Carol
tells Doug that she is interested in having an
ER clinic at the hospital for people to have
somewhere to go for follow up care for free.
Doug is busy setting up video equipment in the
bedroom as she is talking. He tells her
that he is doing it for her and to help
fulfill an old fantasy of hers. Reese is
crying and making it hard for Peter to study
for a procedure that he will be performing
with Anspaugh. He wants the crying to
wake Carla up, but it does not, so he has to
tend to him. Maggie fill Mark in on the
patients in the ER when he comes in to work.
Jeanie has a patient for him to look at right
away. It is an older woman who seems to
be fond of Mark. She likes it when he
touches him, so he leaves her to Jeanie
without finishing the exam. Pablo comes
in looking for Haleh. Carol tells him
that she is out sick and to come back
tomorrow. Carter gets to teach his
student, Ivan, how to insert a catheter.
He does a good job, but he forgets to attach
it to a bag. Cynthia sees that Mark is
in a bad mood and she asks him who peed in his
cornflakes? He tells her that he is in a
bad mood because he is meeting with his lawyer
and the people that are suing him today.
Anna has a 20 year old patient with shortness
of breath. He is an athlete and his name
is Brett Nickelson. Carol talks to Kerry
about her clinic idea, but she responds that
the ER does not have any money to fund such a
thing. Maggie Doyle's patient walks out,
because he is tired of waiting for a surgeon
to come down and look at his gun shot wound.
Peter, Corday and Anspaugh are in the OR and
Anspaugh asks him a question about the
procedure. Peter does not know the
correct answer, so he is asked to step out.
Anna gets her x-ray back from her patient and
there are a lot of spots on his lungs.
She tells Doug that it is probably testicular
cancer and he offers to examine him for her.
She tells him that she can handle it.
Carter calls for a surgical consult and Dale
Edson comes down. Carter has a patient
with a bad toe. Edson tells Carter that
Dr. Romano is back. Carter never got to
work with him, because he left surgery before
he came. Edson asks the patient if he
can feel his toe when he touches it and he
tells him no. Dale takes the toe and
twists it right off of his foot. Anna
tells her patient that she needs to check his
testicles. He wants to know why and she
explains his condition to him. He is
shocked by it, but he lets her examine him.
He was not quite prepared for the exam and has
to stop during the middle of it. Kerry
brings Carol a bunch of forms and manuals for
her to look at if she is really interested in
starting a clinic. Carol wasn't talking
about doing it herself, but she will have to
if it is going to be done. Carter makes
a good call on his patient and he needs
surgery. His patient crashes, so Romano
and Edson take him to the OR. Elizabeth
finds Peter when the surgery is over. He
is sleeping on top of his stack of patient
files. She tells him that Rocket Romano
is back and he is sponsoring her. She
wants him to meet him, but he is not
interested. Anna's patient is missing.
He has left the ER. Pablo is still
waiting for Haleh. Carol has Cynthia
tell him again, that Haleh will not be back
until tomorrow. Ivan comes to Carter to
tell him that he is having a hard time drawing
blood from a heroin addict. Carter goes
to help him. Carter has a hard time
also. The addict takes the needle and
draws the blood from around his heart himself.
Ivan watches and faints. Anna goes to
Doug and tells him that she messed up with her
patient. If she finds him, she wants him
to take care of him to make him more
comfortable. He tells her that he will.
A patient is brought in with restraints on.
He is wild and mean. Mark goes to take
care of him and the patient kicks Chuny down
and she bites her tongue. This makes
Mark mad and probably scared, so he goes for
the guy's hurt leg and makes him cry.
Peter goes to Anspaugh and apologizes for not
being prepared for surgery. Anspaugh
tells him that he has been letting it slide
because of his family problems, but that this
an not continue. Anna's patient returns.
He just need to get away and take a walk to
think about the whole thing. He wants to
keep Anna as his doctor. Cynthia goes
outside and bums a cigarette off of Mark.
She tells him that she thinks he handled the
wild patient well. She gives him a back
massage, and then he gets paged for his
meeting with the lawyers and the Law family.
Carter speaks with Carol in the lounge, as he
is waiting on the phone to hear about his
patient that Dale and Romano took up to
surgery. He mentions that maybe she can
get a foundation to give her money for her
clinic. He tells her that his
grandmother is always helping causes like
that. He tells her to write something up
and submit it to her for review. Jodi
O'Brien's name is mentioned during the lawyer
meeting with Mark. This is a sore spot
for him and it just gets everything started on
the wrong foot. Chris Law being in the
room doesn't help matters either. Mark
lashes out at him and the meeting has to be
stopped. Elizabeth introduces Peter to
Romano. Romano seems to like him, but
Peter doesn't seem to like Romano because of
his Chris Rock remarks. Carol sees that
Pablo is still waiting for Haleh, so she
cleans him up and checks his lungs herself.
Carter sees Peter outside and he tells him
that he is twice the surgeon Dale Edson will
ever be. This makes Carter happy.
Al and Jeanie go to a bar for drinks.
Al's old co-worker comes in later. He
causes a disturbance and Al and Jeanie are
asked to leave. On the way out, he makes
a comment to Al and Al comes back and they
start to fight. Jeanie begs him to stop.
