There is a new attending physician, Gabriel
Lawrence. He is an old teacher of Kerry
Weaver's. Elaine Nichols is having her
mastectomy today. Romano has a reporter
coming to the ER to do an article. He
wants Corday to let her follow around the
staff in the ER. She gets in a lot of
people's way and see a lot of interesting
things. Reece gets an ear infection and
Cleo takes a look at him for Benton. She
tells him that things like that run in the
family and was wondering if he had a lot of
ear infections as a child. Peter didn't,
so he wonders if what Carla told him is true
about Reece might not being his son. Dr.
Lawrence discharges one of Mark's patients and
they tend not to get along. Carter goes
up to see Elaine, but she wants him to go
away. He tells her that he is there for
her. A man comes in looking for his
cousin who has been shot. They tell him
that he can't go back there. He goes
back any ways. The cousins heart rate
starts going faster. The boy can't talk,
but he makes a gun signal from his hand.
His cousin is the one who shot him. The
man takes off and opens fire. No one
gets shot, but the man runs off after he runs
out of ammo. Jeanie and Reggie are on
their way to get married and to go on their
honey moon. The nurses give her some
gifts and Kerry tells her that she needs to
speak to her in the lounge. Jeanie goes
in and they have baby Carlos. They tell
her that she can have him on a temporary
basis. Dr. Kovach and Lucy take care of
a woman who is being abused. They find
out that it is her husband who has been
hurting her. They try to get her to
press charges, but she won't. Luka holds
him until Psych can come down. They are
unable to do anything with the man if the
woman doesn't want to press charges.
Luka makes him angry until he punches him.
Now the police can take over, but the man gets
to leave with his wife anyways. Dr.
Lawrence makes a mistake with a young girl who
has Sickle Cell disease. Mark finds out
and they have to run after the girl and her
parents before the leave. The 12 year
old girl has an ectopic pregnancy and could
have died. Reggie and Jeanie go to a
Justice of the Peace to get married.
They need two witnesses, but Randi is
the only one to show. Kerry Weaver is
suppose to be there. They end up getting
a U.P.S. guy to be the other witness.
Elaine's surgery goes well and she will get to
go home tomorrow. Kerry tells Dr. Kovach
that he is no longer needed since Dr. Lawrence
has arrived. Kovach is walking home and
Carol gives him a ride. He lives on a
boat.

TV Guide Review
October 14, 1999: Lawrence of Northwestern:
Alan Alda makes his first appearance as
surgeon Gabriel Lawrence, an old friend of
Weaver's who joins the staff as an attending
physician. Lawrence arrives at the hospital and,
almost immediately, he's splattered with the
blood of a stabbing victim and snaps on a pair
of gloves to assist in the ER. When he meets Dr.
Greene, the younger doctor showers the
accomplished surgeon with compliments. But the
two physicians later clash when Lawrence takes
the liberty of discharging one of Greene's
patients. Meanwhile, Kovac suspects a case of
spousal abuse, and the ER is the scene of a gun
battle.

TNT Review
