Applies for the job of ER desk clerk, she is interviewed by Mark and Carol but does not come over very well having forgotten her references.

Cynthia waits until Mark has finished work and asks if she can talk about the job. Mark and Cynthia go for coffee, she is new to Chicago. Mark gives her the job without asking Carol.

  Mark and Cynthia become friendly eventually ending up in a relationship together. Cynthia goes to join Mark when his mum is ill but leaves Mark when she realizes he is not in love with her.

On returning to Chicago Mark finds that Cynthia has quit her job without leaving a forwarding address. Mark uses his Doctor status to find Cynthia's address, he returns some of her possessions and also meets her young son.
