Shep and Raul get called to a house with 22 abandoned children it.  The youngest child has cerebral palsy.  Carter takes care of an elderly woman, Helen Rubadoux, and her husband "Ruby".  He talks Dr. Vucelich in letting him care for her until she gets well enough for his study.  He tells Vucelich that "Ruby" trusts him and will do anything he tells him for the care of his wife.  Al Boulet comes in looking for Jeanie.  Mark gets served with divorce papers at work.  Randi tells Carol and Shep that she thinks Raul is cute.  Carol tells her that he is not her type; he is gay.  Shep makes a racial comment about the 22 abandoned kids and Malik and Benton take offense to it.  He tells him that he is not a racist.  Loretta comes in to the ER with her two kids, Jimmy and Anne.  They are both sick and she is concerned about some bleeding.  Mark takes a look at her and runs some tests.  Jeannie gets her evaluation back and it is not what she had expected.  She did not realize that the nurses evaluated her and Carol Hathaway had given her a bad review.  Jeanie confronts her about it.  Carol tells her that she will need to be stronger if she wants to make it in the ER.   Dr. Vucelich offers Benton a place on his team as a research associate and he gets his own office and a parking space.  Jeanie and Benton deliver twins from a 45 year old woman who didn't even know that she was pregnant.  Mr. Ruby tells Carter that he is not ready to let his wife go yet.  Carter gives him his beeper number and tells him to call anytime.  Mark learns that Loretta has cervical cancer, so he goes to try and find her.  Jeannie meets Al at Doc Magoo's after her shift is over.  He wants to "give it another go" and he tells her that they can have kids too if she wants.  He promises that there will be no more playing around and no more lies; she gets up and leaves.  Mark can not find Loretta's place, so he goes to Susan's for pizza and beer.
