Carol
takes care of a college student named Lori.
She is upset because of something that
happened to her the night before. She
went home from a party with a guy she barely
knew and she doesn't remember anything until
she woke up this morning with some of her
garments down. Carter plays basketball
against Mark and Doug. He loses and gets
to take care of a patient of Mark's choice.
Mark gives him a woman named Babs Chenovert,
who complains of a burning in her chest due to
some chili fries she has eaten, but Mark
thinks she is a crack head. Two victims
are brought in after a shoot out at a fast
food place. One is a white employee and
the other is a young black man named Kenny
Law. The employee seems to be in worse
shape than Kenny, so Mark tends to him first.
His brother Chris is there with him and wants
to know why his brother isn't getting the same
treatment. He heard that the staff
thinks he is a gang banger. Chris grabs
Peter and tells Mark to get out. Peter
takes Kenny to the OR. Carla Reece is
brought in after a minor fender bender.
She is 6 1/2 months pregnant. Jeanie
Boulet is tending to her and does not know who
she is. Jen and Rachel come in to see
Mark. Jen's mother has had a stroke and
they are leaving to go to see her in Florida.
Mark tells Jen that Rachel can stay with him,
so that she won't miss any school or soccer
practice. Carter learns that Babs was
seen at St. David's, but they did not realize
how bad off she really was. Carter
sees that she has heart problems and is not a
drug addict. A man in a wheelchair was
hit by a car. His name is Brown and he
is high on booze and drugs. Kerry takes
care of him. She wants him to go into
detox, but he is not crazy about the idea.
All he wants are some more drugs for his pain.
Jeanie is concerned that Carla may have RH
blood factor. She tells Carla that they
need to contact the babies father to find out
his blood type. Carla tells her that the
father is Peter Benton. Carol's patient
Lori gets her test results back. She has
been given a drug by someone at the party to
knock her out to have sex with her. She
was raped and needs to go to the police about
it. Kenny's friends start filling up the
waiting area to find out his condition.
Mark continues to ask Malik to keep them
informed. A basketball player from the
other team has been shot by a drive by shooter
and brought in. Mark tells Chris that
his brother's shooting was drug related and he
does not need to retaliate. This makes
Chris even angrier. Jeanie goes in to
surgery where Peter is and tells him that she
needs to see him. She needs his blood.
She tells him about Carla, but he does not go
see her. Kerry talks to Mark about
getting Brown into a detox center at the
hospital. Kerry tells Brown that if he
will go into rehab, that she will give him a
shot of drugs. He accepts the offer.
Babs has a heart attack and has to go for
angioplasty. Kenny Law ends up dying in
surgery. Mark has to go tell the family.
Carla begins having contractions and Jeanie
has Dr. Coburn come down to se her.
Carla is afraid of needles, but she lets
Jeanie hook her up. She doesn't feel the
pain of the needle and the contraction later
stop. Dr. Hicks asks Peter to join her
team as a surgeon. He accepts and she
reminds him that he will be working with
Carter again. Maggie takes Rachel to Doc
Magoo's to eat after her shift is over.
Kerry's patient is wheeling himself out of the
ER. He is not going for any treatment.
Kerry tells Lydia that he will be back and she
agrees that he will, but next time the nurses
will have to deal with him. Mark, Doug
and Carter go back outside for a basketball
rematch. Malik is getting off of work
and Mark asks him to join the game.
Peter comes down to check on Carla, but she is
sleeping. He sees the videotape of
Carla's ultrasound and watches it. He
sees that they are having a boy.
