It
is Halloween and a woman named Coco is brought
in to the ER. She says that she is
pregnant and is talking out of her head.
Kerry is upset because she had sent out a memo
telling everyone not to dress up in costumes,
but they have anyways. Mark and Carol
check out Coco and she does not seem to be
pregnant. Peter is embarrassed by
Elizabeth dressing up for Halloween. He
has something against wearing costumes.
She tells him that there must surely be
something he always wanted to be as a child,
and her replies a doctor, and he is one.
Doug has sent out a memo telling all the staff
that he will need to sign off on all pediatric
cases. Carol tells him that his position
has gone to his head. Carter comes in to
work and Roxanne is with him. He tells
her that he will be chaperoning a Halloween
party at the dorm tonight. She has
somewhere else to go. A drunk named Joe
Chattarowski is brought in. He wants to
get cleaned up and detoxed. Kerry sees
Mark giving someone a tour of the ER.
She asks who he is and is told that it is the
final candidate for the ER Chief position, Dr.
Dan Litvak. Mark checks on Coco and she
has already filled a bag full of urine.
Mark thinks that she was just holding all the
urine to make herself look pregnant, so he
gives her haldol for her delusional condition.
Kerry learns from Mark that Dr. Litvak is on
his second interview. He will learn the
results of the Chief position at the end of
the day. Lucy practices her IV skills on
a fake arm. Carter thinks that this is a
good idea. He tells her that she can do
it on a real patient as soon as she can do it
right. Carla brings Reese by to show him
off in his bumble bee costume. The
haldol has helped Mark's patient. She
tells him that she is a schizophrenic and is
in her first trimester. She went off of
her medication so that she would not harm her
unborn baby. Mark wishes that he would
have done a pregnancy test. The haldol
that was given to her could harm her baby.
Kerry and Peter work on a man . He needs
a sternum saw, but one is not available for
the ER. Jen is back in town and she
will be coming by to pick Rachel up from Mark.
Carter tells Lucy that she can leave to get
ready for the party, he follows behind her.
Joe , the drunk, is back in. He had left
earlier without being seen. This time he
is sure he wants the detox. Kerry is
taking care of a little girl and she
needs to draw some blood for a test. The
girl is afraid of needles. Mark comes in
and tells the father that there is an easier
way. A girl is brought in with her
mother and father after a car accident.
She has to have surgery because of a seatbelt
injury. Her name is Barbie and she is
dresses as a princess. Lucy is dressed
for the party and Carter tells her to look
after it while he goes to the library.
Peter, Dale and Romano do surgery on Barbie.
Dale has Elizabeth take the specimen to the
lab. When she returns, she tells them
that they biopsied what seems to be two
testicles. Barbie is a boy. The
pediatric ER is packed full of kids.
Jeanie and Doug have their hands full.
Rachel tells Mark that they are moving to St.
Louis. Carter returns to the party and
flaming furniture is flying around. Lucy
and most of the rest are drunk. Carter
tells them that the party is over. Mark
pulls some strings and finds a detox bed for
Joe. When they return to get him, they
see that he has left again. Dale talk's
to Barbie's parents and tell them about her
condition. They are shocked. Mark,
Jen and Rachel go to Doc Magoo's. Mark
tells Jen that he knows about them moving and
he does not want to fuss. He tells her
that they have done enough fussing. Back
at the party, Lucy sees another med student
named Willy. He has passed out and is
unresponsive. She tells the others to
call 911 and she runs to get Carter.
Carter sees that he is not breathing and he
does CPR. He has taken liquid ecstasy
and another student has taken it also.
They find him laying unconscious in the
shower. Mark has Al go find Joe.
He wants him brought back to detox.
Peter and Elizabeth are heading out for their
date. She runs to get her costume back
on.
When she sees him outside, he has a
convertible with hay in the back of it for
her. She has wanted to go on a hay ride.
He is dressed as Shaft and his nephew will
chauffer them around. Al returns with
the drunk, but it is not Joe. He has
brought back Lloyd, who happens to be Jerry's
cousin. He is in a wheelchair and has
bandages and other stuff from the ER on him.
Jerry had left it outside for him for a
costume. Kerry compliments Doug on how
he has handled the Pediatric ER. Lucy
and Carter are back with the two students.
She wants to help with them, but Carter will
not let her because she has been drinking.
Kerry gives Jerry a bill for $289.00 for the
supplies he gave Lloyd from the ER. He
tells her that it will be hard for him to pay,
but she does not care. Mark tells Kerry
that Dr. Litvak has been chosen as the new
Chief. He tells Kerry that he had voted
for her though. She turns around and
tears up the bill she gave Jerry. She
could care less now about how the ER gets
managed. Lucy is waiting to speak with
Carter when he returns home. She tells
him that it was hard for her to keep track of
what was happening at the party. He
tells her that he should have known that she
was unable to handle such as that.

NIGHT OF DISCOVERIES -- It's
Halloween night, and with the pediatric ER
filled to capacity, Dr. Ross (George Clooney)
struggles to juggle administrative duties with
his desire to personally treat each child.
Meanwhile, Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) leaves Lucy
(Kellie Martin) in charge of a Halloween party
at the dorm that gets out of hand, and the new
ER Chief is Dan Litvak (guest star Philip
Casnoff, 'Sinatra'), an arrogant doctor from the
East Coast who has already managed to offend
some staffers. Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) and
Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) learn the dreadful
truth when they treat a schizophrenic woman
(guest star Sheila Kelley, 'L.A. Law') who
claims to be pregnant. What began as a surgical
procedure to remove tumors from a young girl
turns into a shocking discovery for Dr. Benton (Eriq
La Salle) and Dr. Corday (Alex Kingston).
Various costumed ER staffers get into the spirit
of the holiday. Gloria Reuben and Laura Innes
also star. Yvonne Zima guest-stars as Greene's
daughter, Rachel.
