dad is up going through his wife's old record
collection. Mark tells him that he needs
to get seen by a doctor about his emphysema.
Corday's mother is wanting to come and watch
her perform surgery. It is Valentines
day and Amira is decorating for a party that
they are having later. Mrs. Connelly
comes into the ER. She is the wife of a
patient Carter had taken care of after the
nursing home fire a few episodes back.
Carter looks at her and sees that she will not
have much longer to live. Abby Lockhart
treats her and sees that she is in congestive
heart failure. Mrs. Connelly makes it
clear that she is ready to die and not to hook
her up to any tubes or machines. Malucci
and Chen fight over a patient who ends up
being a doctor, Dr. Hudson is his name.
Lucy takes care of a young law student
complaining of head aches. He is 23
years old and his name is Paul Sobricki.
She asks Carter if he would like to examine
him, but he tells her that he trusts her
diagnosis. Mark tells Carter that he
should supervise his student more closely, so
he goes back in to check on Lucy. At
this point, he has altered mental status and
symptoms of meningitis. Carter and Lucy
decide to do a spinal tap to rule this out.
Malik and Carter hold him down, while Lucy
does the tap. He begs them to stop, but
she completes it. The results are
negative. Dr. Corday goes in for a
surgery and sees that Dr. Romano has brought
his dog Gretal in for a procedure. Lucy
tries to get a hold of Paul's wife, but she
can not be found. She does find a friend
and he comes to see Paul. He tells Lucy
how strange Paul has been acting lately and
Paul mentions some recent muggings that have
taken place. Mrs. Connelly talks to Abby
about how sweet her husband use to be on
Valentine's. He would always tell her,
"Be Still My Heart". Dr.
Hudson will need radiation or chemotherapy for
his condition. He request chemo, but he
crashes and they have to do the radiation.
Lucy asks Carter for some help with Paul, but
he doesn't have any time for her. Carter
ends up telling Lucy to pass him on over to
Psych. because he seems to have some mental
problems. Elizabeth's mother comes to
the hospital to see her operate, but sees her
with a dog instead. A family is
brought in after a car accident. The
mother and father were seriously injured, but
the children are okay with some scrapes and
bruises. The mother and father die after
the staff try to save them and Luka and Carol
tell the children. The kids names are
Robby and Julia. Robby wants to see his
parents. Randi comes in for her shift.
Lucy finds Paul in the lounge and he notices
that there is going to be a party.
Carter asks Lucy why Psych. hasn't been down
to get him and she tells them that they are
backed up. He wants her to see another
patient. Mark, Elizabeth, her mom, and
his dad all go to dinner. David Greene
ends up on stage singing. Abby watches
as Mrs. Connelly takes her last breath.
She goes to the roof and Carter goes up to
check on her. This was her first time
she saw some one old die. They remember
the party, so they head back down.
Carter sees that Lucy see the man he told her
to treat, so he goes to check on her. At
the party, the music is loud and they can't
find the big knife to cut the cake with.
Carter goes into the room and sees a Valentine
card on the floor. He reaches down to
pick it up and starts to read it. We see
Paul come out of the shadows behind him and
stab Carter in the back. He reaches back
in pain and sees blood on his hand. He
says, "Somebody" and he falls to the
floor. As he struggles on the floor his
eyes grow bigger. The view he sees is
from under the bed. He sees Lucy on the
floor covered in blood also stabbed. She
is still moving a little and her eyes are big.

DIRECTS -- As Valentine's Day nears, Dr. Corday
(Alex Kingston) holds her breath when her
domineering mother and surgeon (guest star Judy
Parfitt, "Ever After") wants to "observe" her at

lives of the parents of two quaking children
