Malik comes in and wakes Carter up.  It is his last day.  Benton comes in as Lydia is walking him through a procedure.  Benton finishes the job.  Carol wakes up and sees that it is raining on her wedding day.  She looks in the mirror and tries on her veil.  Susan and Chloe are discussing plans for later that day.  Susan tells Chloe that she will be back later to get ready for the wedding.  Chloe doesn't seem to feel comfortable with little Suzy.  Six new students show up and Carter just laughs at them.  He knows what is in store for them all.  Carter is told that he will need to evaluate Benton.  Haleh helps him with the evaluation.  Carter gives him a 16 out of a possible 40.  Carter has to turn it in to Dr. Hicks.  Jeanie tells Benton that they need to meet for lunch to talk and he agrees.  Peter finds Carter and tells him that he can have the ER surgical Sub Internship if he wants it.  Carter is grateful  and then remembers about the evaluation.  He runs to get it out of Dr. Hick's box, but it is already gone.  Dr. Swift offers Mark the Attending position and he also tells him that Jodi O'Brien's husband is suing for malpractice.  Mark tells him that he will need to talk to Jen about it and then he thanks him.  Peter and Jeanie meet for lunch.  He tells her that he feels bad because he never got to tell his mother good bye.  She tells him that she can no longer see him.  That their only connection was his mother.  Carter goes to see Dr. Hicks.  She tells him how well Peter had evaluated him.  He gave him high honors recommendation.  She let Carter take Benton's evaluation back to revise it.  She told him to be truthful about it though.  Peter grieves over the death of his mother while treating a man who is dying with AIDS.  Carter spends time with a boy who has leukemia.

Susan shows up at the church with baby Suzy.  Chloe has disappeared.  Mark and Jen look after her since Susan is a brides maid in the wedding.  Carol finds Tag sitting outside on a bench, and he tells her he's not sure if she loves him like he loves her. She agrees and the wedding is off.  Doug shows up at the church and speaks with Carol.  He tells her that she will be happy someday.  Carter thanks Benton for everything.  Benton tells him that he's going to make a good doctor.  Carol gives a speech and thanks everyone for being there for her during the past year.  They all dance and have a good time.  Carter turns in his lab coat and I.D. badge.  Rolondo tells him to not be a stranger and he replies that he will be back in the fall.

COLD FEET - Greene is slapped with a malpractice suit regarding the pregnant woman who died while in labor. Later, Swift offers Greene the attending position. Carter, convinced this is his last day in the ER, slanders Dr. Benton in final evaluations. However, Carter later gets the surgical internship when the first candidate turns it down -- and he also learns that Benton gave him high marks. As the ER crew gathers at the church for Carol Hathaway's wedding, Carol and Tag both realize that he loves her more than she loves him. The wedding is called off, but the reception goes on anyway.
