. Corday has her own auto difficulties — the limousine service knows nothing about arrangements to pick her up. In another storyline, the ER staff deals with injuries caused by an overturned prison van.

Mark must overcome numerous obstacles, mostly weather-related, in order to get to the church to marry Elizabeth, who is stuck with both of her bickering, divorced parents. Abby has a major cold, but cannot leave the hospital, due to most of the nurses being at the wedding. Many patients come in to the ER from an accident involving a prison van; Luka and Carter clash over the treatment of an injured cop and a prisoner with a dislocated shoulder. While waiting for a flight to Vegas, Weaver (who wasn't invited to the wedding), strikes up a conversation with a friendly man. Chen misses her son. Cleo doesn't want to go to the wedding, because the bride is Peter's ex-girlfriend.
