Doing a trial on Clamp and Run surgery for Aortic Aneurysm repair.
Benton tries to find patients to get in on Vucelich's study. He even
gets one of Susan's patients without her consent in Episode 031
"Days Like This". Carter signs up Benton for an interview without Benton's
knowledge.
One of the patients in the trial is Mrs. Rubedeoux who Carter is told to look after. She
has a stroke and Vucelich excludes her from the study. Benton starts
doubting the criteria of the study in Episode 038
" It's Not Easy Being Greene". when he learns that a lot of
patients are being excluded when the surgery outcome turns bad.
Benton reports his fears to the hospital and is fired by
Vucelich. Peter ended up writing to the hospital Ethics
Committee, which returned with no results. In May 1996, Peter Benton was
made Resident of the Year. Dr. Vucelich's nomination is what caused him
to win.
