Peter is home at Jackie’s singing with Reese.  Jackie walks in to the room.  She is still grieving over the death of Jesse and is having a hard time sleeping.  Peter tells her that he can come home early to help out with Thanksgiving dinner, but she tells him that she will not be fixing a big dinner.  She thought he was going to Cleo’s for dinner.  Elizabeth and Mark are at home and he is still having pain in his neck.  The doorbell rings and Elizabeth answers the door.  When she answers it, she gets served papers.  She is being sued for malpractice.  Abby drives her mother to the bus station.  Maggie does not want to go home.  Maggie gets out of the car and tells Abby that she loves her and Abby drives off in the rain.  Peter comes in to work and has Reese with him.  Cleo says hello to them and Peter tells her that he is looking forward to meeting her parents at dinner.  Dr. Chen and Dr. Carter are both late for work and Kerry is starting to get agitated by it.  She is on her way out when they come in.  She tells them that Luka is the Attending and Mark will be in later.  Kerry is wearing contact lenses and Dr. Legaspi tells her that she looks nice.  Abby comes in to work and Kerry asks her about her mother.  She tells her that she is on her way back to Florida.  Abby and Luka make plans to have dinner together.  A man is brought in after being hit by a mini-van while riding his bike.  Abby’s mom comes running up as they are unloading the man from the ambulance.  The man still has the bike around him or in him.  Maggie tells Abby that she couldn’t leave her.  Abby tells her to get some dry clothes on, but Maggie follows her to the trauma room.  Carter takes care of a man named Mr. Florea who is drunk and has cut his hand.  He is also complaining of pain in his knee.  Carter suspects that he is wanting pain killers after Conni tells him that he has been in the ER three times this week.  Carter refers him to a clinic for pain management. Elizabeth Has been called to Romano's office.  He chews her out really good about the incident with Mr. Patterson.  He is upset because his name is in the lawsuit also.  A woman is waiting for Romano, so he needs to leave.  He tells Elizabeth not to speak to anyone about the incident.  Maggie has changed in to some dry scrubs.  A woman comes in looking for the guy that was on the bicycle.  Randi tells her to wait in chairs, but Maggie takes her to the trauma room.  Luka and Abby are working with him and Abby learns that his name is Jim Eakins.  Abby goes to get more supplies and sees Maggie in the hall.  Maggie tells her that the woman is the bicycle rider’s wife.  The woman tells them that she is not the wife, but the one who hit the man.  They are unable to save him and he dies.  Maggie comforts the woman. Luka finds Abby outside smoking a cigarette.  He tells her that he thought she had quit, but I guess her mother being back made her want to smoke again.  A woman comes in looking for Dr. Chen.  Randi points her to sit in chairs.  The woman sits by Maggie.  They talk and they have something in common.  Both of their daughters work at the hospital.  The woman mentions that Jing-Mei Chen is her daughter and Maggie tells her that she must be happy about becoming a grandmother..  Jing-Mei walks in and her mother and her eyes meet.  Then her mother’s eyes move toward Jing-Mei’s large mid-section.  Mrs. Chen tells her to come home for Thanksgiving dinner.  Jing-Mei isn’t ready for the whole family to know about it and doesn’t want to go.  Carter comes and tells Dr. Chen that he needs her help.  She is happy that he has pulled her away.  She makes sure that she tells her “mummy” not to tell her father.  Cleo asks Peter to come and look at a patient named Debby Marlin.  She has had breast cancer and she is in a lot of pain.  She is not able to get her morphine at her local pharmacy because they quit carrying it due to robberies.  Peter has Cleo give her Percocet, but she suggest that they admit her for pain control.  Peter thinks that this is a good idea.  A twenty-five year old man is brought in by the paramedics.  He was found downstairs of the hospital.  He is throwing up and Elizabeth starts to tend to him with Abby’s help.  Abby finds a crack pipe in his pockets.  Elizabeth goes to intubate him, but she begins to get sick.  She throws up and Abby intubates him with Elizabeth’s help.  Chen comes in to take over.  Maggie watches on as Abby takes care of the patient.  Carter gets the results back on his patient Mr. Florea.  The film looks normal and Carter knew he was faking the pain.  The radiologist, Dr. Phil Tobiason, shows him an ultrasound film and it shows that the patient has a large blood clot in his knee.  Carter is told that the patient left, so he runs after him.  Carter finds him at the El station and he has collapsed and is unconscious.  Carter calls for help.  Carter brings Mr. Florea in and Chuny helps with him.  Carter wants to do TPA, but Chuny does not want to assist him with it.  It is a dangerous drug and she is not going to help without following the correct procedures.  Carter does it without her.  Cleo learns that her patient Debby can not be admitted.  Her HMO will not authorize treatment.  Cleo gets really mad about this, but Peter seems to understand.  Chuny has told Luka about what Carter is doing, so he comes to check on him.  Luka tells Carter to quit doing the TPA and they begin to argue.  Chuny sees that the patient is getting better and they stop the shouting match.  Mark takes care of a woman who has cut her hand.  Mark looks as if he is getting sick, like Elizabeth had done earlier, so he gets up and walks out of the room.  He heads to the restroom.  He splashes water on his face and sticks his tongue in and out of his mouth.  Luka comes in and speaks to Mark, but Mark does not speak back.  Marl leaves the restroom and heads back down the hallway.

