Benton
comes in and wakes Carter up. We find
out that Jen and Rachel have gone out of town
for a job interview. Susan tries to help
a man who is too busy talking on his cell
phone. Doug and Carol take care of a boy
who is having hearing problems. He can't
hear the voices that his mother hears, such as
her dead mother, ex-husband and Princess
Diana. Doug tells Carol to get Psych
down. The boy asks Doug if he will get
to stay with his mother and Doug tells him
yes. Peter applies for a Fellowship
along with a third year surgical
resident named Sarah Langworthy. They
don't seem to see eye to eye. Mark takes
care of a woman that is having chest pains.
After working on her for a while she lets out
several loud belches. It is just gas.
Benton and Langworthy take care of a boy who
was hit by a car. He is D.O.A., but they
still try to save him. Carol is mad at
Doug for lying to the boy about being able to
stay with his mother. Peter, Sarah, and
John can not help the boy that was hit by the
car, he dies. This upsets Carter and it
must have been the first patient that he has
seen die. Dr. Div Cvetic comes to get
the woman that hears voices. She goes
wild and bites him as he is trying to restrain
her. The boy runs off and hides.
Susan takes care of Div. Dr. Langworthy
tells Carter to contact the hit and run boy's
parents. Benton does not like her
telling his student what to do. Tag and
Doug talk and he thanks Doug for being
attentive to Carol since she has been back.
Susan goes in to see the man that she has been
helping. He is still busy on the phone.
She tells him that he has too much stress in
his life and it is causing his problems.
She discharges him and he leaves. As he
is leaving his Cell phone rings and causes a
lot of weird things to happen. Such as
an electric wheel chair moving on it's own and
a lady's pace maker causing her electric
shocks and making her hand go up and down.
Mark demands him to turn it off. Pete's
brother-in-law Walt comes in to bring his car
back. He just finished working on the
transmission. He reminds Peter that he
is suppose to watch Peter's mother while he
and his wife go out to celebrate their 10th
wedding anniversary. A man and woman are
brought in handcuffed together. The man
is having chest pains and is in and out of
consciousness. The neighbors have phoned
his wife and she shows up in the E.R. looking
for her husband. Malik gets some big
bolt cutters and cuts the handcuffs off.
Just as the woman hides behind the other
curtain the wife comes into the room.
When she comes in the husband faints again.
The woman finds her secretary behind the
curtain and walks off mad and embarrassed.
Susan Lewis calls Peter out of surgery to look
at one of her patients. She thinks he is
a surgical candidate and Peter disagrees and
then leaves. Carter uses the records
from the local high school to identify the boy
who died from the hit and run. He calls
the parents to come to the E.R. When
they arrive, Benton tells them that their son
has died. They go to see him and when he
lifts the covers off his his face they tell
him that he is not their son. Peter is
embarrassed and Carter is dumbfounded.
Carter contacts the real parents and has to
give them the "your son died"
speech. This is the first time Carter
has had to do this and it is hard for him, but
it won't be the last. Susan and Mark are
talking and she tells him that she has been
seeing Dr. Div Cvetic for a month or so.
Mark is surprised. Doug ends up
telling the little boy that he was sorry for
not telling him the truth about being able to
stay with his mother. He hugs the boy.
Peter got caught up in surgery and forgot
about sitting with his mother. Walt
shows up in the E.R. and chews him out about
it. Doug goes to see Carol. Tag
answers the door, and Carol asks him who it
is. She comes to the door and Doug makes
up an excuse about his car breaking down and
leaves. Doug runs to catch the train.
The train leaves and he is stuck there.
Carol chases him down and fusses at him.
She tells him "what were you thinking? I
will not let you do this to me again!"

a pregnant teen's confidentiality. Also, an
older man complaining of chest pains
arrives...chained to his mistress. Another
patient's cell phone trips her defibrillator.
