Mark
and Jerry are planning the annual ER banquet
this year.
Jerry’s mother is cooking a
smorgasbord. A deposit was not put down for a
band so they end up with a one man orchestra.
Elizabeth is still concerned about her
sponsorship in the US.
Peter suggests her to speak with
Morgenstern about sponsoring her.
She tells Peter that she has been
offered a position of senior lecturer at
Gloucestershire Royal Hospital back in the UK,
but that she doesn't want to go back there.
Doug
is interested in being a pediatric attending.
Carol suggests to Carter that he should
ask Anna out.
He does not want to ruin their
friendship. Carol tells Carter that his
grandmother stopped payment on a donation
check to the clinic. Jeanie learns from
Anspaugh that the final two bone marrow donors
did not match Scott. Anspaugh tells him that
he could try a new Phase I Chemotherapy trial.
Scott agrees to do it even though it is very
experimental, with possible severe side
effects that could kill him. Allison
Beaumont is back in the ER again, this time as
a paramedic.
She has a seventy one year old man with
her named Lyle Swanson.
He was in an automobile accident.
Elizabeth is happy to see how well Allison is
doing. Swanson
is having chest pains and he tells Kerry,
Peter and Elizabeth to order a chest X-ray.
He tells them he has a parasophageal
hernia. They
are surprised to know he is a pathologist.
Carter goes ahead and takes Carol’s
advice and asks her out and she accepts.
Mr. Swanson ends up having a volvulus
and he needs a gastrectomy. Morgenstern had him in school and tells him that he can do the
surgery laproscopically.
Morganstern wants Elizabeth to assist
him. Mark tells Anna that she has
matched for a bone marrow patient out of
state. Anna wants Carter to do the procedure
on her and he agrees to.
She will be sore and will not be able
to go to the banquet with him. Carter's
grandmother tells him that Carol will have to
find other funding for her clinic. Carter
thinks that she is retaliating because of what
happened to Chase.
Doug arrives to adjust Scott's pain
medication and asks him if he's sure about the
chemotherapy. Doug later tells Jeanie that
Scott has a crush on her, and is doing the
chemotherapy for her.
Elizabeth ends up letting Peter scrub
in with Morganstern.
She tells him that she will meet up
with him in the OR later. He tells his
Gamma that he is not interested in the family
anymore and she tells him that he will not
need his trust money anymore then.
He walks out. The surgery
doesn’t go as planned and Morgenstern
accuses Benton of cutting the gastric artery.
Benton has to push Morgenstern out of
the way to save the patient.
Elizabeth is there to witness that part
of the procedure. Benton is glad that
the operation was videotaped, but the tape is
already gone.
He goes to see the autopsy.
Jeanie really feels bad after Scott’s heart
stops and is finally brought back.
She tells him that she will love him no
matter what.
He does not have to take the chemo
treatment just for her.
Scott tells her that he doesn't want
any more chemotherapy and Jeanie kisses him.
Morgenstern threatens Peter if he goes
around telling his side of the story.
Carol tells Carter at the banquet that a new
check has come.
Anna made it after all.
She tells Carter that she is still not
over her ex-boyfriend in Philadelphia, the one
who had the drug problem. The place
where the banquet is being held is like a
lodge. Mark
does it all so that everyone knows how much he
really cares for them and how he appreciates
how they have treated him since his attack.
They are his family.

NBC Review
PARTY TIME -- Dr. Morgenstern
(William H. Macy) and Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle)
clash after a complicated surgery goes awry.
Facing a new round of chemotherapy, Scott
Anspaugh (guest star Trevor Morgan) again turns
to Jeanie (Gloria Reuben) for help. Dr. Ross
(George Clooney) takes unusual measures to
protect the life of an ill toddler. When Dr. Del
Amico (Maria Bello) learns she is a match for a
bone marrow donation, she turns to Dr. Carter
(Noah Wyle) for advice. Later, Carter faces an
unexpected challenge when he tries to encourage
his grandmother (guest star Frances Sternhagen)
to continue funding Nurse Hathaway's (Julianna
Margulies) clinic. The annual ER banquet is a
success, despite the problems Dr. Greene
(Anthony Edwards) encounters while organizing
the event. Laura Innes and Alex Kingston also
star.

TV Guide Review
April 16, 1998: Gut Reaction: As Mark
Greene deals with the details of an off-premises
bash he's throwing for his staff, two emergent
dramas unfold within the hospital. An unsure
Morgenstern clashes with Benton as a colleague
lays dying because of a botched surgery; and, in
the stillness of an oncology isolation unit,
Jeanie helps a young cancer patient who admires
her decide if he wants to continue his
debilitating treatment.
