Peter
helps a stabbing victim by performing a
procedure to help him breathe.
Morganstern comes in and praises him for a
good job. Carter replies, "Pretty
Cool" and Peter rolls his eyes at him as
he walks out. Peter is awaiting an
interview with Morganstern for the Starzl
Fellowship that he and Sarah Langworthy are
competing for. Carter is looking for a
one bedroom apartment. Jerry helps him
out by telling him his strategy. He
tells him to wait for some of the patients who
are dying and try for their place. It
has worked for him. It is Susan's
birthday and everyone surprises her.
Everyone seems to know about her and Div
dating. A cop named Al comes in with a
street punk kid named Mookie. It is
someone that use to be a sweet kid when he was
younger. Haleh knew him and wants Peter
to work with him. Peter brushes him off
on Carter. Later Haleh tells Peter that
she hired the boy as a volunteer to keep him
out of juvenile hall and that she has put him
down as his supervisor. Al asks Carter
who the nurse on the phone is and he replies
that it is Lydia Wright. Al rushes out
to meet with her. Tag asks Carol again
to move in together. Doug is looking
around for Linda Farrell. Dr. Div gets
very rude with Malik when he asks him for help
with a patient. He has kind of a Dr.
Heckell and Mr. Hyde thing going in my
opinion. Doug and Carol both assist a
boy that was in a boating accident. They
save his life and while caught up in the
moment they kiss. Doug apologizes to her
and she tells him that he didn't do it alone.
Later, Doug sees her and Tag kissing.
Peter goes to his 3 pm meeting with
Morganstern. Langworthy is their too for
her meeting. Peter and her joke about
the person that is inside interviewing.
She gets her interview first which takes over
an hour. Peter then gets to go in and
his interview takes less than 10 minutes.
Morganstern tells him he did very well though.
Mark shows Carter how to do a lumbar puncture
on a patient they believe may have meningitis.
Carter did the procedure perfect his first
try. Mark tells him that is worth a
bottle of champagne. Mark meets Jen at
Doc Magoos. She tells him that she has
to go back to work earlier than expected.
They try to figure out the next time they are
going to be able to see each other. They
don't come up with any time. Chloe shows
up in the E.R. drunk with a bunch of her
friends. She is there to wish her sister
a happy birthday and brings her vodka.
She soon comes down from her high and starts
arguing with Susan. During the argument
she puts her hand and arm through the glass
window. Div finally takes the time to
talk with her as Benton stitches her up.
She has ruined their night out. Susan
goes to the roof for some fresh air.
Linda has a cardiologist convention to attend,
but Doug doesn't seem to mind. He tells
Mark that he finds her just a little too
perky. Carol tells Doug that she is
going to move in with Tag. Doug
wants to know if she decided this prior to
their kiss earlier or afterwards. Carol
seems to be torn between the two. Carter
goes up to the roof to see Susan. She
seems to be the only one he would like to
share is champagne with since it is her
birthday and since he has a dysfunctional
family also. He tells her that it has
been a perfect day for him. He tells her
that he got the champagne from Dr. Greene for
doing a perfect lumbar puncture on his first
try. She tells him that he can use their
first name. He reminds her that she
calls him Carter. She replies okay John
and he responds Susan. She says it just
doesn't sound right. He replies,
"Just call me Carter".

NBC Review
THIS IS SPINAL TAP -- Carter treats a wounded
gang member, and later completes his first
spinal tap. Ross and Hathaway share a kiss, but
Hathaway tells him she's moving in with Oligario
(Conni Marie Brazelton). Greene's wife
(Christine Harnos) visits, but is soon called
back to Milwaukee. The staff throws a surprise
birthday party for Lewis, but her drunk sister
(Kathleen Wilhoite) spoils the festivities.

TV Guide Review
November 3, 1994: Another Perfect Day:
Hathaway has mixed emotions about moving in with
Dr. Tagliari (Rick Rossovich) after she
kisses Ross. Meanwhile, Benton interviews for a
prestigious fellowship, and Lewis receives more
than her share of birthday surprises.
