Mark
finally gives in and chooses Kerry Weaver as
the new Attending, only if she will back Susan
Lewis as Chief Resident. Kerry has a lot
of plans for the E.R. and the staff is not too
happy about it. Shep refuses to go to
his "shrink" appointment. This
upsets Carol. It is John Carter's
graduation day and he invites Peter Benton to
his graduation party, but he will not go.
A 2 day old baby is brought in with fluid on
it's lungs and unresponsive. It had been
delivered in the hospital just a few days
prior and released with it's mother 15 hours
after the delivery. This upsets Carol
very much. Dr. Morganstern offers Carter
a place on next years red team and he accepts,
especially since Peter is not involved.
Al comes to talk with Jeanie. He is
confused and upset about all of his meds.
Jeanie is upset also. Al has to tell all
of his previous partners from the last 10
years about his HIV status. He is not
proud of it and Jeanie tells him that he
shouldn't be even when they were married.
Jeanie has Chuny draw blood for her to be
tested, but we do not find out the results
yet. Mark meets Jen for lunch, but of
course he is late as usual. She tells
him that she and Craig are getting married.
Mark is stunned. Doug meets with Karen.
He accuses her of changing the amount on her
prescription from 10 to 100 for the Percodan
that he prescribed for her hurt foot.
She gets defensive and throws the bottle at
him and walks away. Loretta is back in
the E.R. Mark finds her sitting outside
smoking a cigarette. She asks him to be
the guardian of her children if and when she
dies. He has to turn her down.
Carter spends time with the young girl named
T.C. She is in Pediatric ICU for liver
problems. She has been moved up the list
for a transplant. She and her parents
are scared. Carter spends time with her
while her parents talk to the doctors.
He misses his graduation. We also here
Jing-Mei "Deb" Chen's name get
called out. She has graduated also, but
we do not see her. Susan turns down the
Chief Resident position. She tells Mark
that there is more in life than the hospital.
She seems to blame her work for not being able
to keep Little Suzy. Jeannie tells
Peter that Al is HIV positive and that he
should get tested. Peter is shocked.
Carol tells Mark that she quits the ER.
She is fed up with the way the hospital treats
it's patients. Carter sees Peter sitting
on the floor in one of the exam rooms and he
goes in to check on him. Peter is
actually nice to him. They have a good
talk and he reminds Carter that graduation is
over and that he is a doctor now. Carter
leaves smiling. He finds Morganstern and
asks to be put on Peter's team in the fall.
Carol tells Shep that she quit her job and
that she will not stay with him if he does not
seek help for his anger. He drives away.
Carter has a package waiting for him at the
front desk. It is a lab coat that has
John Carter, M.D. on it. Susan asks him
to stay and help with the people the
paramedics just brought in. He says
okay. She hollers Dr. Carter come on.
