Susan
wakes to find Div recording memos about how
much he dislikes his patients. She is
disturbed at what she hears. Doug has
had company overnight, it is Linda. They
are going away for the weekend and Doug is
feeling bad about her spending so much money
on him. Doug goes in to work to
find Bob putting up the Halloween decorations
that were just taken down. He tries to
tell her that she should be putting up
Thanksgiving decorations, but she does not
understand. Carter is practicing his
sutures on a pig's foot. Susan takes
care of a very unpleasant man in need of
dialysis. His name is Edgar and the
clinic no longer wants him to go there for
treatment. Nobody wants to be around
him. Carter asks Peter if he needs to
bring anything to dinner. Peter wants to
know what he is referring to and Carter
reminds him that Peter's mother invited him
over for Thanksgiving dinner. He tells
Peter that his parents are in Switzerland
visiting his sister. Peter doesn't pay
him no mind.
Carter and Peter take care of a woman who has
ran her car into a bridge. She is going
to need stitches and Peter and Carter examine
her. As Carter examines her, he sees
that she happens to be a he. A teenager
is brought in after a car accident that he and
his friend were in. His name is Andy and
his friend's name is Larry Park. They
had ran a red light and hit a young lady and
decapitated her. Andy has a broken right
femur and will need his spleen removed.
Carol is helping Peter and Mark with him.
Larry is being treated by Sarah and Doug.
He has brain matter everywhere and they are
unable to save him. The car was
registered in his name, so the police think
that he was the driver. Andy tells Carol
that it was he who was actually driving the
car. Carter's patient's name is Henry
Colton. He has been dressing as a woman
for a very long time. He tries to talk
to Carter, but Carter does not respond.
He is starting to feel the disgust of the
people who see him dressed as a lady. An
animal rights activist named Frances is
brought in by officer Al. He was
attacked by a turkey that he was rescuing.
Susan discusses Div's condition with Mark.
Mark tells her that he needs psychiatric help.
Tag sees the larger turkey that Frances
killed. He says that it would make a
great one for the ER's Thanksgiving party.
He is going to pluck it. Frances can't
watch the plucking, but he tells Mark that it
felt good breaking the bird's neck.
Andy's mother comes in looking for him.
Carol tells her that he is okay, but is in
surgery to remove his spleen. Larry's
mother comes in and Carol has to tell her that
her son died. Carol takes
Andy's mom to see him. He tells his mom
that Larry was driving and ran a red light.
Carol hears him tell his mother the lie.
Mark feels bad because he felt he was not more
adventurous before he got older. He
wishes he was more irresponsible and had a
woman to keep him like Doug had Linda keeping
him up. Carol tells Lydia about Andy
driving the car. She tells Carol that
she needs to tell the police because it is two
people that were killed. Carol doesn't
feel that it is her place to tell. Mark
takes care of a woman who was brought in by
her husband. She is having chest pains
and was diagnosed with Lupus a year earlier.
Sara and Peter help Mark with her. Susan
goes to see Div. He admits to her that
he has been depressed lately, but he is
feeling better. He is looking forward to
having dinner with Susan, Chloe and her new
boyfriend. Carol sees Mrs. Parks.
She has just been to see her cold, dead son.
She tells Carol that she just wanted to slap
him and tell him how stupid he was for running
the red light. Carter returns to check
on his patient and he/she is gone. Sara
walks Peter through a very difficult procedure
with their patient. Peter does a great
job and her heart gets a steady rhythm.
Carol speaks with Andy and tells him that he
needs to tell the police the truth. She
tells him that she has been keeping a secret
for a long time and now she feels that she
needs to tell the truth about it also.
Carter learns that his patient is on the roof.
He runs up to find her/him on the edge of the
hospital. He tells her/him that someone
will be there to talk to him/her and not to
jump. He tells Carter that he can't pass
as a woman anymore and that is all that he is.
Div shows up, but Henry jumps anyways.
Carter looks down at the street to find him
dead. At the Thanksgiving dinner Carol
tells Tag that she wants to go for a walk and
talk. She tells him that she slept with
Doug while they were together. It was
right before she took the pills. She
also tells him that she let Doug kiss her two
weeks ago. Tag does not take this well
and he walks away. Peter sees Sarah and
he thanks her for all her help. She will
be leaving for her Starzl Fellowship.
She tells him that it is a teaching hospital
and that is what they are suppose to do.
Peter then sees Carter sitting alone upset
about Henry's suicide. Peter invites him
to go with him to his family Thanksgiving
dinner. Susan is trying to locate Div
Cvetic. He will not answer the phone.
Susan is probably dreading spending time with
Chloe and her new boyfriend without him.
She calls him again and then we see him in the
middle of traffic in the rain. He seems
to want someone to hit him with their car.

NBC Review
THANKSGIVING EPISODE - Thanksgiving brings
unusual patients and family patience. After
Carter treats a depressed transvestite for
lacerations, the man commits suicide by jumping
off the roof of the hospital. In frustration,
Carter explodes at Dr. Benton, but later spends
Thanksgiving with him. Ross treats a man who was
pecked by a turkey, then leaves for a Jamaican
vacation. Lewis's alcoholic sister (Kathleen
Wilhoite) complicates the holiday celebration by
announcing that she's pregnant.
