Dr. Weaver is on her way in to work as Cleo leaves to run an errand.  There is a loud party going on.  She tells them five more minutes and the party will be over.  She goes in to the lounge and hears Abby talking to someone on the phone about a late payment of hers.  Carol's shift is over and she is on her way out.  Kerry walks over to the music and turns it off.  She wants to know why a patient is still on the board and why he has not been seen.  She tells them to find Carter.  Luka tells her what all has been going on and she goes to look at a cupid's x-ray.  Dr. Deraad asks her where Paul Sobricki is.  He has been called down for a Psych consult.  She does not know.  Nobody there seems to know what he looks like.  She walks up to a light board to view an x-ray, but it does not work, so she walks over to another one.  She sees a bloody foot print in front of the exam room and she opens the door.  She covers her mouth and screams at what she sees.  Mark Greene and Corday are still at the restaurant with their parents and they are singing.  They both get paged  to the hospital.  Luka, Abby and Jing-Mei are tending to Carter, while Kerry and Malucci look after Lucy (her throat has been slashed).  Kerry comments, "People are having parties while these two are bleeding to death!".  Nobody seems to know where Paul Sobricki is.  Benton runs down the stairs and runs right in to look at Carter.  He is the only surgeon available until Elizabeth arrives.  Abby runs to find something to assist and the butcher knife falls to the floor.  It is the knife that was missing from the lounge (Lucy had found Paul in the lounge earlier talking about a party).  Carter wakes up and says, "My back...Lucy?".  He looks over and sees Lucy in the next trauma room.  Peter has to stabilize Carter who has bright red blood coming out the foli-cathoder, and he has to perform a tracheotomy on Lucy.  Lucy's heart stops, and they perform a thorocotomy and get it beating again.  Kerry had to open her chest up with a saw type instrument.  Mark and Elizabeth arrive and she goes up to the OR.  Kerry goes outside and throws up.  Romano and Anspaugh are scrubbing in and they are speechless.  Benton work on Carter, who almost loses his kidney, and gets a colostomy.  He told Benton before he went under anesthesia that he was glad it was him working on him.  Kerry speaks to Luka and Mark and ask how they could let something like this happen.  Amy Sobricki walks in looking for Lucy; she had left a message on her answering machine regarding her husband.  Luka takes her aside and tells her what had happened.  She does not believe him and she wants to see Paul, but he is still missing.  Cleo comes back not knowing what happened, Mark fills her in.  A man has been brought in after being hit by a car while running naked in the street.  It is Paul Sobricki.  He is out of his mind and very angry.  Kerry is unable to work on him and she asks Mark to take over.  He keeps yelling out, "Don't cut me, don't cut me!"  Lucy wakes up after her surgery.  Elizabeth tells her that they had to remove her spleen and had to put a trach-tube to help her breathe.  Her liver had also been damaged.  Elizabeth tells her that she can't talk, but she can whisper.  Lucy tells her, Thank you".  Lucy's eyes start getting big and she seems to be in pain.  Elizabeth thinks it might be a pulmonary embolism or she might be throwing a clot.  Downstairs, Paul had a collapsed lung and some bruises.  He is talking with Dr. Deraad and Mark listens on as he is talking crazy( He thinks that Lucy and Carter were stabbing him when they were doing the spinal tap earlier).  The staff go over to Doc Magoo's after work to wait on news about Lucy and Carter.  Romano and Corday try to help Lucy, but she decompensates and they have to crack her chest again.  She loses a lot of blood and her heart stops pumping.  They work hard to save her, but she dies.  Romano slings the tray across the room and then comes back to work some more on her, but Elizabeth knows that it is too late.  She calls the time of death at 2:56 am.  Cleo has brought a man up to the OR for a simple surgery that Benton needs to do, but he is preoccupied with Carter's surgery.  Anspaugh tells him to go on and he does.  Cleo had to perform a thorocotomy to fix the problem, which made Benton upset with her.  He apologized to her afterwards, but she had to tell him the bad news that Lucy didn't make it.  The staff at Doc Magoo's are sharing stories about Carter and Lucy as Chuny comes in.  All she says is "Lucy" and the crowd gets quiet.  They know that she has died.  Carter is awake and has sensations in his legs as Peter checks on him.  Bento tells him that he is lucky and then he asks about Lucy.  Benton doesn't say anything and Carter realizes that she is dead.  Downstairs, Carol is coming in to work.  She doesn't seem to be affected about the news of Carter and Lucy.  The ER is getting busy and Mark has to pull himself together and get back to work.  Kerry walks in to where Lucy is and Romano is closing her chest up.  Kerry starts to cover her up and he tells her that the nurses can do that.  She replies, "I know" and she covers Lucy with a sheet.
