Benton has car trouble and is late for work.  He gets into a fight with a man that steals his parking space and ends up hurting his finger.  Susan is running late also, due to the fact that she has to take care of little Suzy.  There has been a morning rush hour traffic accident and a lot of people are being brought in.  Doug and Lydia rush to help out someone in an ambulance and it is only Shep bringing Carol in to work.  Susan finds out that she has to wait three months before she can claim abandonment for Suzy.  Carter is taking care of Benton's finger and will have to take care of his surgeries for that day.  This includes the gastoplasty that he was going to get to do.  Carter gets to scrub in with Dr. Hicks as Benton looks on.  Doug and the rest of the staff are in the lounge and they are making fun of Kerry Weaver.  Doug impersonates her walk with a cane as she walks in.  The phone was off of the hook and she heard them all joking and laughing.  She hangs the phone up and walks out.  Susan and Doug later apologize to her about it.  Unit 47, Shep and Raul, call in and tell Carol that they are on their way in from a shootout with someone with a gunshot wound (GSW).  As he is talking, we hear gunfire and then the radio dies out.  Carol is really worried and concerned.  They later come in with the victim and tell her that the radio had been shot out.  The GSW victim is a young girl.  Her uncle comes in looking worried and wanting to see her.  As they are cutting her clothes off, they find bags full of cocaine taped to her leg.  He is wanting the cocaine.  Shep sees him backing out of the room and chases and tackles him.  This upsets Carol even more.  Susan confides in Doug about Suzy being put up for adoption.  Doug is thinking that she wants to put her up for adoption and suggest a neurosurgeon that works in the hospital.  She tells him no, that she was thinking about adopting her herself.  Susan tends to an overweight man who never stops eating.  He drinks 1 or 2 bottles of Magnesium that she told him to take only the prescribed amount and he goes into arrest while she is upstairs interviewing someone to take care of Suzy.  Kerry calls her careless and they argue.  Mark takes them both to the lounge.  Mark talks to Susan and Kerry about their differences and that he is behind Kerry Weaver 100%  and he doesn't want Kerry to interfere with Susan's work.  They start working better together after his talk.  Linda Farrell comes in and her and Doug have a date.  Mark is still staying with Doug.  He goes home to find that Hulda's flight has been delayed and Doug is on his way back with Linda.  Mark tries to cover for him, but Linda and Hulda don't seem to mind sharing Doug.  They invite Mark to join them in playing cards, but he calls it a night.  He goes to his room and calls Susan to check on her.  After hanging up with Mark, Susan calls the neurosurgeon that Doug had mentioned about adopting Little Suzy.
