Chief Surgeon

Mark is depressed following his marriage troubles, Susan tells him to go home. Mark goes to a dinner where a cyclist attempts to chat with him, Mark is quite rude and gets up to sit elsewhere.

We later find out that the cyclist is the new Chief of Surgery and ER Chief Dr William 'Wild Willie' Swift who is replacing Morgenstern.

Dr Swift calls an emergency, all Doctors are paged but Mark is in a noisy arcade and does not hear his bleep. Mark eventually turns up at the ER 1 hour 47 minutes late. Swift is not impressed. Mark is annoyed as it is Swift who needs to approve him for the job of attending.

Season 8

Dr. Swift returned in the episode "On the Beach" to attend Mark Greene's funeral.
