Jeanie goes to Al's to help him out with some paper work.  He is taking out a second mortgage to help pay for his medical bills.  Jeanie will do the paper work during the day and return it to later on that night.  Mark talks to Anspaugh about tenure.  Anspaugh tells him that Kerry has already selected her study and that Mark could take one that she had not wanted to do.  It is a study on pus.  Doug and Carol are on the Health mobile.  Gus drives the health mobile and isn't too friendly.  We meet a girl named Charlie who comes to the health mobile for condoms.  She acts as if she has been stabbed.  She is a runaway.  It is a program that Anspaugh used at Southside.  A man and his daughter are brought in after being hit while trick or treating.  Carter takes care of the girl and the girl's father dies in the ER.  The girl needs surgery and wants Carter to stay with her.  Carter tells her that her dad is okay, but he is dead.  Dr. Keaton thinks that Carter did really well with the girl.  Carter wants to be the one to tell the girl about her father, but the girl already knew when she woke up after her surgery.  Susan is coming back from her Hawaii trip and Mark seems nervous about it.  We learn that she didn't even  go to Maui, she went to Phoenix to see Chloe, Joe and Suzy.  She was too afraid of flying to go to Hawaii.  She tells Mark that the family is doing great.  Jeanie and Maggie take care of a woman who seems to have overdosed on pills.  They learn that her husband is the one who helped her do it.  Her husband, Mr. Jennings saw how much pain she was in.  Jeanie tells him that he did good as a husband and it made him feel better.  Carol is taking a pre-med physics class at Malcolm X College and ends up with a high school kid named William for her lab partner.   Doug finds out about Carol going to school and he supports her.  Abby sees that Peter isn't too good with kids, so she sends him to take a bunch of them from the pediatrics floor to trick-or-treat.  Dennis Gant is still being treated pretty bad by Peter.  It seems as if Peter is pushing him too far some times.  Mark and Susan tell the staff about the legend of the ghost on the fifth floor.  Mark and her both have to go to the fifth floor to pronounce a dead man.  Mark asks her to go with him to the Halloween Party and they end up dancing.    Abby sees Peter doing a trick for the kids he took around to get candy.  Jeanie meets Al at Doc Magoo's.  She tells him off about the way he treated her during their marriage.  She tells him that he has killed her.

NBC Review

TRICKS, NO TREATS - The Halloween shift starts off with a bang when an injured Frankenstein arrives with a gunshot wound to the chest. Gant and Carter compare evaluations and Gant discovers that Benton is being tougher on him so that no one thinks his race gains him preferential treatment. Jeanie clashes with the new intern, Doyle (Jorjan Fox) over a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) patient. Hathaway and Ross take the maiden shift in Anspaugh's "baby" - the mobile health van. Lewis returns from vacation -- but doesn't admit to Greene that she didn't go to Hawaii due to her fear of flying.
