Pilot - Season 8

Season 1
Mark is a fourth-year emergency medicine resident and chief resident of the ER.  Mark initially appears as an extremely competent, hard working and emotionally stable doctor. However it soon becomes apparent that his marriage is on the rocks.

Mark is married to Jen, who is training to be a barrister, he has one daughter, Rachel.

Season 2
Mark Greene  Dr. Greene is promoted to attending physician.  Mark eventually splits up with his wife after a car accident reveals that Jen has been cheating on him. Mark and Jen get divorced.

Episode 21 - Jen tells Mark that she is going to marry Greg.

Season 3
    Marks long term friendship with Susan Lewis develops throughout Seasons 2 and 3 until he eventually realizes that he loves her. Mark makes a frantic dash to the station to tell Susan he loves her just as Susan is leaving. Susan tells Mark she already knows, but she leaves anyway.

Mark then goes through an emotionally unstable period with multiple brief relationships, including with Chuny (Nurse) in Season 3 and Cynthia (Desk Clerk) in Season 4.

A mysterious beating in the toilets near the end of Season 3 leaves Mark unsure of himself.

Season 4
Family problems prevail, Doug forces Mark to take a visit home, there is much tension between Mark and his Dad. A few weeks later Mark is back at his parents after his mom has a stroke.

Season 5
Mark and Elizabeth Corday start dating.

Season 6
Mark and Elizabeth are still dating.

Kerry receives a phone call for Mark in the ER, Marks mom has died.

Marks dad arrives late from San Diego (he took up the offer of the airline to be paid to take a later flight).

Mark, Elizabeth, Marks dad and Rachel all spend thanksgiving together. However things are disturbed when Carol goes into Labor leaving Elizabeth with Marks dad and Rachel. Rachel then has her first period, so Marks dad goes to buy sanitary pads and slips on the ice cutting his head. They eventually end up in the ER where Mark stitches up his dads head.

Mark asks his dad to move in with him when he leaves the retirement community after just one week. He agrees.

Mark discovers that his dad has Lung Cancer which has also spread to the Liver.

Mark's dad dies in Episode 133 "Loose Ends".

Season 7

Mark asks Elizabeth Corday to marry him.  He then finds out that he has an inoperable brain tumor.

    Mark has to go to New York over the holidays to see a specialist about operating on his tumor.

  After a day of unexpected problems, Mark and Elizabeth finally get married in "April Showers".  The baby is born and it's a GIRL!

Season 8

Mark gets a chance to spend more time with Rachel, when she runs away from home and comes to live with the family.

Mark's tumor has come back, but he has not been able to talk to anyone about it, but Susan Lewis.

Mark decides that it is time to leave the ER and he takes Rachel to Hawaii to "fix" her.  Mark gets worse while he is there and Elizabeth comes to spend time with him on his final days.  Mark dies and leaves a Letter for the ER to read.
