Jeanie goes to her doctor's appointment.  She wants to pay everything with cash so that no one will find out about her HIV.  Carter's neighbor comes to see him.  Her name is Betty and she tells him all about her health problems.  All the time she is puffing on a cigarette.  She got Carter up out of bed and he realizes that he is late for work.  Wayne Lentloff wants to know if Benton is interested in a cardiothoracics fellowship, he seems to be undecided.  He invites Benton to his lake house for brunch. Dennis Gant gets to scrub in with Benton, since he had to cover for Carter in the ER since he was late.  When Carter comes in, Benton tells him to cover the ER for Gant.  The staff is worried that Cook County Hospital may be closing.  Jeanie goes to see Al because she received a bill in the mail that should have gone to him.  He is working  as a construction worker now and not at the transit authority.  He missed  his Cobra payment, and Jeanie is getting both bills since they are legally married still.  Carol's car gets repossessed.  She is late on her payment 3 months.  Carter tends to an old man named Mr. Heath, who was dumped at the hospital by his male nurse.  He keeps asking for someone named Thomas.  Morganstern informs Kerry and Mark about a doctor who might be coming if the hospital closes down at Southside.  His name is Donald Anspaugh and he eats med students for breakfast, residents for lunch, and the attendings, he chews up for dinner.  Carol wants to sell her house, but the real estate agent tells her that it is not worth anything.  Carol asks him if he is still seeing Gretchen.  Susan tells Mark that she is going to Hawaii for her vacation.  Betty, Carter's neighbor, comes to the ER to see him.  She is concerned about her shortness of breath.  Carter breaks one of Mr. Heath's ribs when he does chest compressions to get his heart to beat.  Susan and Mark are both blind dating and they joke about the dates.  They end up bumping in to each other at the fair.  The dates seem more interested in each other, so Susan and Mark run off without them.  They end up in a photo booth and have their pictures made.  Kerry, Mark and Morganstern go to the meeting to find out which hospital will close.  They find out that Southside is closing and Donald Anspaugh is coming as the new Chief of Staff.  Kerry and Morganstern go out on a date.  Doug goes up to radiology begging someone named Heather to go out with him, she reluctantly accepts.  Benton has Jeanie leave while working on a trauma.  He knows she has AIDS and doesn't want the bleeding patient infected by her.
