Mark
has Rachel for the weekend. Carter
discharges Mrs. Rubadoux to a nursing home and
is glad to be getting her out of his care.
Benton gets invited to Vucelich's house for a
party. Mark invites Susan and little
Suzy to go ice skating with him and Rachel;
she is not too happy with the idea.
Doug's father keeps calling to speak with him,
but he does not answer the calls. He
finds out that his father is staying at the
Hotel Dupree.
Benton invites Jeanie to be his dinner guest
at Vucelich's party. Mr. Rubadoux brings
his wife back in to Carter after she suffers a
stroke. Ruby trusts Carter with his
wife. E. Ray Boseman helps out as a desk
clerk since they are under staffed. Mark
tells Rachel that she is going to have two
homes from now on. One with mommy and
one with daddy. She doesn't take the
news well and Jen has come to pick her up.
She throws a tantrum on the way out.
Jeanie tells Carter that he needs to tell Ruby
that his wife doesn't have very long to live.
Carter is too much of a coward to tell him and
Ruby finds out from another doctor. Ruby
confronts Carter about it and he admits that
he knew all along. Doug gets the courage
to call his father back, but hangs up after he
answers. Dr. Morganstern is brought into
the ER with a dress on, but we later find out
that it is a kilt, but the staff gets a
good laugh out of it anyways.

HUSBANDS AND FATHERS --
Unable to save an elderly cardiac patient,
Carter receives the blame from the patient's
grief-stricken husband (RED BUTTONS). Meanwhile,
Benton is humiliated when Vucelich (Ron Rifkin)
must bail him out of a complicated surgery.
Elsewhere, Ross gets into a physical altercation
with a neglectful father and Greene deals with
his daughter -- who is acting out in response to
the divorce.
