Carter and Greene get to ride in the back of an ambulance.  They are on their way to help a woman trapped inside her car after it is struck by an airplane.  Carter's camel hair coat that he got for Christmas gets ruined by the jet fuel.  A boy has been bitten by his yellow lashed pet viper and it is loose in the ER.  A lady dying from cancer is brought in by hospice.  Mark tends to her.  She is in a lot of pain and tells him that she just wants to die.  Carol is proud of the 2 new crash carts that have been purchased and gets upset when they come up missing.  Her and some of the others go up to cardiology to recover them.  Susan is still not speaking to Mark and they disagree about a patient's care.  Peter has crossed Nurse Haleh and is in for a time of hardship.  Carol tells Peter later that he should treat Haleh with respect.  She has been in emergency medicine for 20 years and she knows what she is doing.  Dr. Morganstern offers Mark a job as an attending physician for the next year. Mark is honored and accepts without consulting his wife.  A little boy is brought in with multiple gun shot wounds.  Another boy comes into the ER wandering around.  He is about 8-10 years old like the one who was brought in.  Bob tells him that he can't be wandering around like he is doing and he pulls out a gun.  He waves it around at everyone he sees until he reaches the other boys room.  He points the gun at the boy and Peter tells him that it won't do any good; the boy has already died.  He points the gun at Peter and then he slowly backs out of the room and runs off.  Deb asks Benton for more time on her presentation.  Benton asks Carter if he needs any more time and he says that he is ready.  They do their presentations later on and Carter flops through his presentation while boring the others.  Deb gets up and does her presentation and gets everybody's attention with a computer generated slide show and handouts.  Peter is impressed and Carter feels like an idiot, again.  Doug goes upstairs to see if Jake wants to play some basketball.  He speaks with Diane and learns that she is divorced.  Mark tells Susan that he misses her.  Carter learns that Deb's mom is the Chief of Surgery at another hospital and he also finds the missing snake.  Susan comes in to check on Mark and finds out that the woman with cancer has died.  They talk and seem to work out their differences.  Mark goes home and tells Jen about his job offer and that he accepted it.  She is mad for not talking to her first about it.  She is considering spending another year in Milwaukee and is tired of his job always coming first.  Peter comes home late after a long day.  Jeanie has worked her first day and is mad at him for being late.  She tells him that he can not do that again.  She has taken good care of his mother and tells him that his mom is having problems with her left side also.  She would have liked to known her prior to her stroke.

NBC Review

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENTS -- Dr. Benton is chastised by Nurse Haleh (Yvette Freeman), Nurse Hathaway and his mother's new physical therapist (Gloria Reubens) for his condescending attitude. Dr. Morgenstern (William H. Macy), impressed by Dr. Greene's performance, offers him an attending position upon completion of his residency -- which doesn't sit well with Greene's out-of-state wife, Jennifer (Christine Harnos). Meanwhile, a terminal patient (Linda Kelsey) asks for Greene's help in ending her life and a poisonous pet snake gets loose in the ER.
