Anna has not found a place
to stay since she has moved to Chicago. She is living in a motel
until she can fine a place. Carter goes to speak with Anspaugh about
switching his residency from surgery to emergency medicine. This
infuriates Anspaugh and he tells him that this is not acceptable.
Mark tells Maggie Doyle that he has bought a new gun. It is a Sig
Sauer nine-millimeter. Doug asks him about Rachel and Mark tells him
that she has gone back home with Jen. He asks Doug to write him a
prescription for some Percodan. Mark tells him that it is for his
pain and that he is having a hard time sleeping at night. Anna talks
to Carol about finding a place to live. Carol tells her that she may
need to find a room mate to split the cost. Anna tells Carol that
she comes from a large family. She has seven brothers and is looking
forward to finding a place with her own bathroom. Carter goes to
Mark about switching his residency, but Mark has his mind on other things.
Peter gets page while in surgery with Dr. Hicks. He has to leave.
An athlete is brought in with pains in his chest. His name is Mr.
Munder and he is having a heart attack. An elderly 92 year old
man named Mr. Curwane is brought in in bad shape. He is dehydrated
and has not been taken care of. His wife cares for him at their
home. Doug asks Carol out, but she already has other plans.
She is seeing someone else at the hospital. Carter talks to Kerry
about switching to the ER. She tells him that the matching is too
late, there isn't anymore money available in the budget. He tells
her that he does not need any money. Doug releases a patient, Chuck
Martinez, a kid with hip pains, that Anna was taking care of. She
speaks to him and is angry. She is not her supervisor and needs to
leave her patients alone. Carter tells Mrs. Curwane's that her
husband needs to be in a nursing home. She tells Carter and Jeanie
to just fix him up and let her take him home.
Charlie is brought in.
Anna is going to tend to her, but Carol hollers out for someone to get
Doug. She has overdosed and was found in the mud. Doug learns
from a drug dealer or a pimp named Tommy that Charlie has been hanging
with, that her mother is in jail. Kerry learns that Jeanie and Al
are together. She is worried about Jeanie. Jeanie tells Kerry
that she is happy with Al and not afraid. She has been in love with
him since she first met him at age sixteen. Jackie comes to see
Peter. She finds him in the chapel.
Carter has three
specialists to come and check on the Curwanes. He wants them to be
able to go into a nursing home together. Carter is suppose to be
doing his rounds with Anspaugh at this time. Anspaugh tells him to
get upstairs and Carter tells Anspaugh that he won't be joining him.
Anspaugh tells him again and Carter tells him that he will be there if and
when he can! Adele Neuman comes to check on Charlie, but she is
gone. Anna and Doug go to find her. Anna tells Doug that
Charlie reminds her of herself. Mark gets scared on the train and ends up pulling out a gun on some
juveniles. When Carter gets off of work he finds Dr. Anspaugh.
He is on his way home. He tells him that he can be a competent
surgeon, but that he will never be a great surgeon. He thinks that
he can be a great doctor though. Anspaugh tells him to find him in
the morning and he will try and work something out. Doug goes to see
Carol after her date. He kisses her and she kisses him back.
Benton goes in and hold his baby as Carla watches.

NBC Review
SEASON FINALE -- Carter
decides he wants to give up his surgical
residency to pursue emergency medicine, even if
it means working for free. Surgery is performed
on Benton's premature baby, but he fears
permanent brain damage. Greene destroys the
doctors' lounge prompting Ross and others to
confront him about his tenuous mental state.
Charlie (Kirsten Dunst), the 14-year-old that
Ross met through the Healthmobile, arrives in
the ER after a drug overdose. Later, Ross and
Hathaway share a kiss.

Benton and Carla ponder their uncertain future
together as they watch their premature son
struggle for life. Meanwhile, Greene suffers
psychological aftereffects from his traumatic
attack; Carter incurs Anspaugh's wrath when he

Hathaway pursue relationships with co-workers.
