Carol is doing a ride along with Unit 47 today.  Doug has spent the night with Karen.  Susan goes to work on her day off and tells Kerry that she will work a full 12 hour shift.  A blind woman gets mugged and she bites the tip of the mugger's pinky off.  Morganstern talks with Kerry and Mark about candidates for ER Chief.  Mark immediately mentions Susan Lewis as a candidate, but Kerry seems to disagree.  Conni brings in her new baby and everyone makes a fuss over it as Susan looks along.  She has flashbacks of little Suzy crying and her searching for something.  Carter learns that he will not graduate on time unless he can do a 4 week Pediatric rotation in the ER with Doug Ross.  Susan is on top of the game all day.  She saves an unborn babies life and impresses everyone.  She volunteers for a lot of cases.  Loretta comes in to the ER and collapses from dehydration in Mark's arms.  He goes to speak to her oncologist, but he does not seem to care about her.  Benton learns that Dr. Vucelich has added an amendment to his research which clears him of any liabilities brought forth.  This makes Benton look like an idiot in front of the dean.  Jen comes to see Mark to discuss the divorce settlement.  They discuss it and end up in bed together.  Shep, Carol, and Reilly go to the scene of a shooting.  As Shep is tending to one of the boys, another one gets in the way and he pushes him back and he falls hard and hurts his head.  Reilly seen the whole thing and ends up reporting Shep for the incident.  Carol did not actually see what happened.  Kerry thinks she is going to win the Resident of the Year, but Peter Benton wins it instead.  He is told by Dr. Hicks that it was Carl Vucelich who voted for him.  Karen asks Doug if he has heard from his father.  She is concerned because he has a lot of her money with him.  Harper tells Carter that she is going to move to Dallas for her OB rotation.  Carter tells her to come speak to him before she leaves.  Susan comes home after a long day to a quiet house.  She goes to the window and starts to flashback to the previous night.  She had given Suzy back to Chloe and they were taking her away.  She remembers that her teddy bear is missing and she runs to go find it.  Suzy is crying and Susan searches everywhere.  Chloe yells that she has found Mr. B and they get in the car to leave.  Susan watches as they drive away.

NBC Review

TRUCE -- Ross and Benton put aside their differences when they work to save a little girl hurt in a water heater explosion. Lewis deals with losing custody of Susie by throwing herself into work -- and saving a few lives in the process. Greene continues to finalize his divorce, but has sex with his estranged wife in the meantime. Carter thinks working with Ross will be easy...Ross starts dating his father's boss (Marg Helgenberger).

May 2, 1996: Fevers of Unknown Origin: Lewis throws herself into her work to deal with the loss of Suzie. Meanwhile, Shep becomes more violent on the job; Ross gets closer to Karen (Marg Helgenberger) while his father's away; and Greene and Jen decide to bypass the lawyers in their divorce.
