Carol
is asleep on the couch when her mother comes
in. She
wants to know where Doug is.
Carol tells her that he is gone, but
Helen thinks he has already gone to work.
Carol does not tell her any different.
Carol goes to stand up and gets dizzy.
Her mother asks her if she is okay and
Carol tells her yes.
She offers to make her breakfast, but
Carol tells her that she will be late for
work. Peter
calls in and speaks with Romano.
He tells him that he has an
appointment, but Romano tells him that a
surgery has been rescheduled and he has to
come in. Peter will not be able to go to Reese’s open house.
Reese ends up putting his hearing aid
in the toilet.
Kerry is at a nursing home visiting an
older woman.
She tells someone on staff there that
the woman is in congestive heart failure and
needs some help.
The staff will not help Kerry because
the woman is an L.P.N..
They do not have medical facilities.
The woman’s name is Mrs. Brennan and
she is Kerry’s mother.
She is a D.N.R., but Kerry takes her to
the ER anyway.
Lucy starts her Psych rotation today.
Carter is Senior for the day.
That means that he is in charge of the
ER. This
is to help him along in becoming a chief
resident someday.
It is April Fools Day and Jerry is very
happy. He
has the opportunity to play jokes on everyone.
A father brings in his three-year-old
son and he will not wake up.
Kerry is with the paramedics who bring
her mom in.
Carter sees that the woman is a D.N.R.,
but Kerry wants to save her.
She wants everything done for this
woman. She
does not let them know that she is her mother.
Elizabeth is discharging Mobalage.
Mark speaks to a lawyer who tells him
that he will only get a continuance for a
physical disability.
Mark takes it upon himself to readmit
him to keep him from being deported. Mark tells Mobalage and his wife that he will have to tell a
psychiatrist and a judge about his torture.
If he can’t, he will be deported.
Carol and Elizabeth speak outside of
the hospital.
Carol tells her that she does not want
to be a single mom.
She also tells Elizabeth that she has
not told Doug yet.
Kerry checks on Mrs. Brennan.
She is asking for Claire.
Kerry looks confused, but she responds
by telling her that she is at the hospital and
that she is in good care.
Carter learns that his young patient
that was brought in by his father has ingested
cocaine that was lying around the house.
Mobalage wants Mark with him when he
speaks to the lawyer and psychiatrist.
Mobalage has a hard time telling the
story of his capture.
He can not remember all of the details.
Mark tells them that Mobalage has
posttraumatic stress disorder.
This is the reason for his
forgetfulness. The lawyer says that he will still have to tell the whole
story to be able to stay in the country.
Coco is back after having had a baby in
the streets. She has been off of her medication since the last time she
was seen in the ER.
Kerry has her put back on her haldol.
Coco wants to see her baby, but Carol
and Carter are checking on him to make sure he
is okay.
She thinks Carol is trying to steal her
baby, so she goes to attack her and Kerry
steps in to help.
Security comes and gets Coco
restrained.
Peter gets upset when he learns that
the surgery he had to come in for has been
rescheduled for a later time.
This has caused Reese to have to stay
at the hospital daycare longer.
Elizabeth mentions to Peter that she's
applying for a new trauma surgery fellowship
in the summer.
She mentions that the hours are better.
Later on, Peter speaks with Kerry about
doing a paper together on the sternal saw
study. She
doesn’t seem too interested.
He also mentions about the fellowship
that Elizabeth was telling him about.
She tells him that he will need to
speak with Anspaugh about it.
Kerry does not want Romano to know
about the new position.
Carol goes to check on Coco.
The haldol is working and she is a lot
calmer now.
Coco tells Carol that she is sorry for
the way she was behaving.
Coco lets Carol know that she will stay
on her medication now that the baby is born.
Coco wants to keep her baby.
A woman brings in her four-month-old
baby. Carter
is taking care of her.
Carter gets a x-ray and runs some test
to see what the problem is.
The woman also has her other child with
her and he is very disruptive and Carter
notices that he has a cast on his arm. When Carter gets the chest x-ray back, the technician shows
that the child has four rib fractures.
Carter then takes it upon himself to
call security and the Department of Children
and Family Services ( D.C.F.S.).
Carter tells the mother, Mrs. Leason,
that she can not take her kids with her.
The police come and hold the woman.
Mark talks with Kubby about her
husband’s torture.
He has never been able to speak with
her about it.
She tells Mark that she will go with
her husband if he has to leave the country.
She thanks him for all of his help.
Carol checks on Mrs. Brennan.
She does not see any improvement.
Kerry is in there with her and Carol
asks her why she is treating her so
aggressively when the woman has a D.N.R..
Carol gets upset because of the way
Kerry treated Doug when he did things like
this. After
arguing for a short while about it, Kerry
tells her that Mrs. Brennan is her mother.
Carol and Kerry speak about it.
Kerry did not expect to find her mother
and have her be so old.
Carol apologizes and tries to help.
Peter finally gets to do the surgery
that he came in early to do. Romano tells him that he can go home to his
munchkin.
Peter tells him that his name is Reese.
Elizabeth sees Peter and asks him why
he butted in to her ER fellowship.
He tells her that he doesn't like
cardio thoracic and that it seemed like a good
opportunity to spend more time with Reese.
She hates the way he used Reese for
that and tells him so.
Elizabeth tells him to put in for it,
but she will still get it.
Carter sees Sam again about the x-rays
on the infant that was being abused.
There were twenty-eight fractures all
together.
They also see a fifth rib fracture that
wasn't there before.
They decide that the baby has a rare
condition called osteogenesis imperfecta.
This means that the bones break like
glass. Carter
now has to tell the mom.
Kerry speaks with the detective who
found her mom.
Kerry tells him that the woman’s
blood type would mean that she was not her
mother. She
then fires him.
Kerry then goes in and checks on Mrs.
Brennan.
She is asking again for Claire, who
happens to be the woman’s daughter. Kerry tells her that she is Claire and that “I love you
mom”. Mark
goes to the restroom and remembers his attack
that had happened a few years earlier.
This makes him tell Mobablage to help
him open up about his abuse.
Mobalage is able to tell the whole
story. Carol
ends up going to make an OB appointment.
She has decided to have her and
Doug’s baby.

suffering from a deadly bone disease. Meanwhile,
as Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) struggles with
