Carol is up at 3:15 am.  Carter is on his paramedic ride-along with Unit 47.  He has a lady who thinks that she is a bird and has locked herself into a cage.  Carol picks up the phone to call Doug.  Kerry tends to a wrestler named Kornberg.  Malik tells him that wrestling is fake and the wrestler picks him up and starts to wrestle him.  Kerry yells for security and Malik and the wrestler start to laugh.  They had planned on doing that to get Kerry riled up.  Lucy takes care of Mrs. Fong.  Her son and daughter-in-law are with her.  Mrs. Fong is Chinese and Lucy has a hard time communicating with her.  Jerry and Malik have their pictures taken with Kornberg.  He has bleeding inside of his knee.  He tells Kerry that he would rather be a farmer and raise sugar beets.  Lucy tells the Fong's that their mother has a tumor in her lung and that it has traveled to her brain.  They knew about the tumor and they do not want the mother to find out.  They do not want Lucy to tell her either.  Lucy speaks with the grand-daughter and she had not been told either.  Lucy tells them that she would probably want to fight the cancer.  Carter and the paramedics get caught in a riot.  They have come to pick up a "slumlord" and the residents are unhappy about their living conditions.  They are upset with the landlord for turning off their heat.  He tells them that he will turn it back on when they pay their rent.  They begin to throw things and Carter and Zadro get back in the ambulance.  Lars is unable to get in, so Carter tells them that he will drive.  Carter tries to drive off as they are rocking the ambulance and Carter backs over someone.  Lucy mentions the word cancer while speaking to Mrs. Fong and she begins to have seizures.  The family blames Lucy for telling her.  Mark runs in to Carol on their way into work.  Carol is still having headaches and Mark tells her that he wants to do a CT.  She tells him that she is okay.  Mr. Fong wants to see someone else for his mother's care.  Maggie Doyle tells him that Lucy is doing everything properly.  After the elderly Mrs. Fong wakes up, she does not remember being brought to the hospital.  Lucy tells her that she is their because she had a seizure due to her epilepsy (not cancer).  A seventeen-year-old named Avery is brought in to the ER after having been run over by an ambulance.  Carter was not suppose to be driving the ambulance when it happened.  Jeanie is back at work.  Kerry tells her that Al has called and that he is concerned about her.  Carter talks to Mr. Campbell, the father of the boy he ran over and he thanks Carter for his help.  He does not know that Carter is the one who ran his son over.  He tells Carter that someone will pay for doing that.  She cancels her date with Dr. Graham Baker and tells him that she is seeing someone else.  A patient named Mr. Kingsley is locked in the bathroom and is unresponsive.  Kornberg knocks the door down with his head.  He then collapses with a head injury.  Mobalage is brought in by the police for Mark to see.  He has not spoken since his first day in jail.  His wife is still in intensive care and is in a coma.  A twelve-year-old girl is brought in after a fall from a building.  She fell on a fence and still has a part of it in her.  It is going through her mouth and neck.  Carol is able to use some supplies that Doug had ordered to help her.  Carol tells them that it looks like Doug saved another kid's life and Mark tells Carol that she saved the girl's life.  Reggie wants Jeanie to go out with him, but she tells him that she is seeing someone else.  Paramedic Zadro calls the ER and tells them that his partner has been shot.  The angry mob thought that they were shooting the one who drove over the boy.  Carter wants to scrub in to help the paramedic.  Anspaugh tells him that he can watch from the observation gallery.  Mobalage's wife wakes up and tells Mark that he did not stab her, that she had tried to kill herself.  Mark tells Mobalage that his wife needs him and that she is not dead.  Mobalage will have to be deported because he is an illegal alien.  Al did not infect Jeanie with Hepatitis C.  Carol did not call Doug, she called the Home Shopping Network.  Carol tells Elizabeth that she is pregnant.  Lars, the paramedic dies.

NBC Review

WRESTLING WITH TROUBLE -- The late shift provides County General with some bizarre patient cases including a woman (guest star Peggy Miley) dressed and crowing as a 'birdlady' in a cage and a professional wrestler, Mr. Kornberg (guest star Nils Allen Stewart) with a twisted knee who has Jerry (Abraham Benrubi) absolutely starstruck. Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) is stunned to learn that Mobalage (Djimon Hounsou) may not have been responsible for his wife's (guest star Akousa Busia) stabbing. Later, Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) is mortified to learn that he accidentally injured a man during an emergency ambulance run in which Carter was the driver. Lucy (Kellie Martin) tries to convince a young Mandarin Chinese woman (Lydia Look) that her elderly grandmother (Beulah Quo) should be informed of her cancer -- information that the Fong family has been withholding from their matriarch. Also, Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) struggles with headaches and insomnia. Eriq La Salle, Laura Innes and Alex Kingston also star.
