A woman,  Lynn Parker, is brought in after fainting in the grocery store.  She has her four kids with her and she has a baby at home.  Abby is taking care of her.  She has Conni take the children to the pediatric floor to play.  All of her kids are under 8 years old.  Randi gets an envelope for Lucy Knight.   Carter takes it and finds out that she has matched at the hospital for Psych.  Mark has a nurse take care of his dad while he is at work; it is not going too well.  Romano has Luka working over to cover for Kerry's absence.  He tells him that he is fired if he does not.  Luka goes to Doc Magoo's for breakfast and Carol and the twins are there.  She is taking them to their first day at daycare in the hospital.  An woman comes by and tells them that they are a nice looking family.  Carol and Mark talk while working on a patient.  She tells him that Doug wants her to move to Seattle, but Abby interrupts and we do not hear anything else about it.  Luka takes care of a man, Mr. Simpson, who is having anxiety attacks over his divorce and it is causing chest pain.  He confides in Luka and starts crying.  Luka has him stay for observation and tests.  Abby tells Mark that her patient, Lynn, is pregnant.  Abby talks to her and finds out that she was trying to cause a miscarriage by not eating properly.  She can not handle a sixth child.  Carter takes care of a man, Mr. Fazio, after he fell off of a ladder at work.  He complains about a lot of pain, and Carter tells Haleh that he is making it up.  Abby tells mark that she may have talked Lynn into an abortion.  Mark tells her to be careful in the way she handles it and to call OB/GYN.  Cleo takes care of a 16 year old boy, Eli Emerson, after he is brought in after a car accident.  He is worried about his father's 1965 Mustang he just wrecked, but Cleo tells him not to worry.  She has Elizabeth examine him for exploratory surgery, but Elizabeth finds nothing wrong with him.  Cleo is not happy with that, so she gets Peter.  After they make out in the medicine closet in front of Yosh, he goes to see Eli.  Cleo tells him that he is a second opinion and that Elizabeth had already seen him.  Peter agrees to take him to surgery.  Carter gets Mr. Fazio's lab results and finds that he has leukemia. He is interrupted by Jing-Mei, who pulls him into a trauma room with a 10-year-old girl who is having an anaphylactic reaction. Jing-Mei repeatedly tries to intubate the girl but has problems. Carter finally gets so impatient with her that he physically shoves her out of the way.  Abby talks with Lynn and tells her that the kids are okay.  She wants to make sure she knows what she is doing.  She tells Abby that she wants the abortion and that it will be best for her family.  Abby takes her upstairs.  Luka asks Carol about how the twins are doing in daycare and she tells him that the Hathaway girl's last name is Ross.  Her husband, Ken Parker, comes in looking for her and the kids.  Abby tells him that she is okay, but they need to run more tests.  He ends up seeing his wife's name on the board and sees that she is in OB/GYN.  He asks Abby if his wife is pregnant and she will not answer.  He then thinks about an abortion and goes to the 9th floor to find her.  Carter learns that Mr. Fazio is okay and that the lab made a mistake.  It is Luka's patient, Mr. Simpson, who has leukemia.  Pablo comes back in and Carol and Carter take care of him.  Carter is nervous about the way he is acting and he gives him Haldol to sedate him and has him restrained.  Carter ends up having to walk out of the room.  Elizabeth confronts Peter about looking at Eli after she had already told Cleo that surgery was not necessary.  She tells Peter not to scrub in, that she will do the surgery. orders Peter to stop scrubbing and says she will perform the surgery herself. Peter finally stops smirking when she tells him that she has the prerogative to schedule surgical cases, since she is associate chief of surgery.  She later tells Cleo that the boy was okay and it was a pity to have to cut him open.  She tells her to see her next time and not her boy friend.  Cleo finds Peter sleeping in an exam room and she joins him.  Carter apologizes to Carol about the way he acted with Pablo.  He tells her about Lucy matching and Carol gives him some advise.  Abby goes to see Lynn.  She has had the abortion, but the doctor told her should could start trying for another baby soon.  Abby is shocked.  Her husband had forgiven her for her weakness.  Luka tells Mr. Simpson that he has leukemia.  Carol asks Luka if he has any pictures of his family.  He shows her a picture of his wife and daughter at her 4th birthday.  Her name is Jasna.  She asks about a picture of his son, Marco, but he does not have one.   He tells her that all he has to do is close his eyes and he is there.  Carter is having trouble sleeping so he gets up after 2 am and heads for the kitchen.  The nurse that took care of Mr. Greene quit on the first day.  Davis was very rude with her.  Mark has made the living room just like a hospital room and David does not like it.  He gets up in the middle of the night and trips over everything trying to get to the bathroom.  He wakes Mark up and he has wet the bed.  Mark cleans him up and takes care of him.

NBC Review

DRS. BENTON AND CORDAY SPAR OVER HIS NEW LOVER'S SURGICAL REQUEST -- Ex-lovers Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle) and a testy Dr. Corday (Alex Kingston) clash when Benton's current interest, Dr. Finch (Michael Michele), asks him to overrule Corday for surgery on a young boy (guest star Matt Doherty) who may have suffered internal injuries in a car crash. Abby (Maura Tierney) takes a big risk when she advises an exhausted pregnant wife (guest star Kerri Lee Green) with five children to undergo an abortion procedure against the wishes of her unsuspecting husband (guest star Bradley Gregg). Elsewhere, Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) must intimately care at home for his crotchety but humiliated father (guest star John Cullum) after the terminally ill man chases away his latest nurse. Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) reacts harshly to one patient, offers a misplaced diagnosis to another and later offends Dr. Chen (Ming-Na) when they try to save a young girl. Dr. Romano (Paul McCrane) assumes personal command of the ER and displays his typically obnoxious charm. Julianna Margulies, Goran Visnjic and Erik Palladino also star.
