Doug
and Kerry go up with Josh McNeal, the baby
that he was rapid detoxing, to the NICU. Dr.
Alexander Babcock,
a pediatric anesthesiologist is there and
seems to support the treatment and does not
see it as Kerry does.
Benton seems to have been embarassed by
Elizabeth on their date last night.
She drank too much and requested a
song. Weaver
and Greene stay overnight in the ER to see how
the baby does.
Mark talks to Carol on the roof about
her involvement in the procedure.
He tells her that he understands that
she was just following doctor's orders, but
she says she did it voluntarily, just as Doug
did. She
does not want him to cover for her actions.
Peter takes Reese to day care at the
hospital.
The worker there tells Peter that she
thinks that Reese is not responding as the
other children do.
Peter doesn't seem to notice a problem.
He thinks that he is just adjusting to
the new environment.
Carol and Jeanie take care of a man who
tried to kill himself.
His name is Mr. Nable and he tells them
that it was just an accident and it won't
happen again.
They call psych to take a look at him
anyways.
Kerry is on her way up to see Anspaugh
about Doug and some other things, but Doug has
beat her to it.
Anspaugh has already gotten Doug's side
of the story and thinks that it was a brave
thing that he did for the baby, but he does
not condone the way he went about it.
Kerry talks to Anspaugh about wanting
to be named permanent Chief of Emergency
Medicine since Morganstern resigned.
He bursts her bubble by telling her
that they will do a national search to fill
the position. That is the procedure for such as that. He tells her that her involvement with the Ellis West and
Synergix fiasco will not help her.
Carol finds Doug sleeping inside the
N.I.C.U. with baby Josh.
It is time to take him off of the
respirator. Dr. Meyers tells Jeanie and Carol that they can not admit the
suicidal man because he seems to not be a harm
to himself or anyone else.
Two Elvis Impersonators are brought in
after a skydiving accident.
Kerry and Mark take care of the old
Elvis and Jeanie and Anna tend to the younger
one. Carter
takes care of a man who is in a coma. His name
is Mr. Lang and his wife tells Carter that he
has a brain stem gliobastoma.
He was treated with radiation, but it
didn't help.
The doctor had told them that they
would have more time. Josh McNeal's mom Vicki comes to see him.
She is happy for her baby and wants the
same done for her.
Benton calls an audiologist to check
out Reese's hearing.
Elizabeth learns that Romano is not
going to sponsor her next year.
She is worried about not being able to
stay in the United States.
Anspaugh tells her that it is too late
for the hospital to find someone else to
sponsor her fellowship.
Carter learns that his coma patient has
a tumor that is causing his cranial pressure
and coma.
Lydia tells Carter that a vile of
percocet is missing and to be on the lookout.
Carter speaks to Anna about it,
referring to Max, and she tells him that it is
not him who took it.
She trusts him and resents the
accusation.
Kerry is tired of the way nobody
respects policies, so she quits as Acting
Chief of the ER.
Baby Josh is doing well, but Mark tells
Doug that he is still disappointed in the way
he lied about it to him.
Max talks with Anna about staying in
Chicago. He
tells her that usually when he makes a
recommendation for a clinic, they ask him to
run it. He
tells her that he usually turns it down, but
this time he could be convinced to say yes. A car alarm continues to go off and it is annoying Jerry.
Mr. Nable is back and sitting in
chairs. He
is covered in blood and she is worried that he
has hurt himself.
He tells her that it is his car alarm
that keeps going off.
She sees that he has a gun on him.
She yells for Mark and Doug to go to
his car.
They find three people shot inside of
it. It
is his wife and two kids.
Everyone runs out in the rain to
assist. They
all have been shot, but they are alive.
He tells Carol that he ran out of
bullets and was not able to shoot himself. His daughter, Amy, is responsive. Kerry is taking care of her.
Corday and Peter are tending to the
mother, she is alert.
Mark is with the son, Steven.
He is not responding and has a hole in
his heart.
They take him to surgery.
Jeanie is with the father and he tells
her that his wife was going to take the kids
away from him.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY AT CENTER
OF SEASON FINALE -- Repercussions from Dr. Ross'
(George Clooney) treatment of a drug-addicted
baby complicate his personal and professional
relationships. Nurse Hathaway's (Julianna
Margulies) instincts regarding a patient who
attempted suicide turn out to be tragically
correct. Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) treats two
Elvis impersonators injured in a parachuting
accident. Dr. Weaver (Laura Innes) is angered
when hospital politics stand in the way of
patient care and her own ambitions. While Dr.
Corday (Alex Kingston) is concerned with the
future of her fellowship, Dr. Benton (Eriq La
Salle) is faced with a new worry regarding his
son. After helping the wife of a coma patient
with a difficult decision, Dr. Carter (Noah
Wyle) confronts Dr. Del Amico (Maria Bello) with
his suspicions regarding Dr. Rosher (guest star
James LeGros, 'The Myth of Fingerprints').
Gloria Reuben also stars.

May 14, 1998: A Hole in the Heart:
Ross and Hathaway are continuing their
controversial and unauthorized efforts to aid a
7-month-old boy born addicted to heroin. But
when the procedure is discovered, it could lead
to their terminations. Meanwhile, Corday is
stunned to receive a brusque letter from Romano
concerning her sponsorship; Carter suspects Del
Amico's boyfriend when drugs are stolen; and a
despondent patient shocks the staff with an