Maggie and Abby have another argument about Maggie staying.  Maggie tells her that she has no place to go.  She has been evicted and Abby’s brother does not want her to come home to him.  She can’t see how her kids would abandon her after she had taken care of them.  Abby tells her that they took care of her.  She then reminds her of the Thanksgiving in which she chased Abby around the house with a knife.  She was upset because she had been to see her father.  Mark goes to see Dr. Tobiason about his sick spell.  Mark was unable to talk and that is why he had left his patient and went to the restroom.  He tells the doctor about his stiff neck and headaches.  Mark attributes them to his hockey playing a few weeks earlier with Malucci.  Mark has an MRI.  Dr. Chen gives Elizabeth a pregnancy test and it is positive.  Mark learns that he has a brain tumor and needs to see a neurosurgeon.  Kerry gets ready to go out with Dr. Legaspi.  She is singing "Rescue Me" in the shower.  She later meets Dr. Legaspi.  They are drinking and sharing stories.  Kerry mentions that she was married before.  She was married to a surgical resident.  After saying that, she spills her drink.  Abby and Carter discuss her situation with her mother.  As they are talking, Abby sees her patient, Mr. Thal, smoking in his room. She goes in and tells him that he should not be smoking. She smells something funny in the air. She hands him a bedpan to put his cigarette out in.

Maggie is out in the hall talking with Carter. As they are talking, the exam room explodes that Abby and her patient are in. Carter runs to the room and finds Abby on the floor. He carries her out and Maggie asks how she is. Chen ends up at her parent’s house. Her mother tells her that the whole family is there. She still hasn’t told anyone that Jing-Mei is pregnant.  Jing-Mei then tells her that the baby’s father is black.  Her mother grows quiet and Jing-Mei walks out of the house.  Abby has a cracked rib, but she will be okay.  Kerry and Kim are still at the restaurant.  Kim tells her that she will pay for the check, since it is like their second date.  Kerry seems put off by this and mentions that she is not a lesbian.  Kerry knows that Kim is, but doesn’t want her to think that she is.  Kim assumed by the way Kerry had been calling her down for consults so often that she was interested in her in that way.  Kerry tells her that she is sorry, but flattered.  Kerry tells her how beautiful she is.  Cleo, Peter and Reese are on their way home from the hospital on the train. Peter tells her that he is angry that Romano had docked his pay for fighting with Malucci. They then start discussing how the black people at the hospital seem to not get the same care as the white patients. Peter does not see it that way. Cleo mentions that her mother is white and thinks that Peter has a problem with her for not know what it is like to have grown up in the city as a black person. She gets mad and gets off of the train. Carter tells Abby that she can go. He will call her later to check on her. Abby sees her mother still waiting in chairs and she tells her that she can go home with her. Elizabeth comes home to find Mark getting dinner ready. She tells him of her good news. He seems to be happy that she is pregnant. He tells her that he loves her. He does not tell her his news.
