Jeannie
is upset with Al because he has not been
looking for work. Jeanie tells Al that
she is going to go file for her unemployment.
It is a lie, she is really going to meet with
someone Maggie Doyle recommended about getting
her job back. Anspaugh tells Kerry that
she handled Jeanie's situation very well. Mark
is a little tired. He is having a hard
time keeping up with Cynthia. She has
worn some lingerie that Mark gave her as a
gift. Carter's cousin Chase comes to see
him. He was bitten by a spider.
Carter introduces him to Anna and Chase tells
her that Carter's nickname is
"Scooter". Ellis West
introduces himself to Mark. Mark
introduces him to Kerry, but she tells him
that she has already met him. Carol gets
on to Cynthia for the way she has been acting
around Mark.. She tells her that it is
inappropriate. Cynthia tells her that
she should be glad that Mark is happy.
Jeanie comes in to work. A young man
comes in and he is in a lot of pain. He
has sickle cell and needs Demerol. He
tells Kerry that is the only things that will
help him. She just thinks that he wants
the drugs. She does not give him enough
to even help his pain. She tells
Carol to street him. A woman and her
mother are brought in after a car accident.
The young woman, Allison, has an open femur
and has hurt her larynx. Elizabeth takes
care of her and Peter takes care of the
mother. Kerry sees that Jeanie has come
to work, so she goes to speak with her.
Kerry tells her not to see any more patients
and Jeanie makes a note of it. Kerry
tells her not to humiliate herself by having
to be removed by security. Allison's
mother has died and Elizabeth rushes her up
for surgery. She wants to save her leg,
but it will be a difficult operation.
Mark's lawyer, Herb Spivak, comes in to do
some procedures. Mark tells him to keep
a low profile. A woman and her husband
have been fighting and she has ran him over.
They have both been brought in and she has
been handcuffed. Carter takes care of
the woman, Darlene, and Anna takes the man,
Eddie. Eddie works for the police motor
pool and the cop their is taking his side.
Doug is back at work. Carol is glad to
see him. Mark arranged for Carol to get
some time with Doug in the exam room.
Cynthia walks in and catches the two of them
making out. Jeanie gets called up to
Anspaugh's office. Carter gets arrested
for disposing of the contents of his patient's
stomach. This was evidence for the man
and is an obstruction of justice.
Anspaugh tells Jeanie that he will let her
back to work if she will drop the suit.
She agrees, but Kerry does not. This
undermines her authority. Anspaugh tells
her to deal with it.
Carter
gets fingerprinted and has his mug shot taken.
The man with sickle cell comes back in pain.
Doug treats him with more Demerol.
Rachel comes to the ER for Mark to take her to
her dental appointment. Mark asks
Cynthia to do it for her and Rachel seems to
like her. Herb gets to shock a guy's
heart and this makes his day. He tells
Mark that the Kenny Law lawsuit has
disappeared. Al tells Jeanie that he
starts in Atlanta on Tuesday. He wants
her to go with him. She wants to stay,
since she has gotten her job back. Jen
comes to pick Rachel up. Cynthia had
taken her to get a makeover after her dental
appointment. Jen and Mark are both
shocked at what they see on their eight year
old girl. She has heavy makeup on and
purple hair. Jen is not pleased at all
and Mark isn't too happy with it either.
Anna comes and bails Carter out of jail.
She tells him that it is his Christmas
present. Carter kisses her.
Allison ended up in a coma and Elizabeth is
feeling guilty about haven done the procedure
on her. Jeanie comes home to fins all of
Al's things gone. Al comes in and she
seems relieved that he had not left yet.
She tells him that her life and her job are
here. He tells her that he will keep in
touch.

Greene (Anthony Edwards) has a tough day
balancing work, an unusual visit from his lawyer
(guest star Dan Hedaya, 'Cheers') and a growing
relationship with a co-worker. Jeanie (Gloria
Reuben) goes to the wall with Dr. Weaver (Laura
Innes) over her right to a job, then faces
complicated issues with Al (Michael Beach). When
Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle)protects a patient's civil
rights and has a run-in with a police officer,
Dr. Del Amico (Maria Bello) comes to his rescue.
Mother and daughter accident victims lead to
tough decisions for Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle)
and Dr. Corday (Alex Kingston). Dr. Ross (George
Clooney) comes to the aid of a sickle cell
patient (guest star Hill Harper) whose
medication has been stolen.
