Hathaway
is finishing her paramedic ride along.
They stop on their last call. They have
to take a man who weighs about 400 pounds to
the ER for evaluation. The man has a lot
of rabbits with him in his filthy apartment
and all he does is sing a song over and over
again. Carter and Harper tend to an
alcoholic man. Benton tells him that
this can be his patient. Carter
accidentally punctures his liver while doing a
simple procedure. They have to rush him
up to the O.R. and Benton and Dr. Hicks don't
seem to upset with him because it presents
them with the opportunity to do a rare
procedure on him. The man dies of a
heart attack during the procedure, but it had
nothing to do with Carter's accident.
Carter feels bad for losing his first patient
as a doctor. Jerry announces that he has
been promoted to Supervising Emergency
Services Coordinator. He hires a new
desk clerk named Randi. Wendy does an
expose on Dr. Greene. She goes around
and interviews the staff in the ER.
Chloe comes to the ER to see little Suzy.
She is acting very strange. Shep asks
Carol out on a date. He tells her that
her problem is that she has been shopping in
the Gucci department too long. She needs
to be shopping in automotives. Susan and
Kerry are still not getting along. Doug
Ross treats a little boy named Chia-Chia.
He has AIDS and his mother has brought him in
because she gave him too much of his medicine
because the doctors were not paying attention.
The little boy's mother, Sun, breaks down in
Doug's arms crying. He tells her that
she can come to the ER anytime and that he
will take care of her son. She feels as
if she is to blame for his illness.
Jeanie tells Peter that she isn't ready to
walk out on her marriage. Mark is
staying the night at Doug's. A
stewardess named Hulda is their to greet them
both. She doesn't have any clothes on.
Susan is getting in her V.W. with little Suzy when Chloe walks up on the other side of the
fence. Chloe tells her that she is
leaving to go out of state to work at a flea
market. Susan tells her not to leave her
with the baby, but Chloe drives off.
Carter and Harper take the liver of their
patient to the bar that he frequented.
It is a kind of send off.
