Zadro
is a paramedic who lives for the "rush part" of the job. He recounted
how he once had to find and transport an anaphylactic headbanger in an
audience of 10,000 at a Metallica concert. Instructions were relayed
over a cell phone! In spring 1999, Zadro was injured when called to deal
with an injury at the site of some rioting tenants. With Zadro unable to
drive, Carter took the wheel and accidentally ran over a member of the public.
Zadro later recovered but Lars, his fellow paramedic, was shot by a member of
the crowd who believed him to be Carter. Lars died in surgery and Carter
had to break the tragic news to Zadro.
