Elizabeth runs home to pick up some papers that she needs for work.  She walks in and finds David Greene standing in his boxer shorts and her slippers on.  He had spent the night there with her mother.  He had told Mark that he was going on a fishing trip.  Jing-Mei is working on Carter's and Lucy's charts.  Malucci wants to know if he can help, but she tells him know.  Luka is on his way home and almost runs over a little girl.  She looks at him and she finishes crossing the street.  She is then hit by another car.  Luka looks at the driver of the other car and he runs off.  He gets out and helps the little girl.  He gets a plumber to drive them to the ER instead of waiting for an ambulance to arrive.  He attempts to do a needle thorocostomy, but nicks an artery and causes lots of internal bleeding.  Elizabeth tells Mark about his father and her mother and he responds by laughing.  Abby takes care of a man with bleeding hemorrhoids.  She has a gut feeling that there is more wrong with him, but Kerry does not want her to do any expensive test.  She goes behind Kerry's back and does the test anyways.  Carol checks out two teen age girls that are afraid that they may have an STD.  She tells them that she is legally obligated to keep the results confidential so they agree to be examined and tested.  One of the girls end up having cervical cancer and Carol has to tell the school where the girl attends so that the boy spreading the disease around can be stopped.  She finds out about this and the girl overdoses on some pills.  Jing-Mei goes up to go over his charts with him.  She asks him how he is feeling.  He asks her how Lucy's memorial service went and she tells him that it was kind of weird.  He is in a lot of pain, but he does not want anybody to know.  The little girl that was hit by the car went up to surgery and is going to be okay.  Luka sees a man being stitched up and he recognizes him.  It is the man that hit the little girl and ran.  He calls the police.  Abby's patient is discharged per Kerry, but Abby tells him that it might be best if he came back in a few minutes with  a flu type problem, so that he can be seen by someone else.  He does come back and he is bleeding really bad.  Kerry tells Abby that it is lucky he came back.  She had saved his life.  Lucy's mother, Barbara Knight comes in to clean her locker out.  She then goes upstairs to visit with Carter.  She thanks him for all that he did for Lucy.  He tells her that she was better than he ever gave her credit for.  She wants to know how it felt when he was stabbed.  He lies by saying that it was quick and that there was no pain.  This helped to ease Lucy's mother's mind.  Carol and Kerry end up pumping the stomach of Andrea after her overdose.  Carol feels a little guilty for having to notify the school about her condition.  Mark goes up to radiology to look at his father's chest x-ray.  It isn't very good at all.  He sees that his father has lung cancer and it has spread to his liver.  Mark's dad has already known this for a while now.

NBC Review

DR. KOVAC GAMBLES TRYING TO SAVE LIFE OF YOUNG HIT-AND-RUN VICTIM -- An off-duty Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) witnesses a hit-and-run accident that leaves a young girl (guest stars Kelsi and Kayli Degregorio) fighting for her life but he second-guesses himself when he elects to transport her to the hospital himself rather than wait for the paramedics -- and wonders if his desperate measures might ultimately kill her. Nurse Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) discovers that a promiscuous 14-year-old schoolgirl (guest star Cara Delizia) has cervical cancer and is torn when the frightened teen refuses to tell her parents. Drs. Greene (Anthony Edwards) and Corday (Alex Kingston) react differently when they discover that their parents (guest stars Judy Parfitt and John Cullum) are getting to know each other very well. New medical student Abby (Maura Tierney) disagrees with Dr. Weaver's (Laura Innes) quick assessment of a sick patient (guest star Christopher Rich). Dr. Greene learns some sobering news from a patient's x-rays. Eriq La Salle, Noah Wyle, Michael Michele, Erik Palladino and Ming-Na also star.
