Two
detectives have showed up at Kim Legaspi's
place and they meet Kerry Weaver as she steps
outside to pick up the morning paper.
They ask her if she is Dr. Legaspi and she
tells them no. They ask to come in.
Abby is awoken by Luka too early in the
morning for her. He tells her that he is
looking for a new place for them in the
warehouse district. She is not too
thrilled about it. He tells her that she
is not a morning person and she throws a
pillow at him. Carter wakes up after
being greeted by a black dog. He is
startled and then realizes that he has spent
the night with Rena. She tells him that
Norman, the dog, must really like him.
Rena's room-mate doesn't seem to be too happy
about Carter and Rena making too much noise
all night. Rena fixes Carter eggs for
breakfast and they make plans to meet at the
hospital later for lunch. The detectives
ask Kim about Shannon Wallace. She is
the young woman who caused the train
derailment while trying to commit suicide in
"The Crossing" episode. Kerry
sneaks out as they question Kim in the other
room. Mark and Elizabeth are on their
way into work. She is doing a lot better
and has not had any contractions in two weeks.
Amira and Jing-Mei tease Carter about
receiving a gift basket from Rena. Kerry
sees Kim at work and learns that the
detectives were questioning her because of a
complaint. Shannon Wallace is accusing
Kim of sexual harassment. She told the
detectives that when Kim was examining her
mental status, that she made a move on her.
Kerry knows better, but is worried that the
news might get out that she and Kim are a
couple. An elderly woman comes in to one
of the curtain areas and takes a seat on a
gurney. Mark asks her if he can help
her, but she says that it is not necessary.
She tells him that she is dieing. She
read it in the tarot cards. She takes
Mark's hand and begins to read his palm.
She tells him that he has a crack in his
lifeline. She then tells him that she
will be dead by sundown. Luka and Kerry
are working on a patient when one of the
detectives come in to question her. He
asks her what her relationship is with Dr.
Legaspi and she replies that they are
colleagues. He then wants to know why
she was at her apartment so early in the
morning. She tells him that she doesn't
have any time for his questions and then walks
out of the room. Luka has listened to
the conversation and Kerry begins to worry
about gossip and rumors. Elizabeth sees
that Peter has pretty much taken over her
duties while she has been out on leave.
She finds Dr. Romano and tells him that she is
ready to begin doing her job again. He
puts her on light duty by having her get files
together for a Q and A. A woman, Mrs.
Jeffrey's, brings in her sick baby girl.
Luka and Abby tend to her. Kerry speaks
to Luka privately about what he may have
overheard in the conversation with the
detective. Kerry gets called to Romano's
office. When she arrives, Kim is on her
way out after being questioned. Malucci
takes care of a young man, in a green cape,
who is a basement wrestler. He has
sliced his forehead with a razor. Mark
finds it to be a very stupid act. Romano
tells Kerry that she will have to meet with
him, Kim, and Anspaugh later for an emergency
disciplinary hearing regarding the allegations
about Kim. He wants to know if she has
noticed any inappropriate behavior between her
and the other ladies in the hospital, and she
tells him that this is just a witch hunt.
Carter meets Rena in the cafeteria for lunch.
He learns that she is an undergraduate and
that she will be 20 in September. Carter
is shocked that he has slept with a teenager.
He goes to the ER and asks Abby if he can
speak with her for a moment. Abby is
watching baby May while the mother takes a
break. She leaves the baby for a moment
to speak with Carter. Carter tells her
the situation with Rena and Abby finds it to
be amusing. The baby's mother sees Abby
and asks her if her baby has been taken to
another area and Abby tells her know.
When she returns to the room, the baby is
gone. The mother becomes frantic and
Abby begins to search all over for the missing
baby girl. A policeman questions Abby as
Dr. Legaspi tries to calm the mother down.
Kim learns that the woman is divorced.
Abby tells the police that they should quit
asking so many questions and start looking for
the baby. Kerry speaks with Kim about
her meeting with Romano. Kim sees that
Kerry is more concerned about being labeled as
a lesbian, that concern for Kim's job.
Mark speaks to the wrestler about taking
steroids, after Malucci tells him not to.
The wrestler ends up in a rage and knocks Mark
down. The wrestler runs out and Malucci
goes after him. The wrestler has been
taking steroids and is afraid that his father
will be upset and mad about it. Malucci
suspects that he is being abused, so he talks
the boy into coming back in. He tells
him that he will not call his father if he
comes in and lets them take care of his hand.
Mrs. Jeffreys holds a news conference.
Abby can't handle much more, so she goes
outside to have a smoke. Luka comes out
to check on her. She tells him to leave
her alone. He does not listen and
continues to tell her that everything will be
okay and to come back inside. Mark and
Malucci have a confrontation after he learns
that Mark called for the wrestler's father to
come in. Malucci had given the boy his
word that they would not do that.
Malucci tells Mark that the old Dr. Greene
would not have done that. Mark tells him
that he is still the same as he was before the
tumor. Malucci tells him that maybe
there is something about his competency in
treating patients. Mark tells him if he
keeps it up, he will be out of a job.
Malucci goes in to check on the wrestler.
He sees that the father is being verbally
abusing and he asks to speak with him out in
the hall. They begin to argue and
Malucci head-butts him. Abby is having a
hard time concentrating on her patients.
She can't keep her mind off the mother and the
missing baby. She hears a call on the
radio. They have found a baby that was
abandoned on the El platform. They bring
the baby in and it is the missing girl.
Abby is relieved. Mark sees Malucci and
tells him to go home and not to come back for
the rest of the week. Kerry is on her way to
the disciplinary meeting when she sees Mark
and Elizabeth on their way out. She
hands him an envelope and tells him that she
meant to give it to him earlier. It is
form the competency testing Mark took.
He reads the results and then tears it up.
Elizabeth is disappointed. He then tells
her that he passed. Carter sees Rena and
tells her that she is too young for him to
date. She seems to understand.
Kerry arrives at the meeting. Anspaugh,
Romano, and Kim are already there.
Anspaugh seems to support what Kim did.
He knows that she is not guilty of the
accusations. Romano seems to disapprove.
He asks Kerry what her opinion is. Kerry
is too afraid to speak the truth regarding
their relationship, but she does account for
Kim's good work. This is not enough for
Romano, so he tells Kim that she will be on
administrative leave until all this is
settled. Kerry tries to apologize to
Kim, but Kim is not ready to accept it.
Abby sees Mrs. Jeffreys. Abby tells her
that she would like the baby to stay overnight
for observation. Abby has pulled some
strings and gotten them a private room where
she can stay with her baby. Abby asks
her if there is anything else that she needs,
and she replies " I have everything I
need" in regards to having her baby back.

After Abby leaves the
room for a second, an infant disappears from the
hospital. After spending the night at her place,
Carter is shocked to find out that Rena is a
19-year-old undergraduate. Greene gets his
competency results--he passed (was there ever
any doubt?). Malucci and Mark treat a young boy
injecting steroids who is frightened of his
father. Legaspi has been accused of sexual
misconduct by the teenager who caused the train
crash. Weaver is more concerned with hiding
their relationship, so Kim dumps her.
