Jeanie
takes Scott Anspaugh rock climbing and he is
excited about it. A group of young
ladies are brought in after a car accident.
they are covered in blood and everybody is
trying to figure out where the blood is coming
from. They are animal activist and they
were transferring cow blood for a protest.
Kerry tells Doug that his paper is overdue and
that he will lose his fellowship if he does
not turn it in soon. David Morganstern
is back at work. A man brings his
pregnant wife in. Her name is Karen and
she is 18 weeks pregnant. She is badly
dehydrated. Scott has a hard time
climbing the wall and he gets very tired.
Jeanie takes him to the ER. Elizabeth
takes the opportunity to use hemo-aid in the
ER. It is fake blood and she is doing a
study on it. Mark tells her that he will
support her use of it in the ER.
Morganstern is working on a patient, an
elderly storeowner named Mr. Jang. He
has been shot in the chest and Morganstern is
having a hard time. He tells Kerry and
Elizabeth that something has gotten into his
eye and Elizabeth takes over. She uses
hemo-aid on the patient and Romano comes in.
He is not happy that she is using it and he
tells the man's son. The man's son tells
Elizabeth that he hold her responsible if
something happens to his father. Doug
tells Scott and Jeanie that he has to do
another spinal tap and he will need a
transfusion. His white blood count is
low and he will need a biopsy. Carol has
a teenage girl named Natalie come in with her
father. She is there for birth control
and wants to know if her parents know, but she
tells her that she does not want them to find
out. Carol tells her that she won't
tell, but tells her to be careful. She
sends her home with condoms. Kerry tells
Mark that Doug is not applying for a
fellowship for next year and they think he is
leaving. When Mark asks him about it,
Doug tells him that he wants an Attending
position for a Pediatric ER. Reese has a
fever and Peter needs to take him to Carla's,
but his car is broken down. Elizabeth
offers to let him use her car and she rides
along with them. They stop to get gas
and Peter accidentally backs into a lady.
Peter is more concerned about Reese than the
hurt woman. They come to the ER and they
find out that the woman works for a law firm.
Peter is late for surgery, but he has hurt his
head. Carter takes care of the injured
woman, Mrs. Ingram and Peter tells him to be
thorough. Mark takes care of Peter's
head. Carol tells Jeanie that she is
doing a marrow drive for Scott.
Jeanie
tells her to give him time and let's see if he
will even need a donor first. Natalie's
mother brings her in and wants to see Carol.
She wants to know what is going on with her
daughter and why she was given condoms.
Carol tells her to let her speak with Natalie
alone and she will talk with her.
Natalie tells her that her boyfriend is
actually her teacher. Carol tells her
that this is illegal and she later files a
police report. Romano asks Elizabeth
about heading up the hemo-aid study. Doug
tells Jeanie that Scott's cancer is back.
He will need a bone marrow transplant and
chemotherapy. Carter tells Benton that
the woman he hit had been drinking. She
drops any charges that she was going to file.
Anna asks Carter about Chase. Elizabeth invites Carol and
Anna over for a girl's night out. Peter
shows up at the door and Carol and Anna see
him. He was telling her that he does
have a problem with dating a white woman.
Carter goes to visit Chase. He is brain
damaged from the overdose and is having a hard
time taking care of himself.

DIFFERENT BLOODLINES -- Nurse
Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) makes a surprising
discovery when animal activists are brought into
the ER after a car accident. Dr. Corday (Alex
Kingston) looks for candidates to help with her
study on artificial blood and then deals with
unexpected complications in her relationship
with Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle). Jeanie (Gloria
Reuben) and Scott Anspaugh (guest star Trevor
Morgan) hear bad news regarding his illness. Dr.
Greene (Anthony Edwards) learns that Dr. Ross
(George Clooney) has come to a decision
regarding his future at the hospital. Dr.
Morgenstern (William H. Macy) returns to the ER
for the first time since his heart attack,
causing mixed emotions in Dr. Weaver (Laura
Innes). Dr. Del Amico (Maria Bello) contends
with a distraught husband while trying to help
his wife avoid a miscarriage. Dr. Carter (Noah
Wyle) continues to watch over his cousin, Chase
(guest star Jonathan Scarfe).
