Malucci rides his bike to work and Kerry tells him not to be parking it in the lounge.  Dr. Lawrence is very forgetful and everyone seems to be noticing it except for Kerry.  Elaine comes to see Carter.  She tells him that she is going to Europe for a while.  She thanks him for being there for her and she apologizes to him for dodging his phone calls.  Dr. Dave is asking around the ER if any one knows what happened to Kerry's leg.  Nobody seems to know.  Carol sees Meg again and gets suspicious about her doing drugs.  Meg tells her that all she has been taking is her prenatal vitamins, but Carol learns that she has been taking heroin too.  Carol wants to get her into a detox program.  Jeanie is back at work and hates having to leave Carlos.  She is distracted throughout the day.  Lucy takes care of a starving artist who has been eating paint and using cocaine.  She wants to get him into a program to detox.  A high school science lab has an explosion and the teacher and some students are brought in.  The teacher, Mr. Perez,  is not expected to live.

Dr. Lawrence gets really confused and can't keep all the patient's and their conditions straight in his head.  He lashes out at Kerry during a procedure.  She is trying to tell him the simplest way to do it, but he can't remember anything but how he use to do it in the olden days.  Kerry now sees what everyone has been talking about.  She goes outside to talk with him.  Peter treats one of the boys that was in the explosion.  The father and brother of the teen age boy is with him.  They tell Peter that they would like to donate their blood instead of having to use any one else's.  Peter later tells the brother of the patient that his blood tested positive for the H.I.V. virus.  The boy doesn't want Peter to tell his father.  Peter tells him that he really needs the support of his family and that he should tell, but he tells him no.  Lucy gets upset with Carol because Carol got Meg into the rehab space that she had already gotten her paint eating patient in.  Not the artist will have to leave and Lucy worries about his well being.  Carter takes care of the boy, Howie, who accidentally caused the science lab explosion.  The jocks had talked him into doing a small explosion, but the teacher had changed the experiments around and it caused a bigger one.  One of the jocks that was injured lost his eye and was suppose to have gotten a full athletic scholarship.  The man gets upset with the boy who caused the explosion and Carter has to step in.  The man punches Carter and slams him into the window.  Mark has to step in and pull the man off of Carter.  While doing so, he breaks the man's larynx and the man codes.  Mark and Carter save his life.  Howie tells Carter that he really likes Mr. Perez and he would have never hurt him on purpose.  Dr. Dave tends to a teenage girl that was burned in the explosion.  Nothing he tells her makes her feel better.  She cries and he asks Lucy if she could help him with her.  Kerry confronts Malucci with the questions about her leg.  He acts like he wasn't talking or asking about it.  She tells him that it is none of his business.  John goes to see Elaine before she leaves for Europe.  She answers the door and tells him that she doesn't want any sympathy.  She shows him her scar and they embrace.  Kerry is leaving work and goes to her car.  She sees Dr. Lawrence looking for his car.  He thinks it has been stolen.  He always parks it on Level 4.  Kerry tells him that he is on Level 3.  He feels dumb and she can see what kind of confused state he is in.
